The students recite the scholar's creed each day, which gives them standards to live by.

The school staff works well with the young men. There is a zero tolerance for disruptive behavior.
The Principal has goals in mind for each of the young men and sets out to help them achieve them.
This is a safe school to learn.

The school`s new principal, Dr. Audrey Freeman has had a great impact on the institution. She has a vison for BDJ, and she does everything in her to strive closer to achieving this goal. I'm proud to have had my son there for four years. My son was apart of the class of 2014, the first graduating class of seniors at BDJ. Seeing all of those young men walk down that aisle with their classic tuxedos on, and their honorary stoles was probably one of the best moments of my life. The president of Morgan State University spoke at the graduation and granted $20,000 college scholarships to multiple BDJ graduates. There were so many esteemed guest at the graduation, all their to witness history, and to be apart of something magical. Every single graduate was accepted into either a 4 - year university, a community college, the armed forces, or trade school. Not many schools can produce such promise, such hope for young men in Baltimore City. I believe that Bluford Drew Jemison STEM Academy, just might become one of Baltimore's premier schools.

The commitment to excellence by the staff here is phenomenal. From the instructors to the young men volunteering to mentor from colleges - GET UP and Michael O from the University of Maryland - Baltimore County - each of these individuals show so much dedication to acheivement of the young scholars in the school. The uniform maintains a sense of responsibility as well for the students.
