The school and BOE have drastically declined. The teachers are good but management had not terrible. The PTA leadership during 2024 /25 is horrible.

We love Matapeake and their stuff, everyone has been great and are always trying to improve. They are super kind with the kids and parents. They deserve all the best for taking so much care of our kids. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

The school has really gone downhill. They no longer do extra curricular activities for the students. They do not follow established rules for special education students and cover up their wrong doing. They are more concerned with saving a buck and as long as the test scores are good who cares if the students are actually learning anything. We moved here just so our kids could go to a good school. We've been extremely let down. The special education program is better in PG County.

I feel that the teachers are not being allowed to teach. It's like watching a real life Dead Poets Society. Kids should want to learn and be taught that it can be fun! This practice isn't encouraged here.

The school does seem to attempt at meeting this goal. However, the schools concern for being "PC" has taken over any actual fairness when it comes to behavioral awards.

We moved here so that our kids could attend MES. Sadly in the last few years the school has taken a nose dive. No schools plays, Holiday pageants, no ceremony for 9/11 (nor was the flag even at half mast) all of the fun and creative things little kids should be doing have been phased out. It's very sad. They study to take tests and test. The teachers seem oppressed and the overall quality has gotten very bad. We don't even have honor roll anymore! Which makes me wonder what they're working so hard for!!!! Sadly, we're looking into private school options at this point and I'm one even close to being the only parent that feels this way.

This school is fantastic! It is very well organized and student's academics and safety are always a focus. Most teachers are friendly and care about the students in their class. The administration works diligently to get to know each child on a personal level. MES has a supportive community and PTA that provide extra resources for the students.
