NAPS is such a special place! The faculty is caring and loving. It is clear that the teachers love what they do. There is a wonderful feel to the school the moment you walk in the door. There is a joy that is palpable! The academics are strong and the children take music, PE, French, library, art, and mindfulness along with a STEAM class. Kindness is the culture at NAPS. There is now a middle school complete with extracurricular sports and activities.

All of our kids attend NAPS for many years, starting at Pre-K. NAPS is the perfect situation for a parent that works at the US Naval Academy. The class sizes are small, and many classes also have an aide. Students have lots of individual attention from the teachers. Students have a variety of extra teachers called "specials" including PE, art, mindfulness, French, library and others. Students wear uniforms that you can buy on Lands End. NAPS class schedule matches US Naval Academy for vacations, holidays, and snow days. Students have many field trips, and the most field trips are in the 5th grade. NAPS recently started a middle school up to the 8th grade. Middle school is in the renovated basement of the building. Middle school offers interscholastic sports in cross country, soccer, basketball and tennis and competes against other private schools in the area.

Our daughter just finished Kindergarten at NAPS and had the most extraordinary experience. She started the year reading a word or two and is now reading books on her own. She has also developed a real love of Math. Most importantly, she learned how to be a good friend to her classmates. Her teacher was excellent, a great educator and a great friend and role-model for the class. NAPS is such a special place! It has the most wonderful and supportive feel and the kids really love being there, our daughter included. Shes excited to start first grade next and were so happy we decided to send her to this wonderful school.

NAPS is an absolute treasure of a school! My children are thriving under the leadership of the caring and dedicated teacher and staff. This was a crazy COVID year- and the staff worked their tails off to ensure we would remain open for in-person learning all year- and they did so with flying colors. Im so proud of this school and am grateful my kids still have many more years there. The wait list is long for a reason- because this school is wonderful!!

This past school year was difficult for schools locally, nationwide and across the world. The NAPS leadership navigated this challenge with grace and always kept student's needs first. Administering during the COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely tough for many educators, students and families everywhere. Leading through this period may not always yield popular decisions, however remaining steadfast, mission oriented with a safety well-being mindset is a strength of the leadership, staff and students at NAPS.

My children have been at NAPS for the last two years. We are very sad to be moving as we feel NAPS is an incredibly special hidden gem of a school!
We have experienced both a "normal" year and a covid year. Both were wonderful in different ways... Pre-Covid there was a fantastic before and after care program! There were optional enrichment students could participate in after school (my son's favorite was science club!) There were a plethora of specials and support for all students and families. When school shut down after spring break teachers spent their entire weekend at school and had packets ready to be picked up for distance learning that very Sunday - they didn't miss a beat!
This past year - in order to remain in person - things had to change... But they started in person August of 2020 and did not shut the entire school down ONCE all year!!!! Ms Green and the teachers and staff knew the value of in person education for the academic and social growth of students and moved mountains to make it happen! They hired extra teachers to reduce class sizes; they removed before and after care to maintain safety 'bubbles'; they erected tents to hold specials outside to avoid cross contamination ; they installed hand washing stations with running water at each entrance to the school.
Things looked different than the "normal" NAPS experience this year because they HAD to in order to remain open. But my kids benefited 10 fold! They got to play with their peers, learn to read, see their teachers and participate in person! They had full and meaningful days of learning all year long!
We don't have enough positive words to describe how we feel about this sweet little school and how grateful we are to everyone that moved heaven and earth to make this past year happen!

Our family has been a part of the NAPS community since 2016, and we have loved every second of it. Our two children have excelled academically and socially, and they've also created strong relationships with students and staff. Each year the school takes steps to improve the learning environment. They are constantly looking at ways to make the school more inclusive and challenging for our students.

Director Green led an amazing effort to get our students through an entire in-person school year with little to no hiccups. While students across the area struggled through a tough year, we saw our children have continued growth. They absolutely loved this school year, even with all of the COVID protocols.

The staff is amazing. They truly care about the well-being of each of the students. They focus on their academic success, their mental wellness, and their physical health. Each year, we have had great relationships and communication with everyone that came in contact with our children. Our children love the Specials offerings as well. They have given our children some awesome outlets outside of the traditional academic courses.

I am an African-American Baltimore-area private school product, so I am well aware of the challenges students of color face in these environments. NAPS has been nothing less than a safe space for our children, which I know has allowed them to flourish.

Although we loved NAPS when we first arrived, Director Robyn Green and the Admin Team have pushed this school to new heights, and we are excited to be a part of the continued growth. I would highly recommend NAPS to anyone in the area. It is truly a special place.

Working for NAPS has been the highlight of my professional career so far. The community is supportive and encouraging, centered around the shared goal of developing young minds and hearts with a love of learning. NAPS encourages good citizenship, kindness, and mindfulness, and it has been a joy to see our students grow and thrive. The last year has shined a spotlight on how dedicated our crew is to our school community. We opened during a global pandemic, and stayed open for the full school year. Director Green set the standard for prioritizing the health and safety of our students and staff, and the teachers have been amazingly supportive of new procedures and protocols. It has not been without challenges and sacrifices, but the team atmosphere and committed, supportive attitudes made a difficult year rewarding and fun. Do not let any recent bad reviews fool you. Staff morale has never been higher. Feedback from parents and the joy shown on our students' faces brought tears to our eyes as the final carpool pick-up ended. Through the unease of an historic year, this school has been a beacon of hope and support. Looking forward to another great school year ahead with Director Green and the returning staff.

After having been at NAPS for 12 years, four kids, pre-k through 5th grade, I can vouch for the exceptional education both scholastically and emotionally that my children have received. The board and Executive directors at NAPS are dedicated to creating an environment where children thrive and their well being and development are paramount. The dedication of the administrative staff and teachers of this school is what makes it great. We have seen great teachers come and go based on life circumstances, but what continues on at NAPS is a culture of excellence and inclusion.

We love naps! We are so glad we made the switch to naps. Our kids come home every day happy and really like their teachers. The small classes have allowed us to build relationships with the teachers. The teachers and administration at NAPS did not shy away from the challenge presented by the pandemic. They rallied for Fall 2020 after a Spring shutdown and persevered to provide high-quality in-person education for pre-K through 5th grade. The COVID prevention practices were sound, consistent, and effective. The school remained open the entire academic year. They even did their best to maintain the NAPS traditions we'd become accustom to with our two previous children: Santa Claus, Blue & Gold (field) Day, Christmas Pageant, and the spring auction fund raiser. Our child thrived in kindergarten, grew socially, learned to be brave in the face of pandemic adversity, and grew in reading development and math reasoning. The in-person experience this year at NAPS exceeded our expectations. Furthermore, the brave teachers, who stepped up to provide in-person education despite the personal risk they faced as front-line workers, enabled the military and federal employee parents to carry out their mission knowing their children were well cared for during the day.

I am SO thankful for NAPS. My little one has had the BEST year. I had older kids that went to NAPS a decade ago - we loved it then and we love it EVEN more now. My child has learned so much despite all the challenges of COVID. She comes home delighted and happy every day full of new skills shes learned and experiences to share. Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common goal. A great leader embraces change and recognizes the potential in others to accomplish greatness. I just wanted to express my gratitude to all the wonderful teachers and to those in the administration at NAPS for all they did for all of our children and their friends this year at NAPS.

This year was unlike no other. After a half year in lockdown and all that brought we had some trepidation for coming into this school year. From the first week we could see that the administration had gone to great lengths to ensure our childrens safety while preserving the excellence in education and the caring environment. We know it wasnt easy at all while the majority of schools were closed around the country NAPS was open. Our children were happy and they were allowed to maintain some normalcy and consistency in their lives.

We know this took hours of planning and then reexamination all year as federal and state regulations changed. The important thing for us our children felt safe, loved, cared for, their teachers maintained a sense of calm when I know some days must have been very hard to come to school given what was going on in our country and the world.

Thank you again for maintaining the high level of education and preserving the joy in learning and nurturing the values of kindness and honor that NAPS stands for. Im so very grateful for NAPS. Thank you again to the teachers, to the administration and to Mrs. Green for your extraordinary leadership in this very unprecedented trying and difficult time. You are truly amazing and we are grateful for you.

We came to NAPS years ago and was impressed with the beautiful setting, great reputation within the community, and beloved teachers. There has been a drastic change with the new Director. This used to be a loving and caring environment for children and families. It has now become a glorified daycare. The Director treats staff poorly and this is evident through the immense turnover rate. The Director tries to control the narrative, but we now know that she forces amazing teachers out and then lies to the staff and community. It is awful! We are so glad to leave this school before it is totally unrecognizable. They dont care even a little about parent concerns, but instead rely on some waitlist that seems to be dwindling by the day. Lots of families are leaving this year due to this new leadership. Thankfully, we are too!

Im so glad for this year to end! Though Im grateful that this school provided 5 day a week in person learning, the year has ended on a low note. Green and The Board are unaccountable and if you arent team Green then you get let go. We have now witnessed and experienced her not bringing back fantastic, loved teachers for what appears to be her thirst for complete control. Its unacceptable and has us exploring other options for this upcoming year.

I could not be prouder to work at this school right now. This year has challenged everything we know about education, and NAPS has risen to the occasion to provide an excellent educational experience, despite the circumstances. Robyn Green, the Director, has been open and transparent with teachers and parents about how we have been moving forward to meet the needs of students. This includes providing French classes, library lessons and book checkout, PE classes, and Mindfulness classes to help students manage stress they experience from the pandemic. These specials also provide opportunities for teachers to take time away from the classroom to prepare and take a breath. We have also continued to provide resource services to students who need them. Teachers also have opportunities to use outdoor classroom spaces, and one teacher who saw a need for Art in the classroom, designed, planned, and provided Art lessons that teachers could use while Art classes were not yet an option. Everyone is working together to make this year a success. We work hard, but we laugh and enjoy every day we are in the building with the kids. Most schools cannot say they have been in-person successfully for almost the entirety of the school year! Special thanks to Nurse Niki for advising and keeping us healthy. We have not been able to solve every problem. But we have learned how to provide instruction to students who must quarantine. We have learned how organize classrooms with social-distancing. We have learned how to communicate with each other in creative often remote- ways. We have had moments of frustration. Not everyone has been happy in every moment. However, not only have we made this year successful, but we are moving forward to make next year even better. Despite this years challenges, there are plans in place for renewed curriculum, professional development, additional specials offerings and new, creative faculty members to join our team. Robyn has been the key factor in holding everything together and moving forward at the same time. Challenge and growth are important in any school setting, any school year. This year we were tasked with both in ways we never expected and I know we have done it very well!

It's troubling to me as a NAPS parent to see the recent negative reviews. I think the teachers and staff have been working so hard to provide a safe in-person learning environment for the students. My family completely understands that some programs needed to temporarily suspended due to COVID and we have faith in the school that they will continue to do what they can to provide the best possible education to our children, while keeping them safe.

When the school came up with their plan for the current school year, we didn't think it would work and that the school would be forced to quarantine before the end of the year. The fact that they have made it the entire year without having to quarantine the whole school has been an amazing achievement. While I wish things could have been the same as years past, I think the results the school has achieved show that thought and care went into their plan for how to tackle the situation they were face with.

Our family has loved our time at NAPS and can't recommend the school strongly enough to others!

Reconsider before you accept a job at this school or enroll your ids. This school treats its employees terribly, which is why they have huge turnover. Staff get one 25 minute break a day and are in the classroom all day with students due to a lack of specials. On rainy days, students are stuck in the small rooms for seven hours without being allowed outside. They do not offer music, art, science, technology and have a very limited PE program that consists of a dusty field, no equipment, and no indoor gym. Students have gym in a small tent outside. This school is not good and should probably be reported to the Academy.

Our kids go to NAPS and we have loved the school in the past. New leadership has made this school very difficult. The students are in person learning, which is wonderful, but the school has removed music, art, technology, stem from its curriculum. Some days, these students are in their classrooms all day, without a break. Classroom teachers are in their rooms all day, many with only a short 25 minute break. My daughter complains of her legs hurting from being confined to a desk all day. We are ready to say goodbye to this school and its disheartening leadership.

We have a child who attends this school. The school went through a change in leadership, and ever since, we have been concerned about how much educator turnover there is. The Assistant Director left, so many teachers, and other staff members. The new leadership has created a culture that doesn't allow for feedback or growth. We have been so disappointed in the way teaching staff have been treated during the past three years. This school used to be such a sweet and loving place. Now, Director Green has changed the mission of the school and it has not been good for staff nor students. We will not be returning next year.

I'm a long time member of the NAPS parent community, and comparatively, there is nothing quite like it. Kindness, empathy, and integrity are instilled in students at a very young age, and these values are woven into every day, along with strong academics. Not only are children learning how to be good students, they are learning how to be good citizens. I'm grateful that my children have been able to attend NAPS.

It's an exciting time to be at NAPS. Director Green is ambitious, seasoned, dynamic, warm and an exceptional communicator. The school has so much positive energy as reflected by the caring, experienced and innovative teachers. NAPS is extremely welcoming to new families and has a sharp and perceptive Admissions Director. The school emphasizes service to country and others, and this has a wonderful trickle down effect within the school community. Director Green is setting goals of renewed academic rigor and is a gifted motivator. The Board of Trustees has depth and integrity. The extended care is top notch and the setting and facilities are in top shape. Horrible experience. My son was bullied significantly, and got no assistance from teachers or staff. I had to take a fellow Mom to court and issue a cease and desist to have her stop spreading rumors and harassing myself and my 5 year old son.

Amazing, family oriented school! All of my children have thrived at Naps... both under the previous director, Mrs. Clous, and now the new director, Mrs. Green. All of the staff members are compassionate and know every child's name, the classrooms are small in size, therefore allowing more individual teaching, and the school has a wonderful sense of family. By all means, come check out Naps! You will love it!

This is our first year at NAPS, my son in 3rd grade and my daughter in 2nd.

We came from the best public schools in Michigan, East Grand Rapids Public Schools.

I can tell you that NAPS has exceeded our expectations. The curriculum is strong, the class sizes are small, and the teachers and school leadership are the best .
Tuition is reasonably priced.
NAPS doesn't have so many half days or weather-related school closures. The school follows the Naval Academy academic schedule and therefore has a different schedule than the public school system.
They have a before and after care, winter break programs and enrichment programs like Stock Market Club, Chess, Soccer, Coding, Yoga etc.
Summer camps are also available. This is great for families that have kids in other school ending schedule.

Great community!!

My son has been at NAPS since kindergarten, and he is currently in one of the upper grades. We just love this school. At NAPS, my son is receiving a quality education, but the tuition is extremely reasonably priced. His classes are the optimal size for learning. For instance, there are only fifteen children in my son's class this year including him. The new principal Robyn Green is amazing. She is charming and engaging, and I'm so glad that they hired her for the position. Mrs. Green has made a lot of positive changes to the school since her arrival. As both a NAPS parent and the principal, she genuinely cares about the students and their families. She even requests feedback from parents via online questionnaires. All of the teachers are excellent educators, and they are very responsive to parental concerns. My son is a high flyer, but this school really works with children who struggle academically to assist them in becoming better learners. As a parent and an educator, I can't say enough good things about this school.

Both my kids went to NAPS, it was a pretty good fit. My daughter is now a HS senior heading to college fall of 2017. She has done very well through a demanding private MS and prep HS, getting almost all A's and very high SATs and ACTs (has merit money offers from colleges now). My son is 2 years behind doing similarly well. This is a large part due to good foundation at NAPS. Classes are small with lots of individual attention, and parent assistance.
I would echo some comments that certified teachers would be a plus. Also, when my kids were there, the school was a bit lacking proficiency in science and math. My kids came out with very good arithmetic skills, but had the smarts to go further before MS. As a research engineer, I helped my kids offline with that so they still excelled. But the school could do a bit more in accelerated science and math. So I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall, it's a good place, and great value.

My 3 children have attended NAPS for the past 7 years. The school is nurturing, structured, staffed with a dedicated team of educators, and on beautiful grounds. In addition, the tuition for our 3 children amounts to one tuition at other area independent schools. We have been so pleased with so many aspects of the program, but we've recently been impressed with new innovations and adaptations such as the I-Pad program, green school initiative, and addition of an outdoor learning center. I challenge anyone to find a better value in the Annapolis area!

NAPS is a top-notch school. The faculty has a depth of experience, unparalleled judgment and intuition, and they all have a remarkable enthusiasm for teaching. We love the academic caliber and unique understanding of public service which are hallmarks of the school. If you desire your child to be a future respectful, engaged citizen and leader who has learned to be thoughtful and articulate, then NAPS is your school of choice. We also appreciate the talented parent base, many of whom have leadership positions in the military, teach at USNA, or are analysts or scientists. The school is extremely adept at welcoming new students and families and has a close sense of community. Parental involvement is welcome and encouraged. We are grateful to be a part of this exceptional gem of an institution and are continually impressed with the academic approach and emphasis on citizenship.

The school claims they have addition resources for students who need extra help, however, they don't have enough to support the number of students. They tested my child without discussing with me first (which is their normal procedure in talking with other parents and the school) and when I had their test evaluated by an independent PHD, I was told immediately the test was administered wrong and my child was exactly where he should be according to his grade.
Almost NO positive feedback but are quick to discuss any bad days.
The most concerning was hearing from multiple parents as well as witnessing for myself, they push "learning styles" (ADD and ADHD) and the medicines that accommodate it. Over 1/2 of an entire grade was on ADD/ADHD medicine. This is extremely disturbing and I pulled my child out. He is excelling in his new school. Hummmm
Excellent PreK nurturing environment but rarely will you find new teachers or staff that is not connected to the Director in some way (family friend).
School is good for some but not everybody!

As a military family, we have been in a variety of schools. NAPS is certainly top of our list. The school has a challenging academic program and a caring environment. My children are extremely happy there and have made many friends. They are supported by their teachers and overall have a great sense of confidence. I was concerned by the comment that NAPS is not accredited but checked with the principal and found that is untrue. NAPS is fully accredited. I would highly recommend this school. The price tag is fabulous when you compare the other private schools.

I can gauge how effective the teachers are by how much my son learned over the course of the school year. He loves school and he constantly shows us what he is learning. My husband and I were both impressed. I should note that our son is bright and he would do well at any school.

NAPS is a nurturing and positive learning environment. Our 3 children have thrived there over the last 6 years. Small classes, caring faculty, overall strong academics, organized systems, wonderful grounds, and a nice community of parents are pros. Cons include limited enrichment in math programs for students who excel in this subject, no instrumental music in curriculum, use of TV watching during indoor recess/aftercare/transition times, and lack of ethnic diversity. Overall, we have been extremely happy at this school and highly recommend it when we have the chance.

This is a great little school. My children are in lower elementary (K and 1) and we could not be happier with their social and academic progress. In fact, we are moving to another state soon and we are having a hard time finding anything even remotely comparable in the same price range. We love that the classes are small (12-18 in K-2, even smaller in grades 3-5), 2 classes per grade, and uniforms in addition to an excellent music program, art and Spanish in addition to after school activities. It is an older building and they are bursting at the seams, but the administration is doing a great job keeping the building in good condition. We will be very sad to leave and I have heard that the curriculum is a full year ahead of the public schools on the West Coast and quite a bit ahead of Anne Arundel County Schools as well.

My son is in kindergarten and this is our first year. Overall, this is a wonderful & nurturing little school with a caring staff & a small teacher:student ratio. It's also one of the most affordable schools in Annapolis. PROS: Very small classes mean that your kid gets a lot of attention; multiple recesses so the kids are moving around a lot (great for restless boys, especially); good communication between staff and parents; lots of chances for parents to get involved. I disagree with the reviews that said there are no after-school activities--there are many available, but you have to pay more. Before- & after-care are also available. They have mandatory music (chorus), French, and P.E. classes (P.E. teachers are wonderful!) CONS: a lack of ethnic diversity (probably the blondest school I have ever encountered!); curb-side drop-off/pick-up makes it harder to meet other parents (hopefully you have a good room parent who organizes events); French is the only language currently available (they have plans to change this in coming years; supposed to be a secular school, but the kids say grace before meals & participate in a Christian Christmas pageant. Wonderful school, overall!

I can't even begin to express how wonderful this school is to our family! The faculty and staff are the most nurturing and loving people to all the children! The only downside is it ends at fifth grade!
