My children hate going to school here. It is a fight every single day. Everyday my children come home to tell me that an adult either screamed at them or at another student. My daughter used to want to buy lunch but she is terrified of the cafeteria workers because they are so rude and yell all the time. I watched an adult building service worker yell in the face of another 5th grade student and threaten to tell the principal. I dont understand how they have any authority over students. Its not their job. My son tries to hold his bladder all day because he was made to pick up trash in the bathroom he didnt put there and was scolded and falsely accused by another budding service worker. We are considering moving at this point. My kids are scared to go to school. The administrators are so disrespectful and rude. I have never met such horrible humans before.

Private school or homeschooling would be better. Superintendent Navarro and the BOE have really gone down hill over the years.

To rate this school poorly based on the current administration is a disservice to the educators who teach here. The teachers are top notch. From Pre-K to 5th grade, my children have had exceptional teachers at TC Martin. In their home rooms, art, music, science, P.E., library, technology, counseling, speech, special education, instructional assistants, nutrition services, school nurse, even the majority of building services, there are amazing adults engaging with my children on a daily basis and I will give credit where credit is due. I've had children at TC Martin for every grade, and high praise is given to the educators at TC Martin that care about the work they are doing every single day. The parent involvement at TC Martin is extremely high and the community is very nice with lots of ways to be involved at the school. The newly renovated building is beautiful. The playgrounds do need attention as well as the parking situation because there is never enough parking for school events.

Does the new administration need a wake-up call? Absolutely! Should parents be notified about incidents involving students that are not their children? Absolutely not! We are not entitled to know about everything that happens at the school that does not involve our children specifically. To expect that is unrealistic and ridiculous. Should the current administration address parent concerns? Yes. With THOSE parents who have concerns that are THEIR concerns. Is the school unsafe? No. There are so many amazing teachers ensuring the safety of the students. The class sizes are relatively small compared to the rest of the school district. (this may change with redistricting next year, but currently class size is not an issue). Does the current administration provide teachers with the support they need? No. The current principal seems to work against teachers and blames them when things go wrong, when in fact, the principal is in charge, so it is her responsibility. Does the school provide students with disabilities the support and accommodations they require? No, and that is on the current administration not the teachers. Does that mean this is a 1-star school as the two previous posters are suggesting? No. It means that the school administration needs to step up and elevate their contribution to the school community to the same level as what the teachers consistently contribute. The educational experience is stellar at TC Martin due to the teachers.

After the town hall meeting. When parents addressed the safety concerns about there children and the incidents that were not reported to other parents. I don’t feel it’s a safe environment for the children especially when the Administration and CCPE superintendent did not want to address the issue and let the parents voice there concerns except have them remove from school property.

We have had the worst experience at this school. For an elementary school, there is way too much toxicity. Fights between 10/11 year olds, children harassing other children, teachers not receiving the help they need and IEPs being ignored. This new administration is toxic and unwelcoming. There is always new people walking the halls and never any new jobs being posted. The information sent from the school is never consistent and rarely timely. It's incredibly disappointing because this was not how TC Martin was run 3 years ago. We will not be sending our children back next year for their safety and are seriously considering pulling them immediately after seeing a parent share about her daughter being threatened with rape and the school called it "joking". Absolutely horrendous.

I have 3 boys at TC Martin in grades 1st, 2nd and 5th. This is our 2nd year at the school and although we are currently housed in the transition school, the teachers are making the best of the relocation. We receive updates via class dojo and parentvue multiple times per week. My kids love going to the school and enjoy the many activities the school hosts. From family art nights, to school dances, to movie nights, to the fun run. There's always something going on to help parents and teachers engage with the kids. We're looking forward to the school building getting completed so the kids can enjoy the new space. The only negative we have experienced with the school relates to the buses. Of course, not something controlled by the school itself, but the bus drivers are not always reliable and there is frequent turn over. The school is at least quick to respond when transportation changes occur. We'd also like to see more options for the kids in the library once the new space is renovated. Overall, the teachers really do care about the kids and want them to succeed. As with anything, you get back what you put in. Even though my husband and I work full-time, we do our best to participate in the activities and support the teachers where we can. If everyone contributes to the well being of the school, it will be a success overall. We have seen reading scores skyrocket for our kids thanks to the reading resource teacher who meets with the kids individually. Without her, my kids wouldn't be 2-3 grade levels ahead in reading. We truly love TC Martin and we're happy to be zoned for such a great school.

We had an amazing experience at this school and were sad to leave. They really instilled character into the students and had no tolerance for bullying. The teachers that we encountered were great about communicating with me and were easily accessible by email and phone!

The school is outspoken about its mission and values. In matters of discord or discipline, all sides are heard with respect without the issue escalating. Bullying is not tolerated.

Excellent instruction and values by teachers and other staff. Great support for students and families. My children consistently love their experience at this school, and are learning by leaps and bounds. My son's performance on the common core test for 1st grade math was 125% above the county average, thanks to his teacher!

10 mins of homework per night for each grade. Teachers are always accessible by email and very responsive!
