I used to go to this school a few years ago and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The place is infested with rats, the teachers rarely try when it comes to the education, and its entirely just disorganized. The building is dirty, smelly, and run down, and compared to the schools in nearby counties such as Montgomery County and Prince Georges, it's beneath any kind of bare minimum to offer.

I was recently a student from Matthew Henson Middle School, I promoted to the 9th grade attending Henry E Lackey. I can tell you there are a lot of problems regarding this school, fight, drug use, and much much more. Yes, there are some good people within the Staff of Henson, but overall this school isn't a safe space for children to get a great education. The school wide scores are low, teaching, they just put on a video and say "Make some notes from the video and turn it in when the bell rings." Majority of the time the students don't even bother doing the work, they go to sleep, or be on their phone, or skip class. I highly don't recommend this school nor Henry E Lackey High School

My daughter loves the teachers and the whole school environment. The staff is really trying their best to stay engaged with families. I approve this school.

Extremely bad experience from bullying to fights on regular bases. Didn’t seem as organized at all kids all over the place. Some staff members showed lack of experience and professionalism like the six grade administrator interim.

This is a great school district. My children have and still are receiving a a great education from dedicated staff that have the students best interest in mind. I moved to this area for the school district and do not regret that decision at all.

My kids are attending Matthew Henson. They are getting bullied by other students because of the color of their skin. The students do whatever they want and the teachers do nothing to stop them. It is a complete madhouse and it will not get better. We are looking to move out of Charles County because apparently Charles County Public Schools teaches their students to hate kids who are white.

My kids are attending Matthew Henson and it is a madhouse of kids running around doing what they want slapping other students and running away, picking on others, and overall bad behavior. There has been no recourse from the teachers or staff against these kids who think they can do what ever they want, and are ruining the experience for everyone else.

I was a student at Matthew Henson, and recently got promoted. I got transferred from Davis. To tell you this, the school itself isn't better than Davis. The people in Henson are so much better than Davis. I seemed to be well-respected because I never caused anything. Most of the teachers are caring. But if you're on grade level classes, good luck. Grade level classes tend to be the rudest and most obnoxious classes ever. Counselors really do care at this school, unlike Davis. They really try to help you. Definitely worth seeing!
