I went here for elementary school and graduated in 2016, and I don't have great memories. The teachers would single certain kids out, and they would hold certain kids back from certain activities if the teacher didn't like what the kid had done, not having anything to do with the teacher. I just found it ridiculous. Aside from that, the sheer amount of homework was absurd for elementary school. I would have to work on homework for 5-6 hours a night, simply due to the large amount. Not to mention if I had a project to do, that would add many more hours to my homework load.

Mt. Hope has been a wonderful school for the past 4 years. I have had 3 kids enrolled here and they have all loved it. Almost all the teachers here are superb along with the staff. Mrs. Connie is always friendly and on top of things, it's nice to walk into the school and they know you and all your kids. It's truly a community school. Yes it is a title l school however I would not view that as a bad thing as the previous person did. The new principal Mr. Miller is very personable and willing to listen to parents concerns. There are bullying issues but if you bring it to the administrators attention it will be handled. My only issue is after attending such a great school how could you bring yourself to have your kids attend a school like Smallwood Middle. Which is partially why my family is moving to a different area. The middle is awful it's a shame that the kids from Nanjemoy have to attend the middle school in Indian Head. My family will miss Mt. Hope.

The homework can be repetitive which can make it boring for the kids. And does not always represent what they are currently working on in class.

My three boys started this year 2014/2015, Every since they started here, things are wonderful!! The staff, teacher's, administration all are very helpful. They call if need to about any and everything concerning my boys, I've had the pleasure of meeting most teachers in person, some over the phone, all are very respectful and kind. Its a great Elementry school. My children are safe there. I can say its one of the best in the area. 5 's hands down..
