This was my daughters 1st year. We had some issues toward the middle of the school year but the principal handled it.

My 3 children's teacher stay in contact with me! And they have helped my kids raise their grades higher then the last school they attended!

My kids and I moved from Anne Arundel County, and Started Eva Turner in August 2016, I have a 3rd grader, 1st grader and a child in PreK! But my sons reading levels have came up 4 grade levels, and same with their math! My child in PreK learned all her ABC's lowercase cause she already knew the uppercase! She can now count to 60! And when something happens the Assistant Principal and Principal are on it! Just because this school is a Title One doesn't make it any worse then other schools in the area! I'm glad they have the funds to help with everything they can! And to the viewer who said "more kids in poverty" well I'm sorry I truly believe ALL kids deserve an education no matter what their background is! It's not the kids fault! All in All I love how all my kids teachers stay in contact with me wether bad or good! Great teachers make amazing students! I'm glad my kids came to Eva Turner and left Anne Arunde County where the teachers had bigger classes so that means less one on one time! And my kids were not truly gettting the help they needed! Only one down fall the front desk lady is kinda rude at first then when she can see you don't take no crap when it comes to your children she becomes the nicest person! I don't even talk to her if I have to pick my kids up from the nurse! But other then that I love my kids school! Go Tigers!!

I have been a member of the community that surrounds Turner for the last 12 years, although the quality of the community has greatly diminished over the years the quality of education and commitment the school provides has not. This school has benefited my children and me greatly. Turner is a Title one school and that should be looked at as an asset and not a detriment. The funds provided to Title 1 schools by the government provide programs, materials and support that other schools wish they had access to. I have been fortunate to have encountered many dedicated, compassionate and committed teachers at Turner. Where else could you find a Kindergarten Teacher like Cathy McGowan that still supports her previous kindergarten students well into their High School transitions? Our children are an investment for a more profitable and successful future for our global society. Your child s first and lifelong teachers should be the parents; we need to stop relying on the schools to do our jobs and then pointing the finger externally when kids are not successful. I will soon be leaving the community and my only regret is not being able to take Eva Turner Elementary school with me.

Unfortunately this is our neighborhood school. A school with no walls, crowded walkways of cubbys, and lack of communication from staff. My son attends for kindergarten and with ALL my might he won't be returning. Letters about events are sent home the day before, front office staff is rude and unknowledgeable about events and basic information. In class they don't write on line paper and I haven"t seen ANY math assignments sent home. Counting 20 was considered a milestone. THIS IS KINDERGARTEN!! Where's the preparation for the next level? He was learning more when he attended Sunshine Daycare Center, where he had reading, writing and math assignments. Their one beacon of hope is the vice principal who shows genuine concern regarding issues that arise.

I attended this school as a young child and I must admit that I am extremely saddened and even disappointed in what this school has become. I received a SOLID elementary education when I attended this school from 1988-1993 and it is such a shame to see this community decline to rapidly. When I attended, parents were heavily involved in their childrens education, which made this school thrive. Now, the community I grew up with has been replaced with one where parents coul care less about education, sending their kids to school with no discipline or expectations, and treating the staff and administration as if they are mere babysisters for their unruly children. This is why I moved my family out of my childhood town to a completely different county in MD where the schools are significantly better.

I am a teacher at Eva Turner and love my job! I work with amazing children!!!! With this school being title one we receive more funding from the state. Each classroom is equiped with a SMART board and students have access to laptops, ipads, digital cameras, and more! Not very many schools provide this opportunity to their students. We are also a school with inclusion students, parents of regular ed. students often worry that this causes more distractions in the classroom... distractions occur in every classroom, they are just different types of distractions, however having inclusion studnets is more of a benefit for everyone. It teaches tolerance and acceptance, which the world could use a little more of. p.s. there isn't a teacher that I know (at any school) that isn't always busy, our job can be overwhelming... it's because we care so much about EACH child that there's always so much to do!
