Our son currently attends 6th grade and he loves it. He is an honor roll student and has done great thus far. The teachers communicate effectively with our family and the principal is always striving to make sure the school is safe. There are some troubled students of course like anywhere else but I blame their parents for their bad behavior and not the staff. We are very involved with our children’s assignments and email back and forth as needed with the teachers. The front office is not the best, they can be rude and don’t answers our questions. It seems more like we are a bother every time we go in or call but other than that the rest of the teaching staff is amazing.

I’m currently a student at Milton right now. I love all my teachers because they respect their students and help them fix their mistakes. Some of the students don’t get punished often they disrupt the class and call out rude things some of the teachers don’t punish them for it, I mean they could at least give them a strike. There was a student threatening to shoot the school once and there are lots of fights there though the teachers do their best to break them apart and give an alternative route. Overall my experience was great even though there were a few things I disagreed with but it’s a amazing school in my opinion. I’d give it a 4 1/2 but since I can’t It gets an even better score, a five star.

Some teachers are respectful to the students, while others are nowhere near it. I would not consider this school safe due to the outrageous number of fights and arguments happening in the hallway, and the fact that teachers cannot control students at all. Most students are rarely interested in learning what is being taught or even caring to learn at all.

Great school and well trained teachers. Not sure of the few negative comments but I guess people with the worst experiences tend to be the most vocal.

Ok so there may be some people that don’t like this school but as being a student I think that it’s a great school. I feel like the teachers really take there time to get to know there students and help them grow, But yes it does all depend upon who the teacher is though. Now don’t get me wrong there are a ton of kids but next school year there are will be less student with the rezoning. Most of the teachers are nice and will help you grow not only in that specific subject but in life as you get older. The school does have many after school activities like dram club dance, track(only in the spring) and many more. I hope that my review helped.

Teachers barely give any homework but when they do it’s to much to complete in one day

Posted: March 28, 2019

Teachers do not give students material that will help them in life a majority of stuff we will forget by the next week what we need to be learning is how to buy a house or pay bills or get jobs nothing they teach will help us i life

Posted: March 28, 2019

The biggest thing kids learn in this school is how to keep there heads low make sure they don’t get caught up in any fights or disputes

Posted: March 28, 2019

Students control most teachers the teachers do not step in to help other students with work or problems they just sit back and watch there classes fall apart

Posted: March 28, 2019

Say your in a class and you don’t understand teachers do not try to work one on one with students they just teach and hope you know what your taking about

Posted: March 28, 2019

This school sucks kids run it teachers can not control anything the amount of fighting and bullying in this school is off the charts teachers will look right at them and just give it a blind side with out a second though

Posted: May 28, 2018

Kids here don`t respect the teachers and neither each other. Racial slurs are constantly thrown at other people. People get into fights all the time and most people truly don`t even come here to learn but for the stupidity of others that makes cruel entertainment. Bullying is terrible here.

Posted: May 28, 2018

As far as the education here I give it a 10. It truly challenges people and gets you to learn more if you apply yourself. The funding for the school needs some serious work and adjustment as they seriously need more funding but 10 for education. As for the teachers and students as a whole I give a 2. Some teachers and students try but the majority just don`t care or respect each other.

Posted: May 28, 2018

Some days we have a lot of homework and sometimes we don`t. It truly depends on what teacher you have and how effective you are in class.

Posted: May 28, 2018

Some of the teachers here actually try their best to teach the kids here but some teachers don`t even care. One of the 8th grade math teachers lost over 3 assignments for one student and that one person might fail that whole class because the teacher was careless.

Posted: May 28, 2018

Almost everyday there is an issue. Constant bomb or gun threats are always thrown at the school and the students truly don`t respect the teachers. The police officer at the school had to tackle a student once for being violent in the office.

Posted: May 28, 2018

The leadership is obviously not there because almost everyday there is an issue. Constant bomb or gun threats are always thrown at the school and the students truly don`t respect the teachers.

Posted: May 28, 2018

For the special needs students yes but for people that simply have harder times learning things than other kids depends. It depends on the teacher. Your a teacher its your job to teach our generation, you`re supposed to help kids learn even if it takes more than a day. Don`t get frustrated or mad that somebody is a slower learner than others. Some kids actually get left behind in certain classes because some teachers have short patience.

Some times I feel that they give you too much homework and then you get bad grades because you can't focus in class because you were to stressed about homework.I think less homework would be nice.

I would recommend this school to everyone as the teachers and principals are excellent! They have a very good program for the students, great music teacher, Spanish teacher wonderful and they have great after school programs. My daughter have been in this school from 6th and now in 8th grade. They do not tolerant any unserious students and bullies are not allowed, which is great!

I have a 6th grader and 7th grader at Somers Middle School. I like the school, location and diversity. Some of the teachers should not be employed there. There is an administrator there who definitely should be retired!! I do not like the fact that we are told to use Edline and most of the teachers do not utilize it nor do the update the grades in a timely manner. Some kids have been punished because of their grades on Edline not being current. Case in point, one teacher has not updated grades since 4/10!! The students work hard and it needs to show. I'm really glad that we are zoned for Somers but my husband and I have to be hands on & watch for inequality! I'll leave it at that!!!

I have had one student go through this school already with no problems, but this year I have found that the teachers are overloading the students with homework. Not sure if this is due to transitioning to Common Core, but 5 hours a night for a 6th grader is excessive. What are we teaching our kids about extracurricular activities, family time, and developing lasting personal relationships supported by face-to-face quality time if there is no time for those things? This is why we are a sedentary nation. Where's the balance?

Military transfer 8th grade. Horrible schedule: semi- block math daily and all other courses on a 2 week cycle that changes every time there is a holiday. They don't post a calendar online so you have to figure it out. A program called SOAR/Help seminar that was touted as a character building program when it is in fact a mix-mash of study hall, standardized test prep, and random programs that require extra work with no grades. The kids are not allowed to carry backpacks a "security procedure" yet they have more kids falling down the stairs getting hurt because their hands were so full of books, papers and binders. Have a gifted student? The services are haphazard at best and they seem clueless about how to help motivate a gifted student. No honors Math, an 8th grade gifted English teacher who takes no joy in teaching, doesn't motivate or do anything to make learning interesting and does not work well with parents. The eight grade counselor was no help. You can't take band unless you started in 6th grade. The bright spots: Gateway to Technology class is great, hands on, interesting. Science and SS taught by good teachers with good communication skills. Foreign language is offered.
