We have really enjoyed our time at this school. My children have really enjoyed there time here. The new administration and PTA have brought a new kind of learning that is fun, exciting, and family involved. We really loved the teachers. Mrs. Merillat, Mrs. Boggs, and Mrs. Tippett are just a handful of super teachers that worked wonderfully with the kids. Every time I volunteered they had their students focused and eager to learn.

We really love this school. Our children really love the teachers and when common core came the teachers did an amazing job with the transition. All the teachers took the time to explain the new curriculum to not only our children, but also my husband and myself. I also have been happy with the new administration that came in the past couple of years. They have brought a new sense of family and community to the school. The new staff has really taken the care and time to make the right changes to make all the children and parents happy. I am proud to say my daughter is entering Plum Point Middle in all honors classes. I feel that they have really prepared her. I still have a third grader at the school and I look forward to the next years to come.

Our school is a dynamic place to work due to the leadership and quality of our principal and vice principal who are supportive of the students, parents, and staff. This support is shown through their high expectations of the students and staff, through the doors that are always opened to listen to cares and concerns, through the respect shown to ALL, and through their own daily examples of giving 110% of themselves (long days and late hours 5 days a week). Furthermore, our school is a dynamic place to be due to the incredible PTA. Our PTA these last two years are found to be warm and welcoming to ALL families in our diverse community. Also, our PTA is extremely supportive of the teachers: volunteers in the classrooms, materials for instruction, celebrations to show their appreciation of their teachers, and all with bundles of SMILES:) and encouragement. Our PTA is found to work around the clock for our school with endless energy. Administration, staff, parents, and our students BELIEVE that Calvert Elementary School is the best place to be! And, since we BELIEVE we are the best, we work hard to achieve!

I have never been happier as an educator working for Calvert Elementary School. Our administration is strong, experienced and very supportive of our staff and students. The changes that have occurred are extremely positive and the increase of our test scores and morale certainly prove it. I challenge anyone to step through the doors of this wonderful school and experience the positivity and dedication of staff that resides there!!

I totally disagree with the previous persons comment! Ever since our new principal arrived things have changed for the better! Our students are much better behaved, because expectations are clear and they are held accountable for their actions. Our academic scores have actually risen significantly. Our ranking in the state improved by 153 schools, we moved from a school index of 4 to a 3. There are two elementary schools that are a school index of 5, so we certainly are NOT the lowest in the county! This is due to our principal's believe in ALL of our students and providing the tools and support for teachers to meet the needs of all of our learners. Our principal and vice principal are very visible in the building and are available for both staff, students, and parents at all times. We have a wonderful PTA that supports our staff and students. The culture and climate in the building is 100% improved! Positive changes have been made and our staff couldn't be happier!!

Our military family has attended a total of 4 elementary schools in the past 9 years. Calvert Elementary has by far been the best experience for us. The principal, Mrs. Haynie, is warm and inviting. All of my children's teachers have been caring and friendly. My son's IEP has been handled in the most respectful and professional manner. His confidence has improved tremendously with the help of Mrs. Doonan, Speech Pathologist, and all the occupational therapists who have worked with him over the past two years. Maryland schools consistently rank among the highest in the nation. After attending three wonderful years at Calvert Elementary, I completely understand why.
