Going to this school has definitely been the worst experience in my school life. I'll admit, a lot of the teachers are really passionate about teaching, but not all of them. The majority of them, in fact, care about their own egos over the students. And during incidents with students, the teachers try to target the student and would rather just not involve family at all. Though, this mostly comes from issues higher up. The way that admin handles things is so horrible and inappropriate. There are a lot of personal insults, and it's almost like their intention is to make you cry. The bias is awful as well. Even if a student is clearly in the right, the teacher will always be sided with.

The signature events and tests here are insane. Teachers don't give out study guides until a few days before the midterms or finals, and it's not enforced that they give it at all. As for the signature events, the science fair and everything might sound cool, but it's a literal nightmare. The teachers only help if it's to scold you, and we're only told to start working on it 2 weeks before the event.

There is a lot of bullying here that is ignored, typically due to bias. A lot of the bullying is homophobic and racial as well, and this is never taken seriously. This school is extremely cliquey and it's impossible to fit in as a new student. Especially as teachers love to single out new students, and make fun of them publicly. There is constant talking behind backs, and it's so awful to see nothing happen.

I personally reported homophobia, racism, and social bullying to Ms. Ghosh, head of school, just to be immediately dismissed, most likely because she likes the student.

PLEASE DONT NOT COME HERE!!!!!

This school is an absolute disappointment. The teachers here seem more interested in their own egos than actually teaching students. They show blatant favoritism towards certain students, leaving others feeling neglected and unimportant. Instead of fostering a supportive learning environment, they belittle and discourage students who struggle, failing to provide the necessary guidance and encouragement. It's clear that many of them have lost their passion for teaching long ago, as evidenced by their lackluster lesson plans and uninspired lectures. Save yourself the trouble and find a school where the teachers actually care about their students' success.

My son has been at the school since they opened. He transferred from another of their schools (CMMS). This school is great. While not perfect (no school is) they have exceeded my expectations. I am sorry to hear about others experience with Admin; however, I do not share those experiences. I have had talks with Admin and you have to advocate for your child but also know how to communicate with strong intelligent people. They do a great job supporting the kids and fostering a healthy learning environment. The only downside to this school is the lack of regulated sports programs.
I would definitely recommend this school to other parent who place education above sports. Understanding, that a school cannot and will not do it all, learning starts at home. Parents need to know their kids and the kids needs and not expect a school to support them 100 %. Communication is key to any and all healthy relationships.

Academically my Child is flourishing and doing amazingly well. Most of the teachers are in fact amazing people, very passionate about learning and think highly of their students. There are some well-respected/experienced teachers regarding teaching students. However, the problem are the HORRORS behind the curtain w/Admin i.e. Ms Ghosh. There is a lack of integrity and accountability by the head of school and teachers. Unfortunately, Ms. Ghosh, does not contain many positive traits and is Very unethical. She is constantly lying to parents about everything to cover what they either don't know or currently don't have in place. She lacks respect when dealing with parents, especially parents of color, students, and some of the staff. The biggest concerns are her lack of clear and timely communication and her lack of organization. As a parent, I found Ms. Ghosh's overbearing tactics to involve herself in every single matter frustrating and detrimental to the students. Administrator is not very responsive and does not encourage constructive feedback. Both Principal and Counselor (when they did have one) would lie a lot thinking parents dont speak to each other nor catch their lies. Rules that they have in schools arent understood or not well communicate. Next, the school is incredibly disorganized and lacks consistent communication. Parents have to have 5 different apps and who knows what information is communicated through which app. Its impossible to maneuver. And sometimes they change policies, but never update the written version anywhere. If you express frustration about their lack of communication or responses to emails, they will condescendingly apologize. They utilize "Restorative practices" though are NOT trained nor certified to conduct such methods. Social-emotional learning needs must be addressed by Staff appropriately trained by a certified educator & they are not. NO Trauma-sensitive programs. NO Licensed Nurse on Staff/Duty on the site ever, no Mental Health Specialist. There is NOT a Licensed Guidance Counselor on Staff. The Educator/Teacher turnover rate is beyond ridiculous to the point MSDE needs to investigate the practices going on behind the scenes. To sum it all up, Ms Ghosh's unethical practices are cause of great concern, she lacks integrity and accountability & whenever they get some type of critical feedback she takes it personally.

Every school has its ups and downs. As a parent, Ive found some challenges with process and policies but have always been comfortable expressing my concerns and for the most part they have been addressed. The positives certainly outweigh the negatives in my opinion. My children love it there. The staff cares about the kids, the teachers are wonderful! Ultimately, you have to find a place that works for you and your family and where your child/children can thrive. Everyones experience will be different for various reasons. After reading some reviews I feel bad some had an adverse experience, but that isnt our story. I would recommend.

As parent of a child who attended this school for quite a long time, I wouldn't recommend it. Most of the teachers are in fact amazing people, very passionate about learning and think highly of their students. The administration is another thing. To sum it all up, whenever they get some type of critical feedback they take it personally, they don't listen to what the students and families of the students are saying, are horrible at enforcing the rules, and I could go on. Administration is very unorganized. Principal and Counselor tend to lie a lot thinking that parents are stupid and wont catch their lies.
So called rules that they have in schools arent understood or not well communicate to the administrations.
When it comes to school bus I can literally count in one hand how many times the bus picks up the kids on time. Additionally many times the school is driver had stopped unauthorized place to pick up kids.
If you want mental and emotional peace for you and your child then DO NOT send your child to this institution. In one word this institution is just horrible.

This school doesnt teach their students anything that kids at public schools learn in AP classes or in their normal classes. If students are having a hard time or are feeling like they need somebody to speak to, there isnt any staff to talk to about it excluding maybe a few of the teachers. Teachers are very approachable and kind for the most part and care about what they teach. They take decent protocols for safety and make sure all students are prepared if they need to take action during an emergency. Parents are semi-active with everything and unless their kids actively tell them whats going on they probably wont know about many things. Their special events really arent that special and they just waste students time just so that the school will look good. Students are very welcoming and theres an extremely diverse community so the people of different cultures and races. But even with that, I most definitely dont recommend this school.

I was recently diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) Dysgraphia And ADHD. The school has done a horrific job of accomodating. I have 9 teachers and not many of them follow the accommodations put in place. The school is also extremely disorganized and the principal is not a very good leader. I have had a awesome experience with one or two teachers who really have a special place in my heart. Overall though, would not reccomend.

I work in many different environment and this by far is the worst place I ever work. I was given appointment for interview but when I arrived there I had to wait for a long time. The person who was supposed to interview was too busy so someone else interview. They ask me like two questions and basically go on and on about how great the school was. I was hired and told to come to work but when I arrived for work, the administrators didn't even know I was coming. They didn't have anything for me but they put me to work immediately. I wasn't given orientations, tour, employee handbook, policy, or rules and regulations. But they put some older employee to spy on me and they would called me to the office to talk to me on something that I did wrong which I saw all my co-workers doing but they only target me. I was told I should know everything since they gave me employee handbook on the first day and btw they never did. I had to email the HR to ask them myself and they only email me back a week later. Somehow a female assistant teacher wasn't experience enough with all her internship duringc ollege and two years of work to be a real teacher but a male recent grad is immediately given the position of a teacher. They expeact us (the assistant teacher) to work from 8-6 (7-5) pm Monday to Friday and even come to work on bad weather and holiday. After working there for a month they asked me for finger print and mind you they make me work 8-6 pm. Finger printing store are closed and they provide me like 3 different numbers to send to which teh finger ptinting store owner thoughts was stupid. You can only send to two which I have to tell the school. The leader are terrible at time managment and organizing. During summer school, they tell us everything last minute and never provide us proper place to stay with the kids. If you are the concern topic you will be the last person to hear or know about it. I taught in public school before coming to this school and I can tell you MDIS curicullum are not more challenging than public school. Public school have better resource and especially if you have a kids with special need, please don't put them in this school. I was suprise to see 4th grader using informal language or texting language (ex. jk, bro, sup) in formal essay. Unless you want a babysitter because of work don't put you kids here thinking they be challenge intellectually. They don't have any resource to support your kids mental and social problem. Worse place ever.

I have to say that I am happy with MDIS and what makes it better is that my child enjoys it. I love how it has challenged him and Ive seen a lot of growth in the past year with him. I really love that the teachers take the time to make sure that if the students need some extra help, they are willing to do help them. Its just comforting knowing that the school that my son goes to has teachers who are passionate in what they do!

My experience with MDIS is unique. I was employed at MDIS for a short time, and my children also studied there.
I think that the overall idea of the school is sound. At MDIS, some well-respected and experienced teachers bring a lot to the table regarding teaching students. They have done their best to meet the expectations of the IB Framework and the standards put in place by the school leadership.
I am probably forbidden from touching on the negatives of the school. I will only say that as an admin, I have years of experience leading and following strong leaders. Unfortunately, Ms. Ghosh, the Head of School, does not contain many of these positive traits. While she is a hard worker who spends countless hours working, she appeared to lack respect when dealing with me, my children, and some of the staff. The biggest concerns are her lack of clear and timely communication and her lack of organization.
As a parent, I found Ms. Ghosh's overbearing tactics to involve herself in every single matter frustrating and detrimental to the students. For example, at one point, Ms. Ghosh pulled my child to the office due to a minor issue that I had already addressed with my child, their teacher, and the school counselor. But, for some reason, Ms. Ghosh met with my nine-year-old child, and if you have met her, she has a way. This left my child scared and feeling like Ms. Ghosh was constantly targeting them.
This all came to a point at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I had been told that my youngest child had forgotten their mask and that I needed to bring them one up or pay ten dollars for another mask. In frustration, I told the secretary that this is stupid and that the policy would change in two days. I took time off of work and went to school with a mask with no incident.
That afternoon, when I went to pick up my children, I was informed that they were no longer welcome at the school. So, without even telling my children to exchange goodbyes with their friends, they kicked my children out of school because I disagreed but followed a school policy. This has left a lasting impact on my children who cried for days about how they weren't allowed to say their goodbyes to their friends and told they were no longer welcome at MDIS. On the bright side, some teachers stuck up for my children, but their opinions fell on deaf ears.
Despite the good things MDIS with the teaching and learning, there is also a strong negative side. So my advice, do your due diligence.

My child is very in to math and science, so I thought this STEM school would be an excellent fit for us. Sadly, that was not the case. The school curriculum is not as advanced as they like to advertise. I can only speak to PYP, but our experience was not that my child was receiving anything above what the public school system is doing. When I brought it up to the administration that my child was not challenged enough, they were very dismissive. Disappointingly, contrary to what they told us would happen when we were initially signing up, they seemed unwilling to make the necessary adjustments to provide them with curriculum at their level.

Next, the school is incredibly disorganized and lacks consistent communication. Parents have to have 5 different apps and who knows what information is communicated through which app. Its impossible to maneuver. And sometimes they change policies during their verbal monthly meetings, but never update the written version anywhere. So if you miss the meetings, you dont get the latest in policies and guidance. Can someone explain to me how a STEM school doesnt have a central website that you can log in to to check grades, find the handbook, communicate with teachers, etc? If you express frustration about their lack of communication or responses to emails, they will condescendingly apologize that their emails must have gone to your spam folder, even when they didnt.

We wanted to really like this school, truly. I was SO excited about sending my child here, thinking that it was going to be exactly what we needed for a child with a natural inclination towards math and science. Unfortunately, I felt that my child actually backslid here. Where my child was doing advanced math in lower grades, MDIS refused to allow them the same opportunity. Sadly, it was definitely not a good fit for us.

As an IB school, I would expect a decent amount of homework to be given to my daughter during the school year. My 9th grader seemed a bit stressed in the beginning of the school year but has learned how to manage her time better. The way MDIS tasks homework is very similar to what she would be exposed to in college.

Any time the teacher have a concern with my child they are quick to reach out to me or my husband. If I have any questions they are quick to set up meeting with the teacher or all teachers to ensure I get all the information that I need directly from the source.

My daughter is an introvert and the teachers noticed it immediately. The always encourage my daughter to take charge and build on her leadership skills. We wanted to instill strong character into my daughter and MDIS is great in bringing this out in her.

Leadership at this school is very effective. Teachers are always willing to help and initiate activities projects. The principal is always available when we have questions or concerns.

Although my daughter is an "A" student and does very well at the school. There has been times where she has been unorganized, moreso because she wanted to bring all her old papers to all of her classes, the school worked with us to encourage her to get more organized. They noticed this was starting to become a problem so they brought it our attention. I'm certain they will be very supportive with student with learning differences.

My experience with MDIS has been great! My daughter started with this school in 9th grade. She was coming from Japan so I was concerned about the education at her new school versus her old school. She is an introvert and very timid at times. She is an "A/B" student and has maintained an A average so far. She seems to get the challenge that she needs as a 9th grader. When she first started with the school the staff was able to met my request about having meeting with the staff since she would be starting the school year without me. They were quick to respond to all of my request because I wanted to ensure she continued to perform well while I was overseas. This school is excellent at communicating with parents about activities, assignments, concerns, and anything related to the school. I'm very satisfied with the academics at MDIS. I love how creative and informative some of the homework, classwork assignments, and projects are. MDIS is very creative with the field trips, it's always a learning experience.

My overall experience was not good. There is a lack of integrity and accountability by the head of school and teachers. There are some teachers who are great and passionate about teaching (Mr. D, Ms. Boiser, Ms. Bubbers, the art teacher). However, overall it was not a good learning environment for my child. The teachers don't differentiate their instruction nor do they take into consideration the different learning styles of the students.

My child has been looking forward to go to the school everyday. At grade 2 , he already learnt the knowledge of life cycle , universe , planets , engineering process through projects . He is always looking forward to his next science topic . There are many hands on activities at STEM class . I also learn a lot of history and facts from him taught at his social study class . It is a very close-knit community which always welcome the parents to involve . We are able to witness the children thrive not only academic but the cultivation of diversity and social responsibility towards our society .
The teachers and the principal has always been engaging and dedicating .Every week I receive feedback from all his subjects teachers in terms of learning attitude and behavior through the online reward system called dojo point . Please check it out and the program worths every penny you invest .

My child loves going to school each and every day. The teachers and administration are very supportive. The academic standards are very high. My child loves all of the hands on activities that are used to teach concepts. In addition, the students have been involved in several enrichment programs that are related to what they have learned in class. My child loves the outreach programs the school has through the Aqua Partners program, as well as the camp-in at the Maryland Science Center. We have recommended the school to several of our friends. Could not have found a better school for my child to attend!

We found that as our child got older, the school he was attending was not challenging him. It was important for us to find a school that would encourage his creativity and personal growth. With the challenging STEM curriculum combined with the creative discussions and hands on learning of IB we found much more than what we were originally looking for. The teachers are encouraging and very supportive of the kids creativity and individuality. The school has a diverse culture that encourages the awareness of others and helps to develop the skills to work together. This school is still in it's first official year and there are things that still need to be worked out but the administration is open to ideas and is working through the first year's struggles. We know at the end of the day that we have made the right choice for our child.

The teachers lack coordination and planning in how they give home work. It's either too much or too little.

Some of the teachers are on top of their game. Others lack planning. Lack control of the class and kids. Some are more in a hurry to get their lesson than seeing whether the kids understand.

Average. The classes sizes are small (12-15) , the science and math teachers are great. Other than these, I am not sure what other advantage the school has.

School is new, but needs to get its act together fast.
