I have two children who attended Silver Creek, and their experiences were completely different.
My daughters are six years apart. My older daughter attended Silver Creek during its first year of operation. She had a good experience.
Our younger daughter, who is six years younger, has a 504 plan for anxiety and panic attacks. She has been seeing a therapist monthly for the past year.
If your child requires support through an IEP, 504 plan, or similar accommodations, be aware that the staff appear to be inadequately trained and unfamiliar with MCPS policies regarding the physical handling of students.
We never had to deal with the staff much when our older daughter attended, which might be why we didnt experience any issues back then.
Another point -
The current principal (school year 2025-26) seems out of touch with whats really happening at Silver Creek. When we asked how the school handles issues like fights and bullying, her response was, We dont have that here.
Really? I wasnt asking whether those things happen I was asking how the school would handle them if they did. And you want me to believe that bulleying and fights don't happen in Silver Creek?

I came to the school a couple years later than the start of middle school and it was amazing. The teachers and counselors were very accepting to my accommodations. I was a little worried transitioning to public school Because of movies, but the kids there at least most were super nice and welcoming. I had friends in my class and I started to love school again which I didnt at the school I used to be at.

I am very disappointed with this school's handling of bullying and the staff's attitude towards students. Despite multiple complaints and concerns raised about bullying incidents, there has been a shocking lack of action from the administration. Equally concerning is the rude behavior exhibited by some staff members towards students. No child should have to endure bullying or disrespectful treatment from the very people meant to support and educate them. It's imperative for the school to address these issues promptly and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

From the moment my child stepped through the doors, it was evident that this institution is more than just a place of learning; it's a nurturing community where students are celebrated for their unique strengths and talents.

The curriculum has inspired curiosity and critical thinking in my son. The environment has instilled a love for learning that transcends the classroom walls.
Safety and well-being are paramount at Silver Creek, and I am consistently impressed by the measures taken to create a secure environment where students can thrive. From anti-bullying initiatives to comprehensive health and safety protocols, the school ensures that every child feels safe, supported, and valued.

Fantastic school. My child had a difficult time transition starting 6th grade but the staff and teachers were extremely supportive. We were able to setup meetings with the counselors, teachers and the principals. No middle school is perfect but this school has a ton of resources and a caring community.

Horrible experience. My child has experienced bullying, assault and seen children vaping in class!! When we met the principle she said that it's the first time she has heard of a fight in the school which is untrue since there are daily cases of assaults and fights. Run away! I am transferring my children immediately!

Let me tell you what happened in the 3 years I have been here. I have been assaulted, bullied, and unaccepted by teachers. Their issues with equality and fighting still stand to this day.

This is an amazing school that welcomes everyone and values our community. It is obvious that the staff and administration truly cares about our kids. They get on top of issues when parents bring them to their attention. Additionally, the counseling department is top notch and goes above and beyond to help when students are struggling. Our daughters have thrived at Silver Creek. The curriculum meets the needs of my kids who really need to be challenged. Our family has been happy knowing our girls were in a safe, nurturing environment with teachers who know how to make learning fun.
