It used to be a phenomenal school when Ms. Collins was principle at the school. Since she left the past 2 years have been horrible. My daughter is in the 10th grade, teachers fail to grade work timely, no afterschool sports or clubs, no connection to families, front office staff is completely incompetent of knowing which way is up and which way is down. The new principle will not meet with families or talk, she does not have the same standards that Ms. Collins held the young ladies too and it shows in the behavior and grades. Constant fights which lead to lack of education actually being taught. Not to mention who has a school nurse who CAN NOT do anything for a school full of young women? Worst decision to stay after Ms. Collins left she made that school what it WAS not what it is NOW!!!

My daughter was constantly bullied and in multiple fights, with little to no support from staff. I transferred her right away. This was her first year as a 6th grader.

This is a nice school, but I think it is dangerous for my daughter. The fights at this school can be so intense that some kids get affected. It didnt happen this year, but last year my daughter as affected. And this year I heard a fight came up and I just dont think this school is safe. I also know about the phone policy and I respect it, but I dont at all trust this school. There are also other concerns like with them paying attention to the kids (high school) and other things in that nature.

The leadership at the school is horrible and so u organized the whole school is a sham they are supposed to be for sister hood but that is all a lie i took my daughter out of there her first year in 6th grade in the second quarter and sent her back to her old school the kids are out of control and the adults cant handle the girls it was fights every day and the only way I would find out is id my daughter told me . There is no type of communication for the school as far as emails .. also if you email an administrator dont expect a response until next week sometime. The movie step shows you how much of a sister hood and great school its supposed to be but the movie is a front and its not at all like the school really is . PLEASE DONT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE

My 10th grade daughter has been at BLS since 6th grade. BLS offers a safe environment where she has thrived academically. With her recent SAT score, she would be eligible to apply for over 800 universities...imagine what she'll be able to do in the next 2yrs...Proud BLSYW Mom

My daughter has been at this school since it has opened. Every school has its pro & cons. The staff main objective is to make sure that "EVERYONE" gets into college. I have never met a group of teachers that are so dedicated & determined to strive for this as if they were their own children. Today my daughter got excepted along with to other school mates a FULL RIDE TO BETHUNE COOKMAN. Not only do these girls go to their regular classes at the the school some are also, taking college classes through out the city twice a week ( University of Baltimore & BCCC). Johns Hopkins University offers SAT PREP classes for the girls as well. Every summer the school sends the young ladies to various colleges to experience what college is really about. Excelling, succeeding and perseverance is what this school is made of and I'm proud that my child is a wonderful part of this greatness. Best investment is your child / children education and this was by far the best investment of allowing my child to attend "THE BALTIMORE LEADERSHIP SCHOOL FOR YOUNG WOMEN "

The curriculum lacks rigor so when the students are put to task they can't perform well and tend to look for ways to circumvent doing the work.

This school is a sham and a quick look at the curriculum and the work load shows that students are barely learning. At Grade 11 the kids have no text books to reference, the teachers write notes on the board and ask students to cram the notes for tests. The curriculum lacks rigor, the teachers are barely teaching and their job is to pass the girls from one grade to another.
While the concept and idea of a leadership school is a welcome idea, the implementation and execution of this plan has sorely failed.
The first graduating class is the Class of 2017 and as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The college admission rates and the admitting colleges will speak volumes as to how well this school has prepared the girls for college.

My school is good...., educational wise, but they don't have sports and cubs for high school. Most of the clubs are limited only to Middle School...( Probably because they want them to stay and not leave like all the other 8th graders in 2012-2013)

This is a wonderful charter school that gives girls the opportunity for a great public education. The girls get to do all kinds of hands on learning. They have a number of enrichment activities like after school STEM Program, Cool Women Hot Jobs and a full time college counselor working with students on college access. This is school has dedicated teachers and administrators who love to teach girls!

This is a Great school! The curriculum is really challenging and the sisterhood atmospere is nice. The school is very clean and their salad bar is great lunch alternative.
