Teacher can be kinda mean and sometimes talk way to much about something extremely random. Most of the teachers here don't understand that some students have ADHD and that the students are children, not fully grown adults. The school doesn't really support are mental health either, we have a guidance councilor but with how some teacher act its very hard to approach them and ask for help. They school barely has "Special Education." They have tutoring and some help for students with dyslexia and ADHD but if you have anything thats more severe they cant do anything. I would barely call it "Special Education" it more like learning help. This is coming from a student at this school.

This school is has an amazing educational foundation for all students although if you break leg or ankle and cant walk you can go to school because theres no elevator at the school. There is also a lot of bullying that goes on at this school. They say we are a community but no one supports each other! The students are racist and are extremely fake . The parents are also not supportive especially if you have to get picked up from school because your parents cant pick you up! The teachers here are amazing! One thing that I have seen at this school is that if that is a big problem that you address to the school they wont take it seriously at all and wont do anything, but if theres a tiny situation or problem they bring it to the next level. I would recommend coming to the school if youre looking for and good education and no real friends but if you are a social person and take friendships and relationships with your classmate seriously then I definitely dont suggest coming to this school. This school is not the best mentally but it will provide a good education! But like I said there is a lot of bullying that isnt addressed to the teachers so thats why I dont really think this is the best school but like I said it also has a great education

OLPH provides an excellent educational foundation for our kids in preparation for high school. The curriculum is challenging and when shared with peers in other school systems, we realize how advanced they are. They are able to manage learning differences and keep lines of communication open to faculty and staff. One of the many benefits of a smaller school is the extra attention the students receive, and awareness of all faculty when/if issues arise - either academically or socially. There is a team approach to teaching and shows the students a new way of leadership, to be open minded and collaborative. The principal is patient, fair and consistent; which is exactly what we need in these crazy times. Her experience in administration shines when she is called to problem solve and her compassionate, pastoral approach is refreshing. The teachers are AMAZING and really go above and beyond for the students; and the sense of community is strong.

If I could add starts, I would. We have five kids that will go through OLPH and were very intentional in choosing a one-track (one class per grade) school for our family. OLPH provides a strong educational foundation across STREAM in a faith-filled manner. The school thrives in its' community, not only in outreach, but also within the school itself. The diversity and inclusion brings families from across central MD together and we have made many close friends that become family. Our children are well prepared for high school and beyond, with the full support of the faculty and staff guiding them. There are opportunities for student leadership learning, experiential learning and programs for our child with learning differences through the Marian program. The administration is new as of summer 2021 and brings a fresh perspective, +30 years of admin experience, and a clear vision for the school - all while maintaining dearly held traditions of OLPH. We are grateful to be able to be a part of OLPH school.

My three children all graduated from OLPH many years ago and are now successful, confident, faith-filled adults all with families of their own. OLPH provides children a wonderful, safe foundation for living and learning about their faith on a daily basis, while offering strong academics and a caring community. The students are engaged, respectful and motivated to learn. My kids still have some of their former OLPH classmates as their closest friends, which says a lot. The community and family bond at the school is very strong and we still have many other parents we met years ago who are great friends.
I'm currently serving as a member of the OLPH School Board and am also very proud of the staff and teachers and how they've overcome so many challenges stemming from COVID over the past two years. They are caring and compassionate educators who continue to show us how they are willing to put the students first.
Offering many excellent programs, the school has a great partnership with the parish community as a whole, always centering around our Catholic faith.
I know that we have truly been blessed by being part of the OLPH school community and would highly recommend the school.

OLPH has been an excellent school for our family. We started 6 years ago with a child in middle school and another in 3rd grade. That child is now in 8th grade and ready to graduate. Both of our children were well prepared to enter high school and both were excepted into private Catholic high schools. The teachers and administration have been nothing but attentive and the school was able to keep going with virtual synchronous teaching during the shutdown. OLPH is a Christ centered institution with a strong Catholic identity. The school is diverse and all people are welcome.

My boys have thrived at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. Having transferred here in 3rd and 4th grades they have been challenged academically and grown spiritually as they have built friendships and matured socially. The teachers are caring and compassionate while maintaining high expectations that my boys could perform at their best. We have thoroughly loved the community aspect of the school. We have made great friends as parents as the school feels like a big family. The school fundraisers and events partnered with the Parish are really fun for the whole family. We are so glad that our boys have OLPH as a part of their growing up story.

The school has changed and isnt what is was years ago. Christ was replaced with left leaning politics. Black lives matter rhetoric, homosexual behavior, and Latin X subjects are a few things that have been introduced in recent years.

Overcrowded classrooms, deteriorating building facilities, and unqualified teachers list a few overall issues.

Im disgusted with how the school has evolved I could list more and write more examples but Im wasting my time. Just know its not worth the money.

Our family as a whole loves OLPH and would recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller, character building environment. We have been blown away by the community aspect of the families both at the school and the parish. The events are AWESOME!

Last year this school's students received two national Knott Scolarships, took 1st place in the National Geometry Catholic Math League, won the National Carson Scholarship, took 1st place in the "It's Academic" tournament (a battle of knowledge with local schools), won the Excellence in Music Award, won the Catholic Youth Organization Basketball (undefeated champs) Trophy. The school was also designated Healthy Howard Platinum (the highest honor celebrating energized physical activity and nutrition). Yes, this school shines brightly in celebrating the Christian faith out loud, and it is through that faith that this school forms the WHOLE child. OLPH students sore academically because they are empowered to be all God has planned for them! All students rise!

OLPH focuses on religion heavily. Strengthening your child academically is a second thought. As you read the reviews you can see this. The reviewer on August 22, 2014 is totally correct when he/she wrote "If you're only looking for a school with strong academics, then go down the road to Ilchester. However, if you want your kids to grow spiritually, then this school is the best you'll find anywhere."

There is so much to love about this school! The academics are rock solid with a strong track record of praise from local high schools who know an OLPH student is always outstandingly prepared, respectful and confident. The faculty is passionate, creative, caring and ready to ensure every student excels. The School is invested for the new millennium generation with state-of-the-art technology including a new iLC lab and interactive white boards. The new Principal, Mr. Pellechia, has positive energy and an innovative style making the whole school shine! Educational enrichment programs, faith formation, community service, sports, fine arts and a rich assortment of clubs/activities allow every student to find their passion and foster positive friendships. The fellowship is warm with families who are very involved and welcoming. The school is Christ centered and is the reason for everything they do. We chose OLPH because of its academic excellence and how faith formation isn't just another subject that is tacked on, but pervades all aspects of OLPH. Also, the teachers seem well supported and model Christ like behavior and love. My kindergartener said "Isn't OLPH the best school in Maryland?!" I asked why and she remarked "The teachers are just so loving and they always praise God there."

Parent: Going to OLPH has definitely had an impact on the young man that our son is today. As a faith based school, we feel he is held to a higher standard of moral behavior which encourages him to always try to do and be his best. Being a somewhat smaller school, OLPH has been able to provide our son with more individual attention. His talents were recognized at an early age and the OLPH teachers were always excited about helping to encourage him and provide him with enrichment activities that would foster the development of his abilities. But it has not always been just about education. OLPH was excited and supportive when our son approached the school in 7th grade with an idea to collect new/used DVDs to donate to hospitals around the world. OLPH school is about striving to be your best and serving the needs of your community. We always recommend OLPH to other parents because of their moral standards, their ability and desire to recognize a childs specific needs and the sense of community and family that is felt within the school.

I believe our students excel because of their whole-child formation. Our students are taught and formed spiritually, academically, socially, and physically, which paves the way for many different kinds of successes. If you're only looking for a school with strong academics, then go down the road to Ilchester. However, if you want your kids to grow spiritually, then this school is the best you'll find anywhere. Weekly Mass creates a community grounded in faith. We have daily Religion class where we go deeper into the mysteries of our faith through discussions. We also have two awesome priests who are very involved in both the parish and the school community. There is a very strong sense of family and the teachers and students really care about you. Prayer is an essential part of the day at OLPH. They also have lots of extracurricular activities to choose from. There are some discipline issues in middle school, but there is much less bullying than you will find at the average public school. Overall, the academics at OLPH are average and the faith community is outstanding.

OLPH has been a blessing for our family! My children love their teachers, they are thriving academically, and we feel like the teachers and staff truly care about each student. They have added numerous new clubs and enrichment programs to reinforce what the students are learning. My son loves the robotics club and is learning some pretty cool stuff. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for strong academics, truly personalized attention and authentic Catholic formation. The two priests are wonderful and very involved on a regular basis.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about this school. My children are in their 3rd year and it has been a wonderful experience. I have a child going into 1stgrade and 2ndgrade this upcoming school year. They have learned so much there that it amazes me that they are only 6and7 years old.The lessons that the children have learned about math,reading,listening,and real life skills has helped them to developed into two intelligent children.This is our 3rdyear at OLPH. We started when our youngest was in Prek. Teachers, administrators and staff are all very welcoming and really do care about the kids beyond the classroom. They know kids in other grades and they know their classmates siblings @OLPH. Although the school may have had some turnover in the past, I feel, that as a parent, OLPH offers a cohesive combination of learning and nourishment for my children. The staff,teachers,and Principal offer a lot of support and are interested in the well being and achievements of my children. I cannot say enough great things about this school.Its an amazing school that we look forward to continuing to be a part of for many years to come!

I'm a parent with a wonderful child who as being going to OLPH school for 5 years. The principal plus faculty is great but their are some problems with bullying not major just slight problems. They don't get much homework but my child has advanced so much in her learning.

Great school for the "typical" student, however if your child is "different", be prepared for your child to be ostracized by the other students. While Christian values are taught, they are not always put into practice by the students. Kids here are no different than kids in public schools. Mr. Pellechia, the new principal, has been a huge asset to the school. Most teachers are fantastic, and very caring.

Posted a review in 2012 as a new parent and promised an update. This school has come a long way in a short amount of time. All for the best and still more to come! The transformation of making a solid great school of many years to an above average impressive school in just a year has been a pleasure to witness and our family is proud and blessed to be apart of the OLPH community. Where do I begin? The Principal, of course. Mr. Pellechia only started a year ago, and HE has made a HUGE difference in so many ways. His daughter is in Kindergarten & one on the way! He truly has an "open door" policy of hearing all of our parent concerns and suggestions. Not only has he made a difference, but the School Board and HSA (Home and School Association) have made a progressive, positive impact as well. All are truly committed and work together to make OLPH the best school for your child to thrive academically, spiritually, and socially. The surrounding community involvement (parish and non parish) is amazing as well. The new Interactive Learning Center or iLC is a must to see. It was literally built overnight (during the summer) and has the adaptability to change as our technology changes.

We feel like we are part of an extended family at OLPH School! The teachers and staff are very dedicated to their students, and they expect involvement from the parents as well. They are strict with behavior but it leads to good self-discipline for the kids, and it's a very loving environment.
