This is the second year for my child at this school, and will be the last. The school main objective doesn’t move me as a school that wants the children to pursue successful goals or ambitions far as learning. As I stated previously the homework is nothing more than the same every week, I honestly feel that this school is in need of a drastic change. The statistics clearly shows elementary schools in the radius of less than 4miles doing drastically better. I understand it’s on the parents as much as it’s on the teachers so I’m not condemning the teachers. I’m just unpleased with the fact this school is rated 2/10 and could be doing so much better.

Obviously teachers at this school appear to be more concerned about discipline than teaching.

There isn’t a sign of leadership that I’ve witnessed, meager area which results in affordable teachers who may try but are unsuccessful.

Not all teachers give homework for the 7th graders. I believe they should have homework everyday to help retain what they have learned in school.

My sons teachers have gone above and beyond this year to help him succeed. He was not doing well but they have stayed on top of him every step of the way and he is ending the school year doing great!

Teachers in the 7th grade are awesome!! The rest are way below average!

We have yet to receive a written copy of my grandson's IEP, and services have not been implemented. We don't have a copy of his behavioral chart, although that was to be provided so we could on the same page as the school. So basically I fear he will be socially promoted, which does him no good.

For a first grade student way too much is given.

classes are overcrowded and for a disabled student, it is not effective at all, especially one with adhd and some other disorders.

Not when the middle school and 5th grade students run through school grounds at dismissal without regard to small children (not yet school age) and they also do that in the school.

Have a new principal this year that seems to care and is trying to do good things. Middle schoolers still out of control somewhat but it seems to be getting better

Has a nephew enrolled who has ADHD and a current IEP the school has not followed his IEP for the past 3 years. The school is over crowded and has no idea how to help with bullied students. No actions have been taken to help with children falling behind, in fact I was told several times they will not fail him it's bad for numbers. Any actions plans fail!

My family have sent 4 children there. It was a good school but it is lost now. I have decided to homeschool my son because of the treatment of this school and his teacher. I pray that organization and priorities get put back in place for this school. This school need help the children left there will need help as well.

Very ineffective at teaching but very effective in displine. I asked my sons teacher for more challenging work and got no response. But she could take it upon herself to displine my child. She need to know her place.

My son is in the first grade and the sight words he was given is the same sight words from pre-k thru kindergarten.

my daughter is in 1st grade and her teacher ms.g is awesome.she always texts me back when I have a question.she is always up beat.her students love her.she will be missed by my child and I when the school year is over.i wish my child could have her next year for 2nd grade.i am pleased to have my child going to Curtis bay.i had a child that went to bay brook and let's just say he never liked it there but only for his 4th and 5th grade year.i feel that the school has tried the best they can.they've made mistakes but no 1 school is perfect.they can only improve in my opinion.i've had very few problems with Curtis Bay.ask yourself what school doesn't have it's querks.as long as they can learn from it then it's all good.i'm happy to be a parent that child attends Curtis Bay Elementary School

I have an autistic 5th grader currently enrolled in this school. When we moved here three years ago, I originally had misgivings about enrolling him here--his last school (Maree Farring, #203) had recommended institutionalizing him, and I expected the same from CBEMS. Three years after starting there, he is now reading at his grade level, and doing grade level math at 75% accuracy, his teacher Ms. Amberger writes 'a joy to teach' on his progress reports and has strenuously objected to his prior classification at his previous school as a candidate for institutionalization. Although I no longer work in the area, I have elected to deal with a 2 hour commute to work rather than relocate and remove my son from this school.

I attended this school, and all three of my children attended this school as well. The school is in need of renovation and repairs. However the staff is amazing, minus the principal, I would send my nieces and nephews to this school. The new principal is not good at talking to parents. I have been disrespected by her for standing up for a child that was not mine. I think you would want you parents to be happy because we have the voice to make things happen from North Ave.

One question on a complaint form is . Can your child defend themselves LMFAO is this a school or a penitentiary ? Before your kid goes to Curtis Bay send them to self defense class. F%$#%g joke

Great with the children; the teachers are truly motiveted to help the students reach their full potential. My gr'daughter's teacher has even called her at home since she has missed days from her GI condition. They have a neat gymnastics team that has really improved over the years. Students are encouraged in sports as well as arts and activities despite all the budget cuts.

overall i have to give this school two thumbs up my kids have been attenting this school since head start i do believe that thw teachers should challenge the smarter kids to harder work but as a parent if i see my child excel at a faster pace I challenge them at home but i would like to see a program there for gifted students or advanced students ....ms avery (the principal) is amazing she always addresses any issues that we (the parents) or the children has iv'e had a few problems im not saying that they are perfect but ill just say that my kids attended one other city school for about 2 weeks and i snatched them out so quick because i would have been taking them back an entire grade if i would have left them there so overall i love the school for it to be a city public school i think that they do A OK
