Fernwood Montessori has been more than a school for our two boys for the last 2 years. It has become our community. The staff and teachers at Fernwood take the time to get to know your child extremely well, whether they are the head of the school or admissions, or the main teachers and adjunctive staff who take care of them every day. Our family was new to the area when we joined Fernwood and one of our sons had a harder time adjusting to the new environment. I will not forget how the Fernwood administrators and teachers supported him and communicated with us regularly as he eased into a new routine. Our family had a few challenges in the last couple of years and having the consistently warm presence of our Fernwood community has been truly invaluable for our whole family. The Fernwood Primary and Toddler class teachers are highly knowledgeable and Montessori-trained. They work with the children one on one to ensure they are understanding concepts before advancing to more complex tasks. We relied on the before and after care hours as well, which our boys loved for the unstructured free play time. We wanted a school for our boys to learn, be challenged, grow and most of all be lovedwe feel truly fortunate to have found that in Fernwood Montessori.

I highly recommend Fernwood Montessori School. The before/aftercare program offers flexibility for working parents (drop-off from 7:30 AM, pick-up until 6 PM). The school offers extracurricular programs for the kids each semester, such as soccer and basketball. Both the AMS-accredited toddler (age 2) and primary (ages 36) programs build a strong educational foundation well beyond what a typical daycare can offer. My kids started in the toddler classroom and quickly developed foundational skills they simply wouldn't have gained in daycare. What truly sets Fernwood apart is its exceptional staff - genuinely caring, creative, and deeply invested in every child and family.

Both of my children have attended Fernwood since age two, and it has been a wonderful experience. My eldest has completed three years across the Toddler and Primary programs and is enrolled for one more year in Primary; my youngest just finished the Toddler program and is moving on to Primary. My eldest also attended Fernwoods summer camp program the last two years, and both kids are enrolled for Fernwoods summer camp this year.

Fernwood is a hidden gem - a beautifully prepared environment, a great location, and most importantly, an exceptional education where my kids have grown in independence, language, and love of learning. The staff are outstanding: Ms. Mars leads with organization and dedication, Ms. Shaheen brings genuine warmth to every family, and the teachers and support staff nurture each child as individuals and at their own pace. The wonderful parent community and school events have made the experience even richer. I highly recommend Fernwood.

Two of my kids went to this school (one for 3 school years, the other for 1 year, both in preschool age) and it was a lovely experience. Staff highly implied, personalized tuition and monitoring, great care about parents and the community. Great experience overall, would definitevely recommend.

This school is my 2 year-old dauggter's first one. However, she could settled down in a week and started to enjoy. The staffs are thoughtful and the activities are so self-dependent. We love this heartful school.

Fernwood Montessori is a wonderful AMI Montessori school. It used to be called Lone Oak years ago. Our experience with the school has been nothing but positive, from the nurturing teachers to the involved administration. Our children are thriving and we feel confident that they are getting an authentic montessori experience. The school has been over the whole time during the pandemic and we are very grateful that our kids have been able to go to school in person, and have a sense of normalcy. I would recommend this school whole-heartedly.

Two of our children attended Lone Oak Montessori. The first started in the Primary program just before his third birthday and attended for three years before transitioning to the public kindergarten. We had him attend full day in his third year which was a HUGE help in the transition. He loved his time there and still talks about his teachers and friends over a year later.

Our youngest started in the toddler program before he was even two years old - we had a sudden childcare emergency and the school's administration was extremely flexible and helpful. This is an AMAZING school for working parents and a superior option to more traditional daycare options in the area. He moved on to the primary program at three and loves it, and we see the Montessori influence and lessons carry over at home.

Our son began school at Lone Oak before his third birthday and he is now in their kindergarten program (he's 5 1/2). We've been very pleased with the welcoming school community, level of involvement of the parents, personalized Montessori education and the support/love that the kids are shown. The classes are small and the kids are really given the opportunity to grow. They instill a love of learning in the children and encourage their social, intellectual and emotional growth. We've been very happy.
