What a GREAT SCHOOL! Our daughter started in pre school during covid. They allowed her to participate online then she attended in person for K-5th grade. She has loved all her teachers and has thrived there. It's diverse, inclusive and welcoming. The Principal, Mrs. Conrad has done amazing things for the school and you can see the love she pours into the students and faculty. We're so grateful we were zoned for this school and tell our neighbors with small kids they're in luck!

My daughter has been going to SOES since PreK3 and we have loved every single second of it up until this year. Her first grade teacher has been less than impressive and you can tell this is only a job for her. That she doesn’t actually care about how well her students are doing. We are only two months into the school year and I wish we could transfer to another teacher. The fact that she didn’t even acknowledge my daughter at the trunk or treat event this year was extremely disheartening. I sure do hope this is just a one off year and that next year is much better

My kids have been going to this school for 2 years now and it's the best school in the area. The ratings of 9/10 says it all.

My kids have been at this school for 3 years now and I've never had a problem. The teacher make sure they keep in touch if something happens or if they have concerns. They used to go to school at a Howard county school and we always had problems with them. We love it here.

Behavior issues are really out of hand at this school. I see it at every grade level. Teachers need support in dealing with these disruptive students but administrators do nothing. Same kids day in & day out getting in trouble. Fighting, fowl language, bullying and no real consequences. The students that behave & follow rules end up being neglected. It’s a sad environment when teachers can’t teach for the constant disruptions. Principal is very cold & lacks people skills. Vice Principal is fake and spends more time looking at her phone than interacting with students around her. Staff members are so fed up with lack of support from administrators.

she is assigned hw and it i checked but towards the end of 3rd grade it stopped being checked. The teacher seemed to be over worked as the year progressed.

new school after the rezoning was sad to leave carney. The front desk staff here are cold and unfriendly should not be working in a school will see how the next 2 yrs goes.

Though rated more highly than our previous school, our experience with the grading system, behavior issues and staff complacency at this school has been disappointing. I am glad we only had one year at this school before transitioning to middle school.

The teachers do their best to support students despite having no support from the principal.

The principal is not supportive of the teachers nor of students who don't fit the "white and traditionally smart" mode. She has no regard for anyone's opinion if it does not match hers.

This school does everything it can to get students who learn differently out of their school. The principal has "good" classes of all high achieving students and "bad" classes of students who are not traditional learners.

The teachers care. The principal is simply the "her way or the highway" type. Teachers are very unhappy at this school.

We have two children who have attended this school for the last three years and while the school never does anything "wrong" I feel they get a pass but there are some flaws. This school lacks diversity both in staff and students. It is full of children whose families have been in this area for years and don't accept change very well. They do not like for you to transport your child to school, do not push for parent involvement unless it's for money, and they do not acknowledge Black History Month, Women's History Month, or anything of the sort. The teachers are highly knowledgeable and keep families informed but it is a shame they don't seek to include all children. They don't like for you to have lunch with your child but are quick to ask you to send in money for something.

My son went to this school, and did great socially and academically for the most part. However, my 5 year old went there for kindergarten year, and it was a nightmare. teacher kept telling us there was something wrong with her - socially apparently she was too shy and couldn't make friends fast enough, and academically she was daydreaming a lot. Yes, my daughter is shy, but they never found an approach to her, and yes, she might daydream, but she was 5! My friends son got bullied in this school and the principal never did anything about it. This school is very keen on separating kids who do well academically from the kids who do not, from experience with my son, and my friends kids. My daughter was in the "bad list" from kindergarten, I am sure she would have been placed with "bad" kids for the 1st grade. Classes are over full. They want everyone to ride a bus, and are very unhappy if parents choose to drive their kids. Feels like a prison. We moved in summer, my daughter started a school in a different county - and oh my, what a difference! She bloomed both socially and academically.

Seven Oaks is an amazing school, my daughter will be going to 3rd grade next year and we have been so happy there, her Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher was Mrs. Webber and we loved her, she is very caring and she treats the students as they were her own kids, can't say enough good things about her. The office staff are great and the leadership staff is as amazing and helpful as they can be. We are very fortunate that my daughter goes to this school.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Seven Oaks. My daughter only completed Kindergarten there and a move transferred her to another area school. It's really been to our loss we are no longer at Seven Oaks. The leadership is wonderful and caring. I miss that so much as this is quite absent from the current school.

My son started at the school in the middle of the year due to our relocating to the area. From day one, the office staff treated him with so much respect and genuinely went out of their way to make him feel welcome and cared about! Then he met his teacher, Mrs. Hamlett. She is without a doubt, one of the best teachers we've ever met. She has a unique way of involving her students and they WANT to come to school every day! She gets them involved with life and nature. She nurtures them to start thinking on their own. She doesn't treat them like first graders. She treats them like little ladies and gentlemen and they want to act accordingly. His specialty teachers are wonderful to him also which has helped him to have a renewed respect for art, music and gym, not to forget the guidance department. I've never seen a more organized group of teachers anywhere! Mrs. Wingard, the principal, is to be commended for her part in bringing all of what is important to our students of the future. I know he is getting a quality education at her school and we're proud to say he's a student at Seven Oaks Elementary School!!
