Went here 2017-2021, if you are an upper level student this school is great, the teachers are super helpful if you care about school and education. I went on to get my bachelors from umd as did a lot of my class. There are some serious behavioral issues in some lower level classes that were difficult for teachers to handle. Their isn't much of a punishment system it seems but I never personally dealt with that. Sports seem prioritized despite them being pretty bad at them. You get what you give kind of a school

Loch Raven is a small school where you really get to know the students and teachers. It doesnt feel cliquish, and the students seem to be supportive and encouraging of each other. Despite being small, we have some excellent programs. Our chess club won second in the BCPS tournament last year! The school administrators went out of their way to accommodate my son so he could take AP Calc B/C. The new administration this year has made vast improvements to the school and the structures in place, and you can feel the change in the positive energy at the school! Looking forward to seeing more good things happen at Loch Raven!

School is dirty student body is awful and not controlled. Principal is horrific at her job. Sports Director favors certain Sports and family's who have money and doesn't care for the athlete

No windows, fights everyday, school infested with mice, weed and vape clouds in every bathroom, bathrooms are always closed anyway, rude administration, rude students, either hot as balls or cold as ice, teacher dont care about students academics. Would rate a 0 if i could

Transferring to loch Raven for my senior year was pretty nerve wracking, I didnt know what to expect. First off, the administration is extremely nice and supportive. My counselor is great! The students are pretty chill, except for some of the 9th graders. There are some altercations, but that is to be expected. The teachers are fine, just do your work and your set. I find that in the AP classes, teachers put in more effort; there is less computer work in those classes. The cafeteria food isnt good, but it isnt terrible, then again its free. Loch Raven offers qualifying students to do duel enrollment with CCBC free of charge- super happy about that. Overall, this is a pretty good small public high school.

The school is disgusting and horribly run. Learning environments are toxic. Kids are never punished for disrupting classes and not doing work they are just passed through no matter what. Kids can smoke in the bathrooms get into fights and only get suspended for a few days. They just come back and do it again and get the same weak punishments. The school never has soap in bathrooms hallways and bathrooms are always disgusting.

This school was terrible for my daughter. There is no discipline. Kids leave the school, meet in large groups in the restrooms using vapes. There are many fights. And even kids posting videos of marijuana use in the school rest rooms. Terrible.

HAHAHAHAHA, NO. This school does none of that. It teaches you to group up, and if someone's not a part of your group, make fun of them. This school does NOT do any character developing.

As a Student, I find that some teachers throw homework out as if it was candy. Basically, whatever they want to give you for homework, you have to do, or else your grade goes way way down.

I would rate this school at 4/10, since, honestly, they don't care about the students. This can be seen in some of the administrative staff's words. To quote an anonymous administrator, "We don't need the kids to learn, we just need to make it look like they're learning." So yeah, if possible, just keep your head down at LRHS and you'll probably do well.
