Our daughter is a senior at Seton, and we are grateful to her dedicated, excellent teachers and awesome admissions team. This year the Counsellors office is doing a fantastic job guiding them as they walk through the College Applications process. They offer SAT prep and PSAT support. They also have Saturday Essay writing and Scholarship applying sessions. Our daughter's friendships are strong and reflect Seton's sisterhood which is diverse and inclusive. The President Dr. Lisa Grillo brings a strong vision to empower and prepare Seton students and calm, thoughtful and prayerful leadership. She is warm and genuinely interested in each and every student's dreams and accomplishments. All of the staff seem to want to cultivate confidence in them to excel. Mrs. McDonough, the principal is always helpful and responsive. Students are encouraged to advocate for themselves, especially with class selection & teachers. Over the past two years, there has been a tremendous shift to expose the students to events with national leaders, business owners, career fairs, service and internship opportunities. The lunch menu needs to be tweaked, yes. The are many clubs to join and have a leadership role in or you can petition to start your own. Arts, Dance and Athletics is heavily supported and cheered for. If you love music, Dr. Tatum welcomes you regardless of your skill level. The Orchestras, Choir and Honors Wind Ensemble compete nationally, and again won in New York with a superior rating. The Choir was honored to be invited to perform at the White House! They offer Pre-Career Programs in Law, Engineering & Pharmacy and the Young Women's Entrepreneurship Program with a Professional Etiquette class students love -taught by Ms. Lawson. My daughter gives a shout out to Mrs. Teal-Kilmer, called Ms. T-K!, Mr. O'Connor and Ms. Mary Crane.

my experience was truly terrible. During my senior year, I had trouble with figuring out ways to attend college. the staff and also the president refused to help me when i needed them the most. I was denied for loans and did recieve money for financial aid but it was not enough. Since my mother is the only parent I have and she is also an immigrant, I was denied for loans and had no other family member to help me loans or scholarships; I was on my own.

The president of the school failed to teach the current and past students who have attend Seton Compassion, integrity, and respect for the black students and community.

After looking at multiple schools, my daughter selected Seton. We have no regrets. Sister Ellen Marie cares so much about giving these girls the best experience available. My daughter gets all A’s. It’s not easy. The curriculum is challenging. There’s lots of after school activities too. Tuition is affordable. The school is diverse and it feels like home, to both of us!

About 3 years ago, our daughter visited and shadowed at multiple outstanding Catholic High Schools in the Archdiocese of Washington and Baltimore. She chose Elizabeth Seton over all of them. The reason was very simple: the people. The faculty, students, staff and coaches warmly and sincerely welcomed her into the school community; they made her feel safe, comfortable, and special even as a prospective student. We are very happy she made that choice because we believe the Elizabeth Seton community has shaped her into a caring, intelligent, and hard working young leader. The school has offered her so many opportunities to grow in a such a positive way. The LEAD program, sports program, Ambassador program, to name a few are all first class programs that have prepared her to reach her goals. The challenging and solid academic program (great teachers) has helped her develop strong time management skills, accountability and pride in her work. The sports programs has developed her team first mentality and competitive but grounded framework. We are so pleased with our first daughter’s experience that our other daughters will follow the Roadrunner path. We highly recommend Elizabeth Seton if you value a school culture that offers a wonderful blend of solid academic & spiritual education, effective discipline, innovative thinking and genuine goodness.

This is my daughter's 3rd year at Elizabeth Seton. She has encountered excellent teaching and a wide range of course offerings. There are ample options for girls to take honors and AP classes and Seton has a pre-law program, a STEM course of study, and pre-pharmacy program. The music program features excellent chorus, band, and orchestra options in addition to an active chapter of Tri-M, National Music Honor Society. Teachers are widely accessible and my daughter's guidance counselor is committed to knowing and supporting the girls in her care. There are many clubs and athletic teams available for students - basically, there is something for everyone at Elizabeth Seton. We were impressed by the atmosphere when we first attended an open house and have not been disappointed. My youngest daughter is now in 8th grade and wants to look at no other school than Seton. I think I will have another Seton Roadrunner next year! While there is not a perfect school anywhere, I recommend this school without reservations.

I currently am a member of the class of '19 at Seton and I've loved these past two years! The teachers I've had so far are great and are really helpful when you need it. I currently sing as a Soprano 1 in Seton Chorale and am excited to return next year. I also am participating in our school's first musical in about 20 or so years. Unlike our public school counterparts, we don't have standardized testing other than the PSAT, SAT, and ACT; but we do have midterms and finals. Events like pep rallies, school dances, and field day are pretty fun. We're quite known for our basketball team, and they're great players. Last year, I really struggled in math, but with the combined help of the Bayley Program and my math teacher at the time, I've really improved! The performing arts program is amazing and we've achieved so much since I've started attending! Seton is a great school, and I can't wait to meet the classes of '21-'22!

I am a current parent at the school and have been so happy with the friends my daughter has made. They are polite, cheerful, and bright. My kid has good teachers, a reasonable amount of homework, and is playing a sport. She agrees that Seton's focus on growing "women leaders" is not just a marketing ploy- it's actually happening!

We have four daughters. Two are currently in Seton. We have a senior and a freshman. A third will be starting next year and our youngest in 2019. I cannot say enough good things about this school, the Sisters of Charity, the staff and the girls themselves.
Sr. Ellen Marie and her staff care greatly for each and every girl. I've watched my oldest blossom into an amazing young woman and I attribute much of that to Elizabeth Seton High School.
We transferred into D.C. from England at the start of our oldest daughter's sophomore year. She decided to try out for the field hockey team even though she didn't know anyone on the team. The girls were friendly and welcoming. When my daughter struggled to complete the mile and half run her future teammates ran back to her and then ran with her, encouraging her the entire way, until they all finished together. What a joy it was to receive such encouragement in the face of what felt like an impossible task.
Our second daughter started this year. She's long struggled with her ADD. Sr. Ellen Marie included her in the school's Bayley Program. It's a two-year long program designed to help girls with learning differences. The program provides the girls one period a day with a teacher who helps them learn to organize themselves. She teaches them to break down assignments from other teachers into manageable tasks, plan how they're going to accomplish their goals and helps keep them on track by following up and checking their progress. My daughter has gone from thinking she was dumb and couldn't learn to planning for her college years. She also always struggled with math. The Academic advisor tested her and discovered she had gaps in her learning. They also noticed a few other girls in other classes were struggling. When they tested them they discovered they all had gaps. The school contracted for a separate tutor to come in and teach those seven girls everyday in an effort to get them caught up. And they did all of this at no extra charge.
We have moved many times over the last 18 years and have been a part of some wonderful schools. But never have we felt more at home, more a part of a school, more a true member of a school family until we came to Elizabeth Seton. Yes, the tuition can be a challenge, but it is so worth it to see our girls grow and succeed in their academic career. If you have a high school age daughter, bring her to Seton as soon as possible. You will never regret it!

I have not heard of any incidents of bullying at Seton but since it has been in the news, the school did have a session with all the girls letting them know that bullying would not be tolerated.

Each of our daughter's classes offers a variety of learning approaches which accommodates different learning styles. Plus the girls seem to really enjoy helping each other learn and accomplish as a group.

This character development focus has been one of the features that we have appreciated the most. She could learn math a lot of places, but being in a setting which has led her to develop her own sense of integrity and respect has been critical. I see that in how our daughter's self esteem has grown over the years at Seton.

Each of our daughter's teachers has been very available should she need help. Each year there is an opportunity to meet the teachers and all seem willing to answer questions. If we have emailed the teacher with a question, we always get an answer back within 24 hours. These teachers are clearly committed to helping the girls get a great education.

The online portal is a huge help in tracking what is due the next day as well as in the near future. That has really helped our daughter plan her time and see what is coming.

Our daughter transferred to Seton from a public high school because we were looking for a smaller, more individualized learning setting. At Seton, she likes the small classes and the individual help she can get if needed. A couple times when she has struggled her teachers have contacted us and asked how they can help...that never happened in public school! In addition to a solid set of academic opportunities (several Honors and AP classes), we really like the school's commitment to helping the girls grow as "young empowered women" with a strong sense of confidence. In looking at the sports and club list, there is something for almost any interest. Our daughter is involved in two sports which have certainly been good exercise but also forced her to do better on her time management. The school counseling program has helped with her college hunt by making suggestions on the best fit for her needs and skills. The prep sessions for SAT and ACT have certainly helped improved her scores. Overall, we are very pleased with our daughter's experience at Seton, and as parents, we have certainly enjoyed getting involved in the Seton community.

Depends on the class. The science teachers are the most effective and if you are good at math, they can be effective too.

The all-girl environment is probably the best aspect of the school for girls who are distracted easily by boys or those who have low self-esteem. However, there still may be distractions from classmates who clearly are not interested in learning that day.

In terms of ACADEMICS, the science department is probably one of the best with a new pharmacy program having a high passing rate for the exam this year. The art and music departments are also good and they both give students great opportunities such as the music trip to Myrtle Beach. The math department is probably one of the worst departments for those who already struggle in math. The teachers designated for the standard math classes are not the best and the students often seek help from teachers who teach the Honors or AP courses. The honors and AP math courses move at a respectable pace and are well taught.

There is a strict uniform code that was updated this year and there were many complaints from the students. The blazer actually makes the uniform with the skirt look a lot cleaner for the winter. But the students often complain about having to wear the blazer for most of the day except when in the classroom.

The LOCATION also isn't one of the best. The students are allowed to only use one Metro bus stop and not allowed to go to the stores down the street. The school has also implemented new safety rules which they follow sometimes. The campus is mostly crime free but the surrounding areas are not. Most of the students do not wander off campus after school anyway.
