This place is the worst school I’ve been in in 2024 when I went there they have bad teachers and the science teacher swore at the class and There were also 4 fights we had it’s horrible and they brag about how they have a five star school and one of my friends got in trouble for no reason the only thing I liked is PE class they have a nice and really cool teacher and that’s it and so as the social studies teacher she was cool to and so as the English teacher the best out of them all

This school is a HORRENDOUS PLACE. this place is so broke that my child had to go to the bathroom in the dark because the school couldn't pay for the electricity bill, and my child whose in Pre-K came home crying saying that his teacher yelled at him. another one of my children has autism and they put him in detention instead of asking what happened.this school is HORRIBLE and what they do is ATROCIOUS! I will be pulling my children out as soon as the school year ends!

In my opinion this is the worst school in the state of Maryland. This school has NO MONEY whatsoever and they spend their money on useless things that are not helpful to students learning. For one instead of actually paying for the electrical bills they bought a Massage Chair for the teachers lounge. This school should be shut down immediately. They do not care for kids safety and the only reason they would is because they don't want to get sued.

This school offers great programs. A few lockdowns / holds last year due to fights, additionally power went out last year as well. Overall though, it's a good school. Teachers are really kind and understanding, and the principal is kind to students.

Staff members may seem a little rough, but it works to get students to behave right.

4/5 stars, would recommend if you're looking for a school that teaches STEM in a safe way besides from the holds (which were the students, not the staff's fault.)

In 2025 and 2024 the school behaviour is getting very bad due to constant fights for the middle school portion and couple of lockdowns happend one particulary at field day and teachers arent supprotive enough and its getting worse behaviour wise and high school is better than middle school but on and of but middle scholl is outragoues middle school here is not good high school is recommended middle school is 5/10 overall high school is 7 also in map scores tets scores are decreasing now and the school is no longer that good in tests for sports it could do a little better and alsp rumors have spread about somone vaping in the bathrooms

There was a big fight at this school and usually locked down because of fights and the teachers are rude I would give it a 6 offers decent programs but the middle school has lots of problems and fights and test scores are going down they should be 6 so 6 out of 10

I am very pleased with this school. My son is excelling and feels safe at the school.

The teachers and counselors care about my son. The principal is approachable and very helpful. The school is clean and inviting.

Chesapeake Science Point is a great school that places high emphasize on preparing students for college, emphasize on STEM education experiences for students, promoting student accountability, and students wear uniforms so clothes are less of a distraction, provide time for students to engage in activities/clubs and time for students to meet one on one with teachers if the student is having difficulty in learning.

I'm currently a student at this school and let me get this out of the way, the teachers allow racism, colorism, inappropriate jokes/comments(sex or slavery-related), and bullying. The school is extremely tiny and the middle school hall is always crowded but the high school hall is fine. Students have sex in the bathrooms and students often skip their club. Students yell/scream at teachers, refuse to listen, run around in class, etc... A girl slammed someone else's phone onto the ground and she was sent back to class. Teachers (at least most) don't care about students. They rarely put in some grades or update the power school when they do so then we students get in trouble with our parents for a grade that's wrong! The new biology teacher called people in my class stupid before and she takes our notes to grade so it's not like we can study unless we go into the slides! Students always make jokes/comments about slavery which is annoying and disrespectful considering how horrible it was. The teachers NEVER report these comments they only report when one of the students say the n-word... Also a student always make racist statements and even made a middle schooler cry and this other student who is white said the n-word and no repercussions... I would tell the teacher that he did that however I wasn't present when it happened I only saw the video... The food is awful; we used to have ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, etc back in 7th grade before the pandemic but now there are no condiments anymore except for some nasty watery ranch. The quality of the food has gone down too, like I found a big purple spot in my chicken sandwich, spoiled tomato sauce, and a seed in my pizza. There's only 2 lunch lady's now. Also, if you don't have dumb branded shoes, you'll get made fun of. If you don't have an iPhone, you'll get made fun of. If your parent is on the board, you will never get expelled or reprimanded. Students don't report these comments because you'll be bullied and called a snitch. School morale is at an all-time low no one cares for it we only care about passing... The only good thing about the school is some people. The people is the only reason students usually stay so they can stick with their friends. Forgot to mention this but we're bombarded with homework and expected to have it complete the next day.

Administration doesn't really want parents to be involved. I grew up during a time when the parents and teachers worked together to mold the child; however at this school it is only their desire to discipline your child as they see fit and notify you afterwards. When you question what is going on, your responses go ignored. How can a parent know how to address a matter at home, if the teacher won't help one to understand what behavior is going on in the school. They issue these negative "tiger" points that can add up to a detention and you'll never get an email or phone call from certain teachers explaining the incident that lead to the "tiger"points. It's as if they don't get training on how to communicate with the parents or how to modify behavior with students.

I have no issues with the academics at this school at all. Yes, the test scores are great, but that isn't all that matters to this parent. I believe that overall morale needs to be improved among the students and teachers. I believe that the administration should encourage parent and teacher communication.

Academically they are great, but they lack personal skills, communication skills, and could improve their attitude. Inputting incorrect grades has been an issue as well. As a parent be sure to check Parent Connect all the time because no one holds them accountable if they put in wrong grades or say an assignment is missing when it wasn't.

My daughter has attended CSP for two years now. It is allegedly one of the best middle and high schools in the state; however, the school administrators do not have a handle on student behavior. The school is becoming increasingly volatile. I do not find the principals very effective. Many of the staff members have terrible attitudes and often forget to update grade books and improperly account for assignments. The teachers are very unorganized this year. My daughter wants to leave the school. I'm on the fence because I believe they can turn many of these issues around and excel academically. I'm just not convinced the staff cares enough to make the changes.

Terrible staff. Unable to answer ANY phone calls ever! I have called several times in regards to my child's college class being offered here, because the school did not pay the class fee, and he was dropped from the class as a result. Unorganized, and rude staff. The vice principal has the absolute worst attitude.
I am not re-enrolling my child here and recommend all parents to choose a better, more organized school.

For an academic school this school excels without question, but it needs more programs. For example it needs a music program. All in all the school is a great school with great teacher/student relationship. Plus it challenges the student and makes them to do better.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But if you like to consider facts just take a look at standardized test results. Since the beginning CSP has consistently scored higher than 95% proficiency in math and reading and well above Anne Arundel County averages. For the parents that complained about the school focus centered only on the brightest students, how can 95 % of the students be proficient or advanced if only a small fraction receives all the resources?

This school has gotten much better than when it first started I am a freshman and have been going to CSP since the sixth grade. The education is great and you can learn a lot if you apply yourself. The education is also very advanced with many extracurricular classes. One reason many people did not come to this school is because of the sports program, we now have a soccer, track, and basketball team. The basketball team is great, especially since we have a veteran coach who coached at Towson-Catholic, Spalding, and Pilates. Who also coached three NBA players, which includes Rudy Gay, Jarret Jack, and Donte Green. Very growing program. JTA

This school has gotten much better than it first was. I have been a student here for 3 years. this school used to have no gym and a small sports program. Over three years we have gotten a gym and varsity sports teams. This school also has one of the best academic standards in the county. RDK are my initials.

My child is a freshman at CSP. He/She is not a shining star and as such was pushed back to the lower level classes when they needed space for another child. If your child gives them good test scores, you will be courted by the administration. If your child is average ( and be aware, my child has a 3.0 average! Average means something else here), they will easily push them out of the way to make room for higher scoring students. This is a school that had 6th graders taking the PSAT! There are some teachers who will respond to your phone calls, but no luck with administration. They don't want to deal with pesky problems like unhappy parents. This is NOT a magnet school, it is a charter school with a lottery admission. There have a responsibility to ALL students there, they receive the same funding for EVERY student. I do feel disappointed, but I believe they can do better and have seen changes s l o w l y happening over the past few years. Hopefully it will do what Anne Arundel County pays it to do, for ALL students.

My grandson goes to Chesapeake Science Point and I am very satisfied with his progress. The school is designed for students who are interested in science and engineering. The lottery system in Anne Arundel County allows anyone to put their child in the lottery. Those students who are not suited for science and and engineering should not be here. Some parents feel that the school is a better choice than the school in their geographic area and may be unhappy that their child's needs are not being met. That's life. The school is not designed as a refuge from substandard schools in the county, but as a science and engineering "magnet:" school. I think it does a wonderful job in this role.

I attended CSP for high school i transfered in from Macarthur Middle. I hated it so much the electives are basically turkish math and language arts and science. Theres nothing you can get from this school that you couldn't get from a regular school. Unless your super smart in that case your basically a school superhero and get the best treatment. If your child is actually below average DONT send them to the school they put all the bad kids and kids who are beloow average in one class so that holds back your child more. High school is small and does nothing at all .

I am a student at csp and I do not like this school. I've went for 6th and 7th grade and out of all schools I have been to, csp has been the worse. I don't like how strict the dress code is, it doesn't allow anyone to express individuality. i also did not like that the school separates grades into different classes and just like in elementary school. This school doesn't have very good electives or any sports to do. This school may not be good for anyone that is athletic or likes fun school activities to do during school

My child goes to this school. One must remember that Charter Schools are a business, or a source of income, for those who run it. Here's how it works at CSP: For each grade there are about four or five classes. To keep the school's ratings high what they do is give the newly entering 6th graders an exam on the 2nd or 3rd day of the school year and based on that determine which class each kid goes to. The top performers are put to D and E classes and the others in A B and C. All the best teachers, resources and efforts are given to the D and E classes to improve further and keep the schools ratings high. I really feel for the kids in the A, B and C classes. They know why they are in that class and have very low self esteems and I have even heard some kids call themselves the loosers of the school. These children are unfairly judged and treated. This is very wrong. The principal and some of the staff never ever respond to parent's e-mails or concerns. The few parents that managed to talk to the principal were indirectly told to take their children elsewhere if they are not happy with CSP. If I had another choice my child won't go to this school another day.

Formal Sports Program has begun at CSP! The CSP is a relatively new charter school and lets face it, their goal is education which is what anyone should expect from any "school". The CSP is more of a college prep school. My son is now in 10th grade. My daughter had to transfer to her home school because the County did not allow for high school in the past. Sports has not been in the overall mission but is being considered. I went to the parent meeting on 2/26 to meet the Sports Director and Track Coach; I was impressed with their committment. My son is very excited to be on the team. I am happy the school is allowing for a competitive sport. The track schedule does list AACC High Schools the team will compete against. There is huge potential here for sports! I appreciate CSP has kept an open mind about sports for students. My goal for my son is a good education first; having sports in his curriculum, gives him balance. My son will no longer bother me to take him out of the school because he has a sport team at CSP. Great start with a Sports Program at CSP! I gave CSP a "4" in the past because there was no formal sports program; now I will give them a 5 today!

WONDERFUL ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT. This school tests and pushes the children to do the best they can. They offer ample oppurtunity to acheive each students goal. My daughter has attend there for 2 years and I have had no problems, no bullying because she is the smart kid that she had in her private school. I hope this school manages to stay around and help lead Anne Arundel County into the future. Thank You for all the hard work all of you put into the education you give our children!

This school is AWESOME!!! My 6th grader loves school. The staff is wonderful and really is eager to help the students succeed. The classes are challenging but I have always felt my son wasnt challenged enough. The Clubs are a bonus.

I have been to this school many times and the school is no cleaner or dirtier than other public schools. The students do not act like animals at lunch. But if you think they do please remember the students are form the local public schools. What do you think the local public schools are like. As for getting ready at the end of the day, it looks like every other place I have seen. Many students scrabbling for the stuff out of their lockers and running for the bus. I have always been able to check my students grades and if it is not posted e-mail notification has always been an option or one can just go and speak to the teacher. I have seen children getting snacks, handed out by the teachers, before after school clubs. I witnessed no destructive or nasty behavior. Just a bunch of children happy the school day is over and they can now visit. If perfection is what a parent is seeking I might suggest home schooling.

I appreciate that students are grouped according to academic need & ability. The teachers are very involved & really care about the education of the students. The academic contests in which the school excels are sought out by the teachers, The teams that compete are coached by the teachers. There is a real competitive spirit in the school, a pride in winning, in doing your best, & in stretching beyond your comfort zone. People sometimes say 'but my child's passion isn't science & math so I don't know if this is the right school to consider.' I say it is the opportunities that the school provides which have helped to make my daughter passionate about science and math--she didn't start out that way. There are also many other activities & choices for students who are willing to take advantage of them: drama club, art club, robotics club, soccer club, Rubik's cube club, health and fitness club, turkish club, newspaper club, 3D web design club, basketball club, wrestling club, math team, 24 club, green environmental club, & on & on. As with any school, you will get out what you put in - both from the student's perspective as well as the parent's perspective.

My child attends the Laurel school and I agree with you 100%. Parents are very involved, but the "class system" is not a good idea for public school
