My daughter is a current 9th grader and for the most part enjoys the school has made a few really good friends in her short time there and is being challenged in the classroom. so the education part is working out really well. my one complaint is that I wish more attention was paid Into how the students interact between one another. There is a definite bully issue going on at the school which has been brought to the attention of various staff but nothing has been done to remedy the situation that i can tell. I have had my daughter come home a few times so upset that she would go take a shower and I would hear her crying through the door which would break any parents heart I'm sure. As a family we have discussed moving her to another school but she wants to stay just because of the good friends that she has made and she doesn't believe running away will help she wants to stay and try to be a part of a class that will change this culture and hopes to help the school foster a more inclusive environment. I believe this bully issue is actually being fostered by the school by there allowance of a hierarchy system where seniors and upperclassmen are allowed to treat the freshmen class as less than. I fully agree with and believe that as you get older you should be allowed more privilege's but you should never be allowed to belittle and treat someone as less than because they are younger than you. This is such a mental drain on young girls and is part of the reason why so many of our youth today struggle with mental health. If this continues next year i will take the decision out of her hands and remove her without a doubt and would recommend to any and all people I know to send there precious gifts from god somewhere else.

I have had 2 daughters go through AHC for a total of 8-years, and I have never witnessed bullying, belittling, or taunting.

They have always encouraged our girls to challenge, discover, and learn. After AHC, they have moved easily through college with a confidence and participatory balance that was achieved through the all girl education experience at AHC. I highly recommend this school.

The girls at the Academy of the Holy Cross have a unique atmosphere where they are encouraged to excel, but at the same time help others. At AHC they are able to do this by working with the Moreau scholars program at school (an inclusive education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities).

The Academy of the Holy Cross experience for my family has been excellent. My girls were able to study and learn at their own pace, and gained a confidence in themselves that may sometimes be inhibited in coed academic atmospheres.

This school develops women on character, commitment, and respect for themselves and each other. There is a strong desire for the students to be good upstanding individuals and be accountable for their actions.

I would rate my experience at the school as being a comprehensive experience. Not only are these girls getting a great education and learning to be independent thinkers but they are taking responsibility for their education. They are developing not only the mind but the total person.

Our daughter has formed many good friendships and has some excellent teachers; however, teacher turnover is quite high and she even had a teacher leave mid-year. The most disappointing part of AHC is its inept administration. There is poor communication and a lack of transparency. Many Emails expressing concern are not answered. If we could do it over again we would not send our daughter here. It has been a very disappointing experience and not worth $24,000 a year.

I had two daughters graduate from AHC. It was one of the best investments for education we spent our monies for. My oldest daughter transferred in and was accepted with open arms. The girls took to her and she loved the school. I wish she started at AHC as a freshman like our youngest daughter. Now youngest daughter took close to a year to get used to attending an all-girls schools. However, from her sophomore year she could not get enough of the school. She started off slow academically and then ended up being recognized in honors for two classes.

AHC is stresses writing and it is paying off in college for my daughters. Furthermore, thanks to Ms. Donna the legendary dance teacher and the strong Performing Arts programs; my daughters are doing shows and performances in college.

I do have to admit there have been changes to some of the LOTA's traditions, and some of their sports programs have struggled during my daughters junior and senior. When we started coming in 2010, Basketball, Field Hockey and Lacrosse were either national ranked and/or ranked in the DMV. Now Volleyball and Lacrosse are the dominate sports programs. BTW, there are still roughly 8-10 LOTA’s playing D1 basketball and volleyball.

Holy Cross needs to bring administrators' and coaches who understand LOTA's traditions and understand the culture. You can have both academics and athletics performed at a high level; GV does it!

But overall, our family believes this is a very good school and would recommend to potential parents to at least entertaining and recognized that though the school is small it delivers big outcomes for preparing for the future.

One of my 5 daughters attended Holy Cross. She received an excellent education that prepared her well for college. She is working now as a nurse. Great young woman, who has stayed close with many of her friends from Holy Cross, stayed active in her Catholic faith.

The president and principal are ruining the school, treating girls like toddlers one minute and prisoners of war the next. It is a very cliquey school with a lot of mean spirited interaction.

Some years like sophomore year I was buried. Junior year was a joke. I learned almost nothing because I got no homework junior year.

Many of the teachers have advanced degrees but they are inexperienced and are either bad teachers or leave after one year. The others seem burnt out or bored.

This is a terrible school with declining enrollment. The administration are petty and incompetent. For every decent teacher there are 3 who can't/won't teach. The faculty turnover is unbelievable. They claim they are preparing young women for their futures, but they fail to provide even minor guidance. Girls are targeted by the administration and by fellow students for harassment. Punishment is doled out by the administration in uneven and extremely harsh ways. That is, of course, unless you are writing checks for the never ending Holy Cross begathon. The atmosphere there is extremely unhealthy and a large portion of the girls are miserable. The sports teams are a shadow of what the once were. The school is kept at subzero temperatures in winter and sweltering in the warmer weather because the President is trying to save money. Tuition increases $1-3K per year. We wanted to take our daughter out in sophomore year, but stupidly allowed her to remain. A damaged self-esteem, terrible experience and poor education is all we got for $80k+.

A great environment - wonderful blend of academics, athletics, arts and leadership opportunities. Girls are open and respectful of each other and have a great bond. Teachers and faculty genuinely care for students and go out of their way to help them succeed. College counseling program is the envy of other schools in the area.

Academy of the Holy Cross is not that great of a school. The teachers teach the lessons too fast and expect students to ace the test and quizzes. The girls there are also very catty and rude. Not a great school.

This is an outstanding school that is among the best in Montgomery County, Maryland. It prepares young women for the rtgors of college academics and produces young ladies who are prepared to serve in leadeship roles. Well grounded in superior academics, sports and performing arts, students of the academy are women of courage, compassion and scholarship.

Fostered growth, independence and spirituality. The teachers were highly skilled in their profession and passionate about their students. The school's setting was comfortable like one giant family. It was a pivotal period of time in my life that I will never foret.

Holy Cross had to be the best thing that has ever happened to me thus far. I could not have asked for a greater group of friends to go through high school with and I know I can rely on any of them at any moment. My whole class has such a strong bond. As mentioned in another post, the academics are underestimated but I completely disagree. At my first year in college, I have done so well in all of my classes. The english department has prepared me to the fullest and my resume is awesome for high school because of all the community service. I would recommend Holy Cross to any parent that asked!

I loved my time at Holy Cross! The girls are very friendly and welcoming to all people. AHC has a strong theater, art, and writing program. AHC definitely needs to work on it's science program. I'm currently a sophomore in college, and I can certainly say Holy Cross put me at a disadvantage by not offering the proper laboratories and course material that my other classmates have. With that being said, my 4 years at AHC were the best years my life (so far)!
