My children attended here for four years. In that time the school administration went through three different principals and presidents. Currently they have a music teacher attempting to act as principal. There is no real guidance or rules that are adhered to. The rules/consequences change every month depending on the staff member.
There is no real guidance on next steps after highschool. My kids basically had to "find their way" into their universities without the help from this school.
You're basically paying for a public school. Don't waste your money.

Three of my children attended Spalding. They all loved their teachers, the bad ones (which are few)eventually get weeded out. The school listens to the kids concerns about lacking teachers. Any time I had an issue I was listened to and things were handled extremely professionally. My kids matured, well mannered, and respectful. The kids are challenged no matter what level they are on. The school gets to know your child personally and pushes them to the best of their ability. No school is perfect, but Spalding is truly an amazing school

My son graduated and currently my daughter is a rising senior. Spalding has done a wonderful job preparing them for higher learning. Both of my children thrived in extracurricular activities as well as sports. The teachers and staff are committed and truly care about the students. I highly recommend Archbishop Spalding. I cannot speak highly enough on what a wonderful school both academic and student oriented it is.

Not an equal opportunity school for a student who is honor roll and has a physical disability

Ethics and zero tolerance is taught here...which I think is very important. Every day is started with a prayer.

Our son was a 2015 graduate. This school prepared him for top notch college acceptances and it's academics can't be beat. Of course, at any school, there are great teachers and not so great teachers. But for the most part his teachers were engaging, caring and provided him with a challenging education. He is a Mechanical Engineering major and had a serious leg up in those classes because of everything he learned in the Pathways to Engineering program. His English classes were good enough to help him max that portion of the SAT and AP tests and allow him to exempt the freshman level English classes at his college.
It is a private school, so with it comes the problems of students who feel privileged, and other things that come from kids with money, such as a few drug problems. Our son found a great group of friends who did not get involved with any of that and he had a wonderful four years. Academically I would recommend Spalding to anyone!

My daughter transferred from a very good public school to attend Spalding at 10th grade. She didn't wanted to transfer in the first place but is very happy that she did. The kids there are lot nicer, very well behaved, etc. she said. Although according to my knowledge the teachers' quality are not even. She couldn't understand her Spanish teacher's English.

To the parent who made the comment "it is a public school except you have to wear a uniform", you are dead wrong. Obviously you have not spent any volunteer time at the school. As a parent who had two children graduate, I cannot say enough good things about this school. They are strict and I am glad. They do not put up with the nonsense that public schools are forced to deal with. I saw several kids get kicked out. The sports program is the best south of Baltimore. ASHS academics are excellent and my kids got accepted to top colleges and many students go to Ivy, military academies, etc.. The administrators hold the kids to high standards and stand by the motto "one in Christ". It is the best value south of Baltimore. So to the parent who wants to transfer to Severn, is it worth the extra $50K?

I do not enjoy this school at all. I am a senior now and the teachers cannot control their students at all. They threaten things but never follow through. There are a wide variety of sports and clubs which is good. I am not very thrilled overall the school is just average.

My son is a freshman at Spalding. He is one that never enjoyed going to school even though he has always done well academically. Now, his demeanor and attitude towards school has changed. He absolutely loves Spalding! Our mornings for the first time are great. The school holds the students to the highest standards when it comes to academics. Students are held accountable. The administration and staff communicate well with the parents and students. They also encourage their students to be involved with sports or the other many extra activities that are offered. The Catholic faith and beliefs are not only taught, but are incorporated in the daily structure of the school. There is much truth to the school motto, that they are all, "One in Christ." Thank you, Archbishop Spalding High School,
