This school truly cares about the WHOLE child! The administrative team revamped the mission statement and core values last year and has made decisions that align. I liked the school before but I really love it for both of my children now. Its more than grades; its Jesus-focused first and academic growth next. I highly recommend!

My children experienced Grace for their Prek-upper elem years. We had to leave the school just last year for family reasons. I felt led to leave a review after reading the recent comments. I urge you to check the school out for yourself, find current families and hear their experience, and then decide if Grace is for you. Is any school perfect? No. But I would not send my kids to any other place and it broke my heart when we had to leave. I can say with full confidence that the teachers and staff will care for your students from the moment they arrive on campus-from the admin and office staff to the teachers to the maintenance team. Before enrolling, look at the handbook because all of the schools policies are in them and that is what admin uses to make their decisions. They stick to policy. If I could, I would bring my family back to Grace to finish out their middle school years!

My child has been a student at Grace Christian Academy for 5 years and we could not be happier! Every school has its strengths and weaknesses, but overall, we could not be more pleased with our experience at Grace. Every teacher that my child has had has loved her for exactly who she is, challenges and all. They have cared for my daughter as a WHOLE-child and not just her report card grades. Any questions that I have had throughout the years, have always been answered by the teachers or administration in a timely manner. The administration works extremely hard to find qualified teachers that will work for significantly less money than public school teachers, and more importantly that they love Jesus, have a relationship with Him and can teach our children about Him. The NWEA MAPS testing used gives us valuable insight on how my child progresses throughout the school year. They complete the testing in the Fall, Winter, and Spring and it aligns to National Standards and is recommended by the school's accrediting body, ACSI. In recent years, we've seen a lot of continual improvements being made to the facility, updated testing, curriculum reviews, new STEM program (which my daughter LOVES), an Enrichment program, and new additions to the staff that have advanced degrees in Education. I felt very strongly about writing this positive review because all too often the only people that take the time to write a review are ones that have complaints. As stated, no school is perfect, but I have recommended many friends to this school with confidence and wanted to take the time to publicly share a positive review.

Grace Christian Academy lacks diversity in teachers, the curriculum, and administrative staff. The people making decisions do not reflect the majority population of students. Therefore, the policies and procedures in place do not support the needs of African-American children. The director of education and upper grade level elementary school teachers do not work with parents. They lack the ability to foster parent teacher, community relationships in order to support the growth and development of the students. The upper elementary school teachers lack classroom management skills and struggle with managing student behaviors. Some of the teachers and staff have exhibited racist behaviors. They target students whose parents question policies, procedures, teaching practices, and leadership skills. The director of education is rude and will support certain classroom teachers at the expense of the your children.

If your child receives accommodations run as far away as you can from this place. They will not implement the accommodations and try to sell you a math intervention that cost an extra 4k.

Students cannot learn when they spend 10 minutes for spelling, 15 minutes in reading, and the schedule changes every day.

I would like to express my positive impression of the school when we enrolled. It's important to acknowledge that no school is without its fair share of challenges and imperfections. However, I regretfully cannot endorse this particular school due to a significant issue that arose during my daughter's final year. The school faced a problem involving teachers using racist language, which deeply concerns me. Even more troubling is the school's failure to take any meaningful action, despite being aware that this was not the first incident involving the same teacher. It appears that the school employed a selective approach, using religious texts to justify and overlook this individual's actions. Unfortunately, students of color were unfairly treated and subjected to swift punishment when it comes to disciplinary measures. I really didn't want to write this, but I want to make any parent aware of this issues at the school. A change needs to happen in the school starting with leadership.

If you are looking for a REAL Christian School that has your child's best interest at heart, run far away from Grace academy. There is nothing Christian about this place. We cant wait until the school year is over next month , so that my 6 year old grand daughter doesn't have to return to this place. The director Dwayne Johnson has no idea how to run a school ,and is definitely not Christian. Acts nothing like a Christian man, along with the teachers and administration. My grand daughter learned more at day care than she ever learnt at Grace. Education quality is truly subpar. She was constantly complaining about being bullied and once we complained, they tried to turn the whole thing around on a 6 year old ,and never took responsibility, and started treating us like outcasts because we spoke up. This school is just a public school that charges tuition. They care NOTHING about the children, its all about the money for them.
Please don't fall for their lies. If you love your child, never send them to this school.

I have gone to this school for the first time for my 6th grade year and it's a terrible school and I gotta say that this school is a bad place because I went to this school, and I have gotten bullied and picked on by all of the boys in the 6th grade and al of the girls in the 6th grade. The bad part is that the teachers don't care about you getting bullied and the director of the school doesn't care either. I was the most hated kid in the 6th grade when I went here. Don't go to this school, or you will get bullied and hated every day. This school is trash.

Please, please, PLEASEif you are looking for a good Christian school that enforces its rules, handles bullying/student issues appropriately, quality education, etcdo not send your children here. Do not be fooled by the illusion that this a good school, I am telling you this is just a public school that charges tuition and includes Bible classes. Large classroom sizes, teachers who cant handle the rowdy unruly kids that are allowed to enroll and remain enrolled here, subpar education, lack of supervision which leads to repeated fights breaking out/ injured childrenI could go on and on. And not to mention the lack of response or even an appropriate response from the interim principal when parents address their concerns. My family is not new to the Christian/private school world so we know that the way things are at GCA is not the norm nor should it be tolerated. We are paying a lot of money and should be getting far more than what we have gotten from this school. 20 days and counting left at this institution and they could not go by fast enoughneedless to say we will not be returning in the fall.

The people are very judge mental. You have teachers arguing on social media that trump won the election. You have teachers claiming their feminist but they say women cannot be pastors. If you want your kids to be independent thinkers do not send them here. Most people who graduate tend to have knee jerk reactions to what they were taught at GCA

The School has recently changed what days certain teachers can give homework and lightened the load on students a bit but the homework's effectiveness will vary depending on the class and teacher.

Most teachers at this school cannot control their students in their classes and do not inspire a sense of authority over their students which leads to many classes being chaotic and in need of an administrator to come assist the teacher.

I've gone to this school for 6 years and can say that the entire school is going to a bad place fast. Over those years the school has hired some exceptional staff but end up firing them the after their first year and will either replace them with someone far worse or someone already employed at the school. They also seem to have a major problem finding English teachers that are good at their job and that will stay for more than one year. The building is also slowly falling apart and the school is being very slow in fixing issues or just waiting till they become a big problem like a recent event where an AC blew out in the middle of the day and started smoking up a few rooms. If this school does not reverse it ways soon it will just loose more and more money, students, and staff. The schools teachings do also inspire a lot of homophobia, trans-phobia, and bigotry but it's a christian school so what else would you expect.

I would have checked 'disagree' a few years ago. I was seriously considering leaving because of the leadership. I only stayed because the program was best for my children despite the leadership.
The interim director two years ago began a drastic change for the better. The new permanent director is continuing and improving upon that trend.

I have two children at Grace. Over the past five years the school has gone from average to good and now to great for one distinct reason. The academics are solid and there is a new push to make them elite. The clubs and sports are decent. But the reason my children are staying at Grace and I would encourage you to bring yours is the true Christian culture and community. The administration and staff at Grace love God. They also love teaching children to love God and to learn as a byproduct of a sincere relationship with Christ. Getting into a good four year college is important to us and I believe Grace is equipping my kids to do that. I also believe my children are having a pleasant social experience. I KNOW they are being taught biblical values to shape their character, traits that will last their entire lives. This is why my kids are at Grace. If you feel the same way, this is the school for you and your child.

Isn't suspicious that number of staff or staff family members are posting all these sugar-coated reviews? GCA is not a great school. The administration is not open to dialogue with parents. They do not act upon parent's concerns. It is sad that your opinions only become of interest to them when you send in the withdrawal notice. My kids were at GCA for few years, it was not a conducive environment. Kids are not treated fairly. If you happen to be staff kids you have all the privileges. Otherwise forget it. The only assets, GCA has, are the lower elementary teachers. They are very dedicated individuals. Other then that all is facade. Do your homework before sending your kids there and make sure your kids will fit in. If you have an outgoing type of kids, think again. Hopefully the massive exodus of 2013 made the school realize the importance of taking parental feedbacks into account. Number of changes were made but would that be sufficient. Most of the people swearing by this school need to go the other private schools in the Washingtonian region and they will hopefully understand that their kids are been robbed intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Grace has provided our sons with an excellent academic and spiritual foundation. We have experienced the Preschool, Elementary, and Middle School programs and are pleased with them. The teachers and staff have invested in our sons' lives and have truly cared about them. I love the school! This is my daughter's second year and she has learned so much. The love the teachers have for the students is priceless and the teachings on Christ and his love for us is amazing. I love that she is learning so many bible stories at such an early age (Pre-K). My daughter looks forward to going to school every day and that makes me a very happy Mom. I could never thank the staff at Grace enough for their ministry and teaching.

PROS: * most of the teachers at Grace truly love the Lord and care about the students they will bend over backwards to help students learn. * good athletic program for a smaller school * great world languages program- provides summer trips to Europe and Asia * awesome missions' trip in senior year that can be life-changing. * all the secondary bible teachers are excellent and are solid in their biblical understanding... they are gracious towards students who come into GCA from non-Christian homes. They truly have a desire to see all kids come to know and love Jesus! CONS: * if you are looking for a Christian school environment in which the majority of students are saved and from strong Christian homes, GCA may not be for the place for your child. * In the middle and high school, there has been an influx lately of students who have behavior problems and are somewhat disruptive. * To be fair though, the director/secondary administration are excellent and work hard to crack down on disruptive students, but a lot of these behaviors occur under the radar of what the teachers and administration see. All in all, a decent school, but not for every Christian family.

GCA is a great place for students to love God with all their minds! They are challenged in all classes to develop expertise and to do so in a godly manner. I love teaching at GCA as a Foreign Language teacher. GCA currently offers various language choices for students in secondary school: Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, and American Sign Language. The best part about being at GCA is that no students "fall through the cracks" - all the staff care about our students. Students can always find someone who will be "on their side" as they journey through their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual milestones.

My spouse works at Grace Christian Academy and I have seen a lot of good things happen through the school, and ultimately the Lord. I have seen kids with a troubled childhood come to this school and turn their lives around by becoming closer to the Lord and through long lasting friendships at the school. The faculty invests heavily in each kid's life and genuinely cares for the kids there. The school also has many great athletic programs that are better than many other schools in the area.

My child is in the preschool program at Grace Christian Academy. One of the many aspects of Grace that are a blessing to my family is the love my child feels from his teacher. He is greeted every day with a smile and a hug. I can tell that he appreciates the individual attention. And I appreciate Christ's love that is being shown through Grace's teachers. I have two children who have attended Grace; one started in first grade, graduated and is now in an honors program and on the Presidents list at college. The other started at grace in PreK and is now a senior. I have been around the school for many years and, just like any other school or workplace, they are not perfect; nor are Christians; they are humans who love The Lord and are trying to be more like Him everyday. I would not have kept my children at this school if I did not truly believe they were being taught at a higher level, and being treated with love and respect. In 2014 when you can go to the mall or pretty much anywhere and see teens smoking, cussing, bullying, etc., I am proud to say that my children are respectful, love The Lord, are well above average academically, and make me proud everyday with their desire to serve others and do the right thing. I honestly believe my children would not be the kids they are today had they not attended this school. Grace certainly deserves some of the credit for all of it. One of the things I think is lacking is parent support; the same group of parents can be seeing volunteering over and over. Parents should volunteer.

Presently my son is in the 11th grade and has attended Grace Christian Academy for the past two years. I have nothing but praise for the faculty and administrative staff. Attending Grace has brought the best out of his personality. He is more confident, he has a good relationship with his teachers and he has maintained between a 3.8 - 4.0 GPA. I plan to keep him there until graduation. If you are looking for a good school to send your child, I would highly recommend this one. No school public or private is perfect. You will always find certain areas where improvement can be made. Overall I feel that the pros outweigh the cons. Thus far I have been very pleased with what they offer academically and the basic environment that he is being educated in. I have read previous posted reviews about gossip among the teachers but I have not witnessed this. The teachers have been warm, friendly and very professional. I believe that the Lord lead us here and that he will continue to be with us as we continue on. Be lead of the Lord in your decisions for the choices that you make as to where to education your children.

Grace was not the best school for my child, he was enrolled from Pre-k to 10th grade before I took him out. His elementary school years he was fine, but his High School career was abominable to say the least. It was never any students he had problems with, but rather the extreme favoritism the school showed. Teachers always gossiped and often ignored him entirely. At one point he had offered an idea to a few kids for battle of the classes and brought it forward, throughout the entire process he was ignored and then reprimanded for not helping out. At one point he was given a lecture for not donating his money to a charity, consequently he was unable to because that was in fact, his lunch money. He'd often come home complaining on the unfairness of the teachers there and their quite clear favoritism of certain students, especially athletes or staff children. Sports are favored above academics and I am truly disappointed I did not listen to my child's complains earlier.

As a parent who has had children at this school for almost 10 years, I have had the opportunity to experience first hand, all of the academies, from Pre-K to high school. I can attest that the Pre-K and Elementary programs are fantastic. My children did wonderful and excelled through fifth grade. The attitudes of the majority of the elementary teachers are positive and loving providing a solid academic foundation. The secondary level leaves a lot to be desired in terms of academics, favoritism, bullying and an over-focus on fundraisers and sports in lieu of academics. Most of the secondary teachers and administrators lack the certification, degrees or just don't do have the love of children or education necessary to teach effectively. If your child does not naturally excel academically (and doesn t happen to be a star athlete), they will not do well at this school at the secondary level. I couldn't even tell you who the middle or high school principal is at the moment and I have children in both. Do your research before making the decision to send your child the Grace, the cracks are starting to show and I do believe the school is a sinking ship.

Grace has afforded me the opportunity to be a part of their staff for more than 13 years. As with any program, we are not perfect but are striving toward the mark of the high calling of God. Unfortunately, we are still human with the capacity to unintentionally and unknowingly inflict misunderstanding among the staff, students, and parents. As we lose and saturate ourselves in the love of Jesus Christ, we bridge the gap and restoration is restored once again. We actively seek to demonstrate the principles written in Matthew 18 when we have fallen short of the glory of God. I am honored to say I am a teacher at Grace Christian Academy.

I could never recommend this school to anyone. My daughter attended their Pre-K 4 program for approximately 5 months. She would not acclimate herself to the school and therefore, my husband and I decided to look into the matter. Her teacher had written in her progress report that she was an aggressive child. After this was brought to the administrator's attention and the teacher was reprimanded and was told by the administrator that nothing she stated described aggressive behavior and to revise the report. The same day our daughter told us that the teacher had told her to shut up. We requested for her to be transferred to another class and that was denied. We told the administrator if she cannot be transferred then we have no choice but to withdraw her. The administrator stated that although they are a faith based organization they are also a business and we will still be financially obligated in paying the school. We stated if you are a business, we are paying customers and we should be accomodated. This school has placed their profit margin above the development and wellbeing of our daughter. There is so much more to this story and we are so disappointed and totally discussed.

All though this school is very good at teaching about Gods love, some of it staff members do lack the ability to display kindness, they do gossip, lack empathy for parents concerns and desires for their child's future. This is sad because here it is two years later and the comments are the same. No improvement. My child will not attend this school next year.

Grace has provided a great academic and spiritual foundation for our children. We have been pleased with their teachers' balance of grace and discipline. You can tell that the teachers care about their students. The school is striving to add more extra curricular activities and provide a variety of classes. RenWeb allows us to see our children's grades as any time and to easily communicate with the school. We highly reccommend Grace!

I been reading reviews on Grace and I must say the negative ones are suspect. When you send your children to a private school there are rules and regulatiosn that are not present in public school. My kids have attended Grace 5 yrs now and have progressed academically and socially. Now no school is perfect and as parents we need to be involved in every aspect of our kids life. To be honest we brought our kids from a much more strict and expensive envirnoment of Brown Aacademy and we did not get any of the additional attention we are getting from Grace. The Renweb alearts keeps us posted on our kids daily progress and I love that feature. We are very Happy with Grace.

We were excited when we first enrolled our children at Grace, but soon realized that there are major problems. Particular, Christian is just the name on the building. At games I witnessed teachers gossiping about other teachers and parents. I guess they were too busy gossiping to realize that people sitting nearby could hear the conversation. It is so sad, coming from a suppose to be Christian school. In addition, The Admin leaders and many of the staff are vey unfriendly and never speak-- what s wrong with saying, Hello. I guess this is their way of showing Christian conduct. And just think, they are responsible for providing guidance to the children on Christian conduct. Really? The staff does not project Godly behavior themselves, so how can they teach that to the children? Another problem is favoritism amongst the children - allowing one child to do what others cannot and this has been brought to the attention of the Administration. The Administrators also participates in this favoritism. It s sad. Favoritism is given to the staff s children. Christian is just the name on the building. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Grace do not have a Godly atmosphere.
