As a parent,my experience has been disappointing.What was once a nurturing,faith-centered environment is now proven to be deeply flawed.The school enforces harsh disciplinary measures that feel more like punishment than constructive correction, creating an oppressive atmosphere.The schools actions take a toll on students mental health,fostering stress,and a toxic environment.Admin lacks the proper qualifications to effectively lead.This has led to poor decisions and a lack of direction.The leadership style does not align with the values and expectations of a Chtistian environment.Teachers are exhibiting extreme hostility towards students,leaving them feeling hopeless and defeated. The schools condescending attitude toward parents is infuriating. I urge families to look elsewhere,there are better options where your childs education and well-being will be priority.This school lacks the ability to foster a supportive and equitable environment for students, staff,and families alike

Honestly, it's only 2 great teaches in middle. If your kid struggles in math this is not the school for you. The math teacher has absolutely no personally and will never offer extra help. The math teacher is much like the old miserable lady in the business office.
There's is no social-emotional support, most of the kids have been there since first grade and they are not nice kids. The middle schools are bullies and the teachers/principle let them get away with. Way too much middle school drama for a private school. The teachers/principle will never provide any social-emotional if your child is being bullied. Because most of the tyrants are the teacher's children .
For example: my daughter was being bullied and the teacher sent my daughter to the counselors office. The counselor told my daughter That the mean girls parents was having a hard time financially and she cant afford nice things like my daughter. So. she should be more patient with the bully." I'm sure this was because the little rude girl was a teachers daughter.
The school is filled with petty drama from the kids, principle, teachers and especially from business office. I'm a pretty calm person and dealing with this tomfoolery after right after my husband unexpectedly passed away is completely unacceptable. For my own mental health, my child will not be returning, and I cant imagine what other parents must deal with. These are just a few of the issues I had to deal with so many other things I could say but I won't.

We have enjoyed the teachers our daughters have had over the years at the school and especially the minister of music they both rave about also teaching them and encouraging (not forcing) them to attend church events as well. They both love the individualized treatment and support of some of the teachers. The school could improve upon social and academic support. As a parent one area of growth or recommendation for the school would be a better system of gaining students attention in a lovingly and encouraging way rather then using a more forceful-yelling tone to gain students attention or to redirect them at times. Society tends to use no or stop frequently then using statements like walk quietly in the hallway or wow what nice quite voices I hear working together on a project. Those motivating words of encouragement help other students improve upon their behaviors, academics and hopefully aim for a more productive and kinder class! Thats the Godly way in my opinion of a faith based education. Overall we have been very happy with the school, childcare and church over the past 9 years.

This was our first year at St. Paul's and our experience has been wonderful. The teachers and staff have been amazing and truly love and pour into our kids daily. Whenever we have reached out to the staff with questions or concerns, we have received immediate and genuine responses. The families that we have had the opportunity to meet have all been so welcoming and become great friends. There is plenty of opportunities to be involved and volunteer at the school, which is nice. Having spent time in the classroom helping, as well as at different school events, it is nice to be able to see firsthand how loving and nurturing the environment is. Our kids have learned so much this year and we are excited to continue to watch them grow and learn in the years to come at SPL.

The school has clear guidelines and provides educating opportunities befitting of each grade level. The teachers thoroughly explain what the expectation is and are involved in seeing the students succeed. The principle is fair and genuinely care about each student. He goes the extra mile to support your child. I feel our child has the best opportunity to learn and succeed at this school. Definitively recommend St. Paul's school to everyone who wants their child to be safe and have the best education.

I have 4 kids attending St Paul's right now, and will have a 5th in another year or two. We have been a part of the school for the past 9 years and I could not imagine being somewhere else.
My children are challenged every day to do their best and as a parent I am very happy with the school's curriculum and how much my children learn every day.
We believe we are not only a part of a school, but most importantly a part of a community. We love the children, the parents, the staff and all of the teachers.
I couldn't be happier to have all of my children attend St Paul's and we plan to stay for all of the years to come.

St. Paul's is one of the pre-eminent private schools in this area. The curriculum is both biblically based, but also much more in-depth than the children would get in the public school system. Parents feel like welcome partners in their children's education, and the school environment provides both learning and social opportunities.

Have not been impressed so far. Some of the staff act very cold and snooty. I feel constantly bombarded with fundraisers or asking for donations. I dont feel as though my child has actually really learned much this year and there seems to be a revolving door of teachers. So many changes for such young children. In K at a different school my child would talk about God and show interest and sing worship songs they learned-not this year. Reminds me of a public school but with uniforms.

My son started at St. Paul's last year for middle school (and he loves it! He went in without knowing anyone and quickly made friends through sports, band, and other extra- curricular activities. The faculty and staff really care about their students' education and well-being. Small classes foster a tight-knit community of students, parents, and friends. My son is doing very well academically, socially, and spiritually at St. Paul's. We couldn't be happier!

In a 2020 world, St Pauls school has been the calm for our family. Our son was so happy to go back, and our family is so happy and comfortable with the policies and procedures the school has outlined. The school sends numerous updates to keep all families informed, and are constantly reminding parents and students what we can do to keep everyone safe. Our son is flourishing this year and the teachers are all the reason. We are extremely grateful the school is open, and remains open so our child does not fall behind. Highly, highly recommend this school.

Wonderful!! We have been at St. Paul's Lutheran School for 9 years and each kept getting better. Amazing learning environment for the students to learn to become responsible and respectful young people. We will miss everything about St. Paul's when we graduate in May.

I feel that there is no space in the character education for "bullying". There is a full time counselor on site to facilitate communication skills between peers where needed. Educators are present and aware during free time for the students, observing the behavior of the group. There is quick and easy communication between home and school. I can honestly report that I have never had my child express anything close to "bullying" while at St. Paul's.

We started in public school system., thinking "how bad can it be?" What I quickly discovered is that the negative behavior of some children was distracting an entire class during instructional time. The classes overall were spending a lot of time and energy studying the same concepts (as seen in homework) and not moving forward at a recognizable pace. So many important concepts had been eliminated from the curriculum that it was hardly recognizable (ie cursive writing). Teachers were doing the best they could without a doubt but frankly, I wanted more for my child and expected more from her educational experience. I could not be more pleased with the entire St. Paul's experience. My only regret is not changing schools earlier than we did.

I feel the homework is adequate. No more than one half hour to forty five minutes a night. The in class and out of class projects have encouraged creativity and public speaking. Expectations are clear. I like to see what day to day instruction includes and homework is a great way to see what is being taught and at what pace.

Each teacher that we have encountered is invested in each student performing to their best ability. The smaller class size allows for more one on one instruction and for the educator to really get to know each student in the class. Teachers are easily accessible to parents and are committed to each child's success.

As a Christian faith based school there is as much of an emphasis on scholastic achievement as there is on character development. This is one of the key differences between public and private schools. I found our public school experience to be a free for all...discipline issues thrown into the same class with advanced level students and students who struggled with the basic material. Time was consumed with calming disturbances and making excuses for poor behavior rather than learning and accepting personal responsibility and accountability for actions. I love the learning environment created and maintained at St.Paul's.

Our principal is new to our school this year but the transition has been seamless. There is a student handbook with clear expectations and clear consequences for deviations from the rules. I have had only positive interactions with the leadership team.

I feel the homework is adequate, it drives home what they were taught that day. As a parent, If I feel my child needs more work on something, I will give him some additional work to help him. It starts off in Pre-K, no homework, then gradually increases the load as the progress in grades.

The instructors are great, they truly care about the student, and if they see the student is falling behind on a subject, they tailor to that and help the student get back on track. This was the case with my son and spelling, they were getting into difficult words, fairly quickly and my child was not catching on. So the teacher dial-ed it back, worked with them on words they did know and started to progress forward, getting him back on track with the other students.

I selected Agree, because there are some approaches I feel should be handled differently, but that is my opinion and I'm sure someone else would feel differently.

I have been extremely happy for the past 6 years at St Paul's. I have 2 kids that attend right now, and 2 will soon join in, when they turn 2. I cannot imagine having my kids attend a different school. The staff is incredible, the teachers are so caring and help the student to achieve greatness.
I only have wonderful things to say about St Paul's!

We have been with the St. Paul's family for over 5 years. The school is very welcoming and feels like home. We know our boys are getting the best education in the most loving environment. They feel safe at St. Paul's and we can't ask for more. The teachers, staff and community are amazing, we can't say enough wonderful things about it.

We have been a part of the St. Paul's Family for 5 years now (PK2-1st grade). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience thus far. The teachers and staff are extremely attentive to the child and parents needs/expectations. Communication with teachers and staff has always been open, easy and prompt. My children feel extremely loved and cared for by everyone in the school. We are blessed to have found this hidden gem in our community.

My son has been attending the school since he was 2. He is finishing up Kindergarten now and we have been very very blessed with the experience of attending St Paul's. We love ALL THE STAFF, and I can say that they have been extremely caring to not only my son , but all the other children in that school as well.

My kids have been at St Paul's since P3 and love it. They've developed both spiritually and socially very well and are above average academically. My kids especially love the new STEM program and are excited to join Robotics Club in middle school! I would love to see them offer it to younger students too. Overall, we are very pleased with St Paul's so far!

Compared to the other state approved Christian private schools in the area (the others are in Severna Park), you can't beat the price of the tuition. Now, on the other hand, this school tries to incorporate a lot of activities for the families. All of which requires payment (money going back to the school). The reason for the 2 stars, the teachers and the principal. The principal spends most of her time sending emails as opposed to checking in on the teachers and the classrooms. And the teachers, this school is filled with older teachers who have their "old" way of thinking and teaching. No differentiation of learning takes place and every activity is a test. No collaboration, communication, STEM---- do not exist in this school. While they do have computer class, that is about it.

Many of the teachers are old. They have an "old" manner in the way they teach. Constant quizzes and tests. Quite frankly, the school feels like a public school, only different is that you are paying $600.00 a month for it.

All busy work. My daughter brings home nothing but papers of worksheets. This is the way the older teachers test for comprehension. The focus is not on the student.

The focus of this school is to continue to get funds for the school. The principal clearly does not focus on student development. I am pretty sure she does not know the students other than those whose parents who donate big bucks to the school.

I do not really write reviews but felt the need to provide an honest review about St.Paul's after seeing some of the reviews that were all submitted on the same day/week. This is an honest review from a parent with 2 kids at this school. This is our third year at St. Paul's. My kid in middle is doing fine, she is an above average student in all of her courses, my kid in elementary is struggling a lot. This school is very fast-paced in the work that is taught to the kids. If your kid is above average then this school will be fine for you. If your child is average or struggles a bit in certain subjects, I will say to look else where. From what I have experienced, the teachers are caring but lack the skills and development to meet the learning needs of various students.

This is my son's first year at St. Paul's. He likes it here and his friends. The school offers a lot of activities for the kids especially with the new principal, such as Falcon Fridays where the parents can come and eat lunch with their kids. However, my concern is with his teacher. His teacher gives A LOT of paper work/tests. As a fellow educator, it oftentimes appears to be busy work. Half of the work, she does not grade but merely puts a star on it to signify that she saw it. Secondly, every week the kids have to memorize a Bible memory verse. Most of the time, my son has no idea what he is memorizing as the teacher does not take time out to explain or go over the memory verse. As we all know, the Bible is sometimes hard to comprehend. Yet, she gives a test every week on the memorized verse. My son now dislikes these memory verses and has said he feels like the Bible is a "pain" which is going against on why we placed him in a Christian school to begin with. Again, I feel this is all busy work. I cannot speak on every teacher, just my experience with his teacher. I'm giving the school one more year and if his next teacher is the same, I will move him.

We love St. Paul's! Our children have been there since they were in preschool, and absolutely love it! We believe the Christian education they are receiving is the best possible for our family. Like every experience, there have been bumps in the road, but we've found that through prayer - and communicating/working with the staff and administration - all situations get resolved appropriately. Our children are loved, respected and treated as individuals. They feel the love of Christ every day, and are confident and happy. We would highly recommend (and have done so) St. Paul's to anyone who values a Christian education but insists on a strong academic experience.

Our Child has been at St. Paul's since P4. He loves the school and has done well. He has ADHD and some other learnig differences. He has faced challenges and so have his teachers. He has always been treated with love and kindness and I can tell you a couple of times; he was a real stinker! He is on par or ahead of his public school friends. He has an extensive vocabulary. He does not speak in slang nor is he disrespecful. He is a happy second grader that loves school and Jesus. We thought we might move and I prepared him for a change to public school. He eyes grew quite large when I told him no prayers. Riding the big yellow school bus went right out the window! James is in the best learning ervironment possible for him to thrive; both academically and spiritually. My friend and neighbor told me about St. Paul's and she loved the school. If more children had this loving atmosphere to learn in I do believe the world would be seeing less violence. I wish I could afford to offer Scholarships for children to St. Paul's. Maybe someday I will. With prayer all thingsare possible.

I have two children who have attended St. Paul's since kindergarten and 1st grade and are currently in middle school. We were referred to the school by a friend whose children also attend the school. Though we are not Lutheran, the atmosphere has been very welcoming. Both of my children have done well, but particularly my elder child, who came to the school from the county Early Childhood Intervention preschool for speech delay. My son, who did not speak until he was four years old, has thrived both academically and socially. He participates in Art Club, plays trumpet in the Advanced Band and this year was accepted into the Chesapeake Youth Orchestra, and he has made the honor roll every semester of middle school. My other son is active in several of the sports programs offered at the school, including basketball and flag football. He also play trombone in the Advanced Band. Next year we will be applying to private high schools in the area, but our departure from the St. Paul s family will be bitter sweet as we will miss everyone from the other families, to the teachers and even the facilities manager who always has a smile for the children.

My daughter is starting her 2nd year at St. Pauls this coming school year and she absolutely loves it here. I am very pleased with the Teachers and staff, they take the time with the students getting to know them and their needs. They also help them on a one on one and group settings. The atmosphere of the school is very friendly and welcoming. I have never had any issues with the Administration if I should have a question someone is always there to answer and if they cant answer they direct me to someone who can. The school makes it very easy to communicate with the teachers and staff if you should have any questions or just want updates on how your child(ren) are doing in class. Since my daughter has started at St. Pauls I have seen a huge improvement in her skills compared to what they were like at her previous school. St. Pauls also offers a before/after school program for those parents who cant get off work to pick their child(ren) up after school hours. The staff is great, they teach how to do different activities with the kids and playing with them. I would recommend St. Pauls to any of my friends/family.

Our family has two children who currently attend the school and one who graduated, attended a top private high school, and will be graduating from college in May. After he left St. Paul s Lutheran School he was well prepared for both high school and college. Each of my children have developed friendships with classmates that I am sure will continue for the rest of their life, as well as a love and appreciation of our Lord. My son who is in seventh grade participates in many extracurricular activities. He plays with the band, plays soccer and flag football and is a member of the Art Club. My daughter excels academically and has blossomed from a shy preschooler to a vivacious and outgoing fourth grader. The academic atmosphere has fostered a love of reading in all of my children. I used to say I can t get their noses out of their books, but now I have to say I can t get them to turn off their Kindles! I highly recommend the school for any family in search of a Christian school that provides a firm academic foundation for their higher education.

We have two children that currently attend St. Paul s. We were referred by a co-worker and have been a St. Paul s family for the past seven years. This review may be of interest to a specific set of parents as both of our children have ADHD. Most of the teachers have been more than accommodating with our children with one teacher in particular, Troy Bauer, being a top-notch supporter of children with different learning styles. We had a conversation prior to the beginning of my older child s sixth grade year. When I explained that my daughter had ADHD, he rattled off several different cases that he had encountered over the years and how he adapted his teaching methods to accommodate these children. I cannot begin to explain my sense of relief at not having to fight the system as many of my friends and co-workers have had to do with other schools. Should tutoring be needed, several of the teachers offer their services at very reasonable rates. Overall we have been very pleased with St. Paul s and would like to echo the sentiment of the other reviewers wish there was a high school!

The atmosphere at St Pauls is unchristian and demeaning to children. Good instruction is the exception rather than the rule. The academics are substandard with many teachers relying solely on unrelated movies, worksheeets and busywork to fill class time, despite hefty book bills and activity fees to the families. The administration is unwilling to listen to parent concerns or make changes, and an an air of superiority as well as racism pervades. Definitely not worth the time or money spent.

St. Pauls is a great school for a christian education. The staff is great. The only problem I have has nothing to do with the school,but the other parents. I am not sure why, but they think it is ok to invite just about every kid to birthday parties, sleepovers, etc and exclude 3 or 4 kids. Those kids have to hear all the other kids disussing all these parties and that causes very hurt feelings. So if you don't mind your childs feelings being hurt several times a year then this is the pefect school.

This is my daughter's 1st year (K) at St. Paul's and she has loved it. She participates in accelerated reading and is well above her math skills level. The curriculum is more than what I expected K to be but I'm amazed at how much my daughter has learned this school year. The school is strict but I'm always impressed with how the students are very respectful. Although, I love this school very much and teachers have shown much love and attention to the children I don't feel it's the right fit for a child with special needs or attention. The curriculum is intense and there is a lot to cover that I can see how a child could fall behind.
