We have had an excellent experience with this school. I have had three children with IEPs for speech, one of whom is autistic, and they have gotten all of the help that they have needed. The staff and teachers are very concerned with the welfare of the students, and are always willing to address parent concerns. Students still get recess, and instruction in health and physical education, art, music, and media center, which I can assure you is not always the case with public schools these days.

Calvert County schools are not what they used to be. The atmosphere is not a welcoming one. During a parent/teacher conference, I witnessed a teacher speaking down to the administration. She was just as belittling and rude to her supervisors as she is to her students, and nothing was done. Parents have been told the problem teachers are basically "untouchable". There are definitely great teachers at this school. Unfortunately, the bad staff brings down the entire school.
I don't feel the coursework is challenging. This school is constantly taking on new methods for grants and funding. Our children are suffering at the hands of an out of touch administration.

My daughter has been going to this school since 3rd grade, this is her final year. Her grades have been excellent and she has had all wonderful teachers that care. She is involved in girls gotta run and band, which is great for the kids to get involved! However I do wish that the field trips were better, they are the same ones every year and awful!

Both of my kids attend Windy hill elementary. From the minute we walked in to the school to register until my oldest graduated last year we have felt so happy with the staff, organization, leadership and curiculum. My kids have loved every teacher and have really enjoyed going to school. This is a top notch school where I feel like my kids can acheive anything thanks to great teachers who are always ready to help! i give this school 5 stars!
