Since Mr. Laird left, the Climate has deteriorated to the point where it’s unsafe. 7 major fights in the first 10 days?? Crazy!! I’m withdrawing my students immediately. Bring Laird. Back to get control of these kids! It’s NOT SAFE!!

As a parent of a Senior (Class of 2024) I have observed this school spiral downward since the 2021-2022 school year. During 2021-2022 my son was very engaged and the school communicated with me frequently about his academic progress. I heard from teachers on a weekly basis and I got numerous forms of communication from the principal, Ms. Swinton-Buck, who was at the door greeting students and parents every day. Since her departure the school has gone downhill! I heard that Principal Swinton was leaving but I never got ANY information on who her replacement was. Even after the new principal was named (Ms. Mavis Jackson) , she never sent out an introduction letter, welcome back to school letter or any kind of communication about her vision for the school or my son. We get occasional robo-calls, but the level of engagement and energy just isn't there since Ms. Jackson became principal. According to my son, there were WAY more fights & weapons brought into the building. The hall monitors don't even search the bags anymore, and last year a student brought a gun into the building and the SWAT team had to be called in to secure the building! While all of this was happening, my son was calling me and I was calling the school and no one answered for 2 hours! My son told me that most of the old administrators (Assistant principals, Deans, Counselors, etc.) opted to leave at the end of the year because of the new principal. So now, even with how bad it was last year, I think it's going to be worse next year because of the high staff turnover. If my son wasn't a senior I'd snatch him out of there, but he insists he wants to stay and he's on track to graduate. My daughter is in 8th grade and she will definitely NOT be attending Digital Harbor next year.

This School has no structure and did not prepare me as a student to go to college. The teachers do not care and will pass you just so they look good.

Teachers, staff and administration are very supportive. The students body is very diverse. The school has great communication with phone calls home at least 3 times per week. The School is located in Federal Hill, a very nice area. My son and daughter both play sports here and they feel very safe going to a from school.

This school alone with every other Baltimore City School are not recommended by me at all. My son went Violetville Elementary school and got bullied there, then he went to Digital Harbor and got bullied there. They do nothing at all about bullying. My son would fight back these bully's and he would be the one getting in trouble. He (my son) was a drop out. He did get his High School Diploma by attending CCBC. His mental state is screwed, thanks to Baltimore City Schools.. Including Baltimore City board of education for doing nothing to resolve this issue. He believes that he can not achieve anything in life, he don't have any ambition to seek job opportunities. On some days he just don't do anything. That's not what they mean by "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND". Mine was left behind is that because he was WHITE
