Both of our kids attended Tunbridge, and it has been a complete nightmare.
• One child was bullied relentlessly since the start of this school year. We raised it over and over — nothing was done. Not once.
• Our other child’s hand was slammed in a door twice at school. TWICE. Still, no accountability, no action, no concern.

We sent detailed emails and receipts. When we finally got a meeting with district leadership, they showed up unprepared, distracted, and literally taking the call while driving. Instead of solutions, they wasted 30+ minutes asking us to repeat issues they already had in writing. Pure disrespect.

The principal? Dismissive and unprofessional. Teachers? Unqualified and unprepared. Pre-K? A complete disaster — more like a cheap daycare than a school. We had to pull our 4-year-old out because it was unsafe.

At this point, we don’t even trust Tunbridge to take our kids on a field trip, let alone keep them safe inside the classroom.

This school brushes off parents, ignores safety, and hides behind empty excuses. Charter or not, it’s the same as every failing Baltimore City school it claims to be “better than.”

This school is an absolute disgrace and has shown us that not only are the teachers and leadership unprepared to truly care for or educate children, but the facility itself is outdated, dirty, and starved of resources. Walking inside feels like stepping back into the 1970s — peeling paint, old equipment, and a clear lack of investment into the learning environment. It’s obvious money is not being put into this school, and the children are the ones suffering for it. Our 6-year-old has been bullied daily by multiple classmates — pinched, hit, called names, and even had food thrown on him — and instead of taking accountability, the school’s response was to brush our concerns aside or flip the blame back onto him. Our 4-year-old had his hand slammed in the door twice in one week, came home in clothes we didn’t send him in, had his belongings repeatedly go missing, and even told us that his teacher puts him in the corner as punishment, which no parent was ever informed of. The “smiley face/sad face” daily reports they send home are meaningless, often showing 15+ sad faces with no explanation, yet the one time a substitute was there his chart was full of smiles, proving the problem isn’t the child, it’s the teacher. Leadership is no better: the charter manager literally conducted a meeting with us while driving, phone cutting in and out, asking us to repeat information we had already laid out in detailed emails, while her assistant sat on camera with a nasty, uninterested look, cutting us off any time we tried to speak. It was one of the most unprofessional, embarrassing displays we’ve ever experienced from supposed “leaders.” The entire system here feels dismissive, chaotic, and outdated — the school is not safe, not modern, and not built to support children in 2025. We’ve already pulled our 4-year-old out permanently, and if the bullying of our 6-year-old continues, we’ll pull him too and make sure every parent, every attorney, and every news outlet hears the truth about what goes on in this school.

Tunbridge use to be a really good school, but it has gone down hill with new teachers and staff that do not fit the culture of the school. No responses to emails from parents trying to get support for their child, slick responses from leadership, unwelcoming feeling for families except where they fake it at events, new teachers who are not qualified and have no real experience with children and a downfall in communication. This might as well be any other public school in Baltimore City now.

There are cockroaches in the bathroom. Almost everyday I walk into the bathroom and I see the most disturbing view of dead, smushed and hanging from the stall cockroaches. Please don't go to this school unless you want your child to see roaches in the bathroom.

I have 3 kids at this school all in different grades with different learning styles. Tunbrige makes it a fun learning experience for them that meets there needs.

We are very pleased with the learning and social atmosphere Tunbridge has created for our child and family. We love the active way they teach, love the various subjects they include to enhance learning (drama, art, dance, music, fitness). The teachers are responsive and the administration are dedicated. It is a diverse school both racially and socioeconomically. There is much parental involvement. This is our second year here and we have been very pleased.

I absolutely love Tunbridge Public Charter School! My children have improved since they have been enrolled at Tunbridge. The school staff are very friendly and offer a safe, trusting, encouraging, and supportive learning atmosphere. Ms. Adams and Ms. Trees know all of the students and their families. I would, and I do highly recommended this charter school to everyone who is in search of a perfect charter school for their children.

I have children with very different personalities and they are thriving at this amazing school. The staff is top notch and academics are infused with mandatory classes such as drama, dance and art. Children have attended this school for five years and we are extremely pleased.

My daughter is now in 5th grade, and began going to Tunbridge in the 1st grade. I enjoy the amount of activities they have for the students and families, essentially building a "community" of connected people. I have never had an issue with her teachers, although I felt like all of her teachers have been great, I really felt like Ms. Mitchell and Ms. G. and Ms. Lance are more experienced and provided a stern/loving demeanor that my daughter thrived off . I think it's very important that the staff know the children they are teaching and feel connected to them. I really like that they are invested in seeing growth, success, and happiness from their students. They are a newer school and are working towards fixing any kinks that arise. To address a previous comment about new teachers, I would love a mix of older/experienced teachers and new teachers, but I see the value in having teachers that are excited about being teachers, excited about learning new techniques, and excited about getting their students excited! One of my fondest memories about a favorite teacher, was Ms. Tara. I was in the 5th grade and she was a brand new teacher, I just remember her being so sweet and happy. She tried all types of new things with our class, which got me and my classmates excited to come to school! We learned about science and animals through an experiment where we raised and watched the life cycle of crawfish, it was exciting to hold something that was foreign to me (as a pet). So I applaud Tunbridge for introducing new things to their students and building from there. This is better than my daughter going to a school that's been around for 50 years and the graduation rate if below 50%. Keep up the good work Tunbridge!!

The schools theme is health, being healthy students in your community. They talk to the students and listen to them when they talk back. They offer opportunities for students to express themselves honestly and have input in their education.

My son attended Tunbridge from the very beginning. He was apart of the first graduating kindergarten class. His progress throughout the years at Tunbridge has become one the most frustrating and disappointing journeys for my family and child. I loved the families, activities, and loved that they knew my son by name, but providing consistency, resources and experienced teachers was a problem. The foundation that my son received in kindergarten was taught by a unexperienced teacher. Knowing sight words was great, but the phonics and sounds weren't addressed. Brought problems in 1st grade as a reader. Same in math, Money and telling time, never introduced until late 2nd grade. I'll asked for two years for additional resources such as tutoring, never able to provide, expect for one year when a unexperienced teacher offered and the whole class attended. How can a unexperienced teacher be expected to complete such task with no assistance. Assistance available was to request for a IEP. So in other words, no foundation, and now he's behind and only way of providing help is to label him as a special needs child. Absolutely NOT! I'm sorry I should have left long ago!

This school is also a nightmare for responsible parents. Expect to have your character attacked if you question your child's education at this school. Better yet get them into a school that doesn't think a great school rating of 6 is a good as it gets. Its funny how most of the reviews that were written in April sound like the same person wrote them.

Hello parents,teachers, and staff I am the mother of a current TPCS enrollee. My 5th grader has excelled in every subject since enrollment. I love the school's curriculum, daily schedule, school events, trips, and current staff. I wouldn't have my middle sschooler attend any other BCPS.

This schools is wonderful...a strong principal, great teacher-leaders, and involved parents. The children are at the center of the school and its curriculum. The board and non-profit leadership also provide steady governance and direction for the school.

I have a child that has been a student at Tunbridge for the past 3 years. The teachers really care about the students. Some of them give of their time for free with afterschool clubs and activities. I enjoy the fact that they promote healthy living and a caring environment. I like the fact that they promote not just taking care of ones self but others as well. The PTO is very active and involved in the school.

Tunbridge Public Charter School, this school has the best curriculum which is based on good nutrition and physical health. I love the fact that it is a small school where all of the teachers and staff knows every single child..... it's like one big happy family. I would refer anyone to this school

Tunbridge is a great school! My daughter has been there since the beginning and I am impressed with the personalization the teachers provide. They really teach to the students level...low or high. The staff really know the children. It feels like a big family.

I love TUNBRIDGE! My son is a 4th grade student and he loves his learning environment. Tunbridge challenge the kids mentally and physically while promoting a healthy lifestyle. The parents, staff, and student involvement is phenomenal. Safety is a big factor at Tunbridge and is enforced daily, the drop off and pick up routine is a wonderful policy at Tunbridge. Communication plays a major part and the teachers and staff are very efficient with that. Everyone is friendly, the school is very welcoming!! I'm very fortunate to have my son and now my daughter (enrolled for fall pre-k) apart of such a structured and well-maintained learning environment. Most importantly, my son receives a valuable education at Tunbridge and all resources all available for your child to reach their fullest potential. Tunbridge develops mind, body, and spirit which ultimately empowers your child to operate at their fullest potential. Tunbridge Public Charter school is something to know about!!

I love this school. My daughter attended two different Christian based private schools which both closed down. We were very reluctant to seek out a public school and stumbled across Tunbridge..... this public charter school really cares about its students and we all love the family atmosphere. The education services are great and both my children (6th and Pre-K) love the arts programs. I will certainly recommend this school to all parents in the Baltimore City.

Tunbridge is a fantastic school and was a great transition from our son attending a Christian Private school. It's such a family atmosphere and he loves it there. The academics are top notch, the PTO is great, the aftercare program is outstanding and the PAX's values really make a difference. Our daughter will be attending Pre-K in the fall. It's a great place to be for ALL associated.

My son has had a great experience this year in kindergarten with Ms. Brock and Ms. Eams. I know that he is covering the basics and is loved and respected. They also have a lot of great specials such as drama, dancing and music. All of the teachers seem enthusiastic about being there and they seem to really care about the students.

Tunbridge Public Charter School is the BEST charter school in the City of Baltimore. My child has been going to this school since the 3rd grade. They help you through the adjustments and give you helpful suggestions to help your child succeed. My favorite teacher is Ms. Stallings. She really does care about her students. Whenever you have a question, she is there to help. This school is only a nightmare for parents who want teachers to raise their children and don't take responsibilities for the actions of their children! Please explain why it is nightmare because I will write again that the school is AWESOME! My child is in Mrs. Hazel's class and she is a awesome, fair and loving teacher. My child has been at Tunbridge since it opened and is doing extremely well. She even loves math because they have such a great math teacher. Maybe parents that have problems should evaluate themselves , their own lives and their own school histories and try to problem solve at home and not just school! Every experience is what you make it. There are solutions at TPCS.

As a parent of a kindergarten student, I have been exceptionally pleased with the education my son has received over the past 2 years. He is challenged, supported, and growing in all areas; physically, intellectually, and socially. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found this school and are looking forward to many more years of our son, and his little brother, attending Tunbridge! Tunbridge Public Charter School is a fantastic school! They do a wonderful job of creating a positive school environment that promotes respect of self and others. The students receive a quality education and there is open communication with parents. Students are encouraged to participate in developing their own goals and are supported towards mastery. I really could go on and on... Class sizes are very manageable (22 students). Every adult in the building knows the students and addresses them by name. Most of the teachers use strategies from "responsive classrooms" and there is consistency throughout the school with regards to positive behavior support. Yay Tunbridge!!!

Tunbridge does a wonderful job of creating an engaging curriculum for the student and providing parents opportunities to be involved and make a contribution. The environment is newly renovated with ample room for children to move and grow. Although relatively new, the school is establishing a community of parents, teachers and young people focused on education.

Tunbridge is a good school that has to decide whether it wants to be great for Baltimore City or great compared to any school. Many of the teachers are better than some of the surrounding private schools where my husband and I have visited. On the other hand, the curriculum is fair and lacks some of the in depth learning in social studies, science and the arts that I would expect from a great school.

I am a parent of a child entering first grade at Tunbridge. Kindergarten was a great experience at Tunbridge! The teacher was open and commiunicated regularly with parents via email and phone contact when necessary. Staff seem to be very invested in the children and administration was supportive. There were many opportunities for parent involvement. The school staff manage the children calmly and it is a very peaceful school community. Children are taught to take care of themselves, their peers, and their school. Social, emotional, and physical health are emphasized throughout the curriculum.
