The middle school math program is seriously lacking. They need to hire a qualified teacher for math. They also need newer materials. The book that is being used is at least 15 years old. Teacher also not willing to help any children and stay after for help. When most of the students are doing poorly that means that there is an issue with the teaching. Wake up and do something about it. Put the fundraising money where it is needed..don't cut transportation for field trips. Do more for the kids..especially the middle school kids. All sorts of programs for the young ones..Learn to Ride A Bike,etc.but nothing for middle school.

Our children spent their early years in Anne Arundel’s public schools, before transferring to St. Martin’s during the pandemic. I am extremely happy with that decision.

My children have been welcomed into the St. Martin’s community with open arms and have thrived. Perhaps even more importantly, they’ve been gifted the chance to navigate the ever-difficult middle school years in a well-grounded environment: you will find a diverse, accepting student body, but you won’t find your child pressured to conform to social mores promulgated by this week’s Tik Tok trends. If you’re interested in giving your child space to grow on their own, you couldn’t ask for more.

School leadership changed a couple of years ago and the current Head of School enthusiastically leads a revitalized teaching staff. We have found the school to be academically challenging (moreso than the public schools we were assigned), but grounded in solid pedagogy. The intimate class sizes prevented them from slipping below the radar, so to speak, and as a result they’ve consistently achieved excellent academic results while forging lasting relationships with peers and teachers.

I would highly recommend St. Martin’s to any Annapolis area parent!

I went to St. Martins for Pre-K through 8th grade thinking the school was great! I absolutely loved the school, the teachers, and the kids there; however moving from St. Martin's to a public high school was honestly eye opening.

Moving from St. Martins to Spalding is a much easier transition based off of my fellow peers' experience, they have all excelled in Religion, English, and Spanish, but have struggled to make the transition to math courses, specifically Algebra 2 with trig.

Moving to an Anne Arundel County Public School is much different though. St. Martins focusses greatly on English and Social Studies courses as well as Religion, and this shows when students take higher level English courses as well as with Spanish courses, the best part of St. Martins education in my opinion was Spanish. But because St. Martins doesn't keep up with the public schools in social studies everything learned in the three years of Social Studies classes proves worthless and the overall rigor of AP US History will blow freshmen away, due to the lack of prior knowledge. If math courses and science courses were better this would prove as a minor setback and could be dealt with by extra studying or one on one time with teachers, but due to the lack of preparation for high school math and science it is just one more thing on top of everything else. Students moving into Algebra 2 from geometry at St. Martins must be ready to spend extra time with their teacher at least once a week or else they will flounder. The school teaches incredible geometry BASICS however no intense algebra is taught which is a must have basic for algebra 2. Science was almost looked over at St. Martins however unless your student takes AP Bio they should be fine playing catch up.

I genuinely loved St. Martins but the high school preparation within the middle school is just not there. I did make life long friends there but friends can't get you good grades for college, teachers have to do that.

We have had our son in this school for 8 years. It is a wonderful school and a great learning environment. He has blossomed at the school. We are extremely happy with the Middle School in particular. The teachers and staff provide a structured environment that includes room for the kids to discover their own way.

St Martin's is a warm and nurturing environment with excellent teachers. My children are really thriving there. St. Martin's has a strong academic program with great care taken to help each child reach his or her full potential.

Our son is just finishing Kindergarten at St. Martin's, and We have been so pleased with the school. St. Martin's was an idea atmosphere for our son, with a loving, community atmosphere, and small class sizes. My son loves school, the activities he gets to participate in, and his friends in his class. He also really loves his teacher (and feels loved by her). We were so relieved and grateful that my son's first experience with all-day school was in Mrs. Glava's class. More important than the reading and math lessons, she worked hard to instill self-esteem, compassion, and community in the kids. My son often got hand-written notes from Mrs. Glava encouraging him or pointing out something specific she was proud of. Mrs. Glava also picked up on some challenges that my son was having and managed to give him extra help without making him feel inadequate or turning him off from learning. Communication to parents was also excellent. I didn't have much interaction with Mr. Moorhead, but the interaction I did have was pleasant, and he always made himself available (I just never had to talk to him about anything.)

This is an excellent school!. I have two children currently enrolled (5th and 1st grade). The teachers are incredible, very caring, passionate and extremely competent. New leadership (beginning in 2013) will grow this school into the best in the county. Small class size and make up of student population creates a great learning environment. Like all private schools in the area, tuition is expensive but well worth it.

this school is the worst school. All of the good teachers have left and only one replacement is good. I have learned nothing eceipt social studies math, and a little English. the principal has no leadership. All the students and staff and parents are scared of her.

As a student who has gone to this school for many years now, I am very happy with the education I have received. The teachers I have had at this school are wonderful and the classes are fun and interesting. I feel that I will be well-prepared for my high school career. The school is very small. One class only has 11 kids, 9 girls and 2 boys. The class sizes range from 11 to 24. Being in the same class for many years with the same people can be boring to the older students. It's not a very diverse school. Most of the kids are very close. We know each other inside and out. Personally, I have felt quite lonely here because of my shyness. The school does have problems, but they try to sort them out as best they can. There have been issues in the middle school with people's things being stolen in their lockers, but for the most part nothing bad happens here. It really does feel like being part of a family. Everyone knows each other, and we're all very friendly. I have been blessed to go here, and this place will always be my second home. I'm sure all the leaving students will take something wonderful away from St. Martin's. I know I'll take away many memories, the good and the bad.

The number one thing going for this very small school (K-8, with total student population of approx. 220) is the involvement of the parents. Without their involvement, the school would suffer dramatically. Teachers range from below average to very, very good; however, it is clearly a very average overall staff. Every school has its' challenges, and it is how those challenges are managed that makes all the difference. The biggest single problem is the lack of leadership among the administrators. For although several problems exist, the administration is reluctant to admit to the short comings and ill-equiped to deal with them.
