I have been a Cougar Mom since 2010! My first little cougar is now a senior in high school. I love hearing him tell his younger brothers about his teachers and the principle, Mr. Main. I honestly don't want to move until my now 4th grader graduates. I have seen nothing less than a GREAT school continue to GROW and IMPROVE.

All 3 of my children went to this school and had a great experience. Each child got what they needed socially and academically. No issues.

My daughter went there for first grade. We're a military family and I've had kids in school on multiple continents and I can say that Church Creek has the most unpleasant students and disinterested parents of any school my kids have ever attended. The majority of students in her class acted like they had no upbringing whatsoever and didn't have even the most basic grasp of good manners or how to conduct themselves in any group setting. Any time my daughter mentioned something our family had done over a weekend or holiday one student in particular would scream "Liar" at her until her hair and shirt were literally damp from his spit. I reported this time and time again and all the teacher and administration had to say was that the student "has issues". No kidding. I asked to meet with the parents and the parents refused. This was just one situation out of many. After this horrible experience I homeschooled my daughter until we moved. Joining the PTA was a joke-it's nothing but a couple of cliques and the mothers involved don't have enough manners to even greet a newcomer. Avoid this school like the plague!

The students run this school. It has become a disgrace. ItÂ’s sad to see what was once a great school go down the toilet.

It all depends on the grade level and teacher. Some years there was too much, others were fine.

The first 4 years, good. The last 2 years, awful.

Nothing gets handled correctly here bulling continues as a result

Posted: May 25, 2018

I do not like this school I'm there often and every time I am there administrators are constantly being called to handle a out of control kid, my son has came home and told me very mind blowing things that go on that I have had to call the school about. Kids are somehow looking up rap videos and boobs during their free time in 3rd grade..... this is outrageous to me and I have personally seen myself how there is NO control here over these kids, come have lunch with your child here and observe the disturbing situations you will see. Mrs. Provonchi was AMAZING she was kindergarten and after that I can say I have seen nothing that makes me say I'm proud my child goes there. Cant wait to move out of this district.

As a military family we highly rely on reviews from other families for the schools we choose to enroll our children in. We research the school zones prior to even looking for homes to make sure we get our kids in a good school. I believe the prior reviews of this school are very misleading. We moved across the country to this school zone and within two weeks we wanted to move again. My daughter has always loved school and learning but within days of being at this school she began asking when we were moving again so she could go to another school. As a mother it broke my heart. I reached out to her teacher to try to get a better idea of what her day was like and was told there were going to be parent teacher conferences at the end of the month. Well the end of the month came and went with no conferences. There is terrible communication between parents and the school. Our daughter's class didn't even get recess half the time because other children couldn't behave, therefore the whole class couldn't go out. The level of challenging work at this school was nonexistence and because my daughter didn't cause problems she received no attention or guidance. She was bored out of her mind. Needless to say we broke our lease, with permission, and moved into a much better school zone! Be cautious with this school!

We are in our 6th year at CCES and we love it! We have 2 children attending the school and have had great teachers each year. We always feel welcome at the school and they always are open to positive or constructive feedback. In the last few years there have been changes in the administration which has only strengthened the school and the academics. This year, they began a new House/mentoring program on half days that the kids love!! There are opportunities for extracurricular activities in various interests such as Caring Cougars, singing, math, robotics, etc... My children look forward to school each day and excel academically - what more could you ask for in a school!!

The families and students are a joy to work with! Great staff to be a part of, lead by excellent & inspiring administration!! We love our CCES family!!

I would never send my child to this school if I had a choice. It's within our school boundary and it was too late to get exception for another school district. Horrible leadership. Cafeteria is always loud kids misbehaving and no one does anything about it. Kids on the Bus is out of control the bus driver doesn't take actions. You report to the problem to the office they don't take action, problem still there. We can't wait for this school year to be over.

My two children have been attending this school since Pre-K and it's been the best experience I could have asked for. The VP and Principal are always on top of any problems that may arise. They try to be as transparent as possible so that parents are always informed of what is going on. The teachers are genuinely interested that each student receives the necessary attention needed in order to learn. They communicate with me often via email and I can always come to them with any concerns. My kids have adored their teachers from Pre-K, to the latest grade (2nd). Unfortunately I will be moving, and honestly I fear that I will not find a school as great at this one. The scale of education provided to students reflect as we are in the second best school district in the state.

Church Creek Elementary School is one of the worst if not the worst elem. school that my children have attended. The principal is on a power trip and does not communicate with parents before doing something that will affect a child involved. The vice principal is just as bad and the front office staff has no control over it. THE principal has micromanaged to the point that good teachers are leaving. I will move so my child will not have to endure the bully attitude of that principal.

Church Creek Elementary school is a wonderful school with a great administration. The principal has done a great job over the past few years in creating a rigorous academic environment, as well as fostering a caring atmosphere for the students. My son and daughter have thrived academically from their knowledgeable, hardworking, and thoughtful teachers. I've spent time volunteering in both of my children's classes and have seen first hand the hard work and commitment that goes into their education. If you have any concerns whatsoever, whether you feel your child isn't being challenged or has an issue with another student the teachers and administration (principal and assistant principal) go ABOVE and beyond to ensure there is a mutually acceptable outcome. They also have a wonderful band, chorus, and orchestra which we have thoroughly enjoyed attending their winter and spring concerts over the past few years. Church Creek has also done a great job academically which is evident by their test scores. Truly a wonderful school with a loving, safe environment. Kudos to the administration for the great work you do in making our school a great school!

Ms. Spence is one of the best principals I have come across. She pays attention to every little detail and is attentive to both staff and parents at her school. She returns calls promptly and is very courteous to parents. She has turned this scholl around despite what was handed to her when she took over.

Ms. Spence, principal at Church Creek, has been very helpful in making sure that I know what my children are learning. She has been responsive to my calls when I have questions or concerns. My children's teachers are also helpful. I am a happy parent of children who attend Chuirch Creek.

Church Creek Rocks! My daughter attended this school last year and boy do I miss this school! When I think of Church Creek I think of 3 things; strong leadership, strong teachers, strong sense of community! Initially I did not agree with some of the policies Such as their intense check in and check out policy; not being able to freely enter the building. After the school shootings, threats across the country ; I learned to appreciate that the principal has our children's safety as her top priority. The teachers seem to work hard, make lessons accessible to all kids even if they are special needs . I attribute this to the entire schools' belief that ALL kid must have a chance and that ALL kids can learn! When it comes to the school community; I find it to be a welcoming environment! The principal personally met with me and my husband to tour the building, discussed extracurricular activities , and was responsive when we had questions or concerns. I truly miss this school and would still be there contributing , working with the school leadership and teachers if we didn't move out of state. Forever grateful for Church Creek Elementary!

Church Creek is, an excellent school. I am most impressed with the staff. The teachers are on point and seem to care about the students. I am most impressed with the principle. She is very thorough and fair. My grandson had an issue with another student and she immediately put our minds at ease and looked into the matter. She was easy to communicate with and really listen. I think it is important for our children to feel comfortable and to be a part of a caring environment in order to be able to learn. My hats off to Church Creek, please keep up the good work!!!

Church Creek is an amazing school. I moved to Harford County a year ago but before buying my house I interviewed principals and fell in love with Church Creek! The principal, Kim Spence, took me on a tour and shared her mission and vision for the students at the school. During the time we spoke, I saw her passion for education and love for kids. When I toured the school I saw teacher really teaching kids with high expectations and I saw students engaged in meaningful activities. One year later, I know I made the right decision. My daughter is really learning and growing! I hope Ms. Kim Spence does not leave the school before my kids go on to middle school.

Well, I have sat back and waited to post my review of this school, since my family and I are fairly new and I read the previous reviews. Now, after the first quarter has ended, I must say, this school is amazing. And it's amazing not simply because of caring teachers, but because of the leadership of the Principal Ms. Spence. Most people see her business-like personality and thinks she doesn't care--that could not be farther from the truth. Ms. Spence is the only Principal I have known he cares about children as much as she cares about test scores. She knows about students and about learning and I could not be happier that my family live where we do so that our children can attend this school. I know it's not easy for black teachers and principals in Harford County (I hear what some parents say at PTA Meetings) but Ms. Spence is very fair, always has an ear to listen and is ready to work with us to help our son. Thanks Ms. Spence and I hope you continue to lead this great school.

Church Creek is an amazing school!! My child has been in this school since Kindergarten. The teachers are involved in the success of all the children. The people with negative comments have personal issues with change. Life is all about change!

I don't care for this school at all. It was a good school when my daughter went there but went down hill with the new principle. She never did get her certificate for being a safety no matter how many times I called and asked for it. My son is in 1st grade there and hates it. Teachers have their favorites in class. We are involved in our sons education very much and are seriously thinking about taking him out of this school. As far as no child left behind - I think this school forgot all about with my child and some other children. The parents that we have talked to haven't been happy with this school either. The quality of teaching has gone completely down hill. I hate to be negative; but if you child has learning problems or is not a favorite for teachers don't expect anything from this school.

My daughter came home crying the other day complaining that the school is not challenging her enough, she loves school and wants to excel in it. She finds the school lacking in resources and when I observed the teaching there I found it substandard.

My daughter is in kindergarten this year and so far I loved Church Creek. Her teacher is fabulous. The staff seems very welcoming and supportive of all the students. We have enjoyed all the Family Fun Nights.

I strongly disagree with most of the negative comments made regarding Chruch Creek Elementary School. When compared to some of the other "great schools" in the harford county school district, church creek does well with their academic scores. The teachers are warm, caring, and have a personal interest in your childs academic and emotional well being. I've had no negative experiences since my child started attending the school in 2008. My child is an honor student and has consistently done well! Honestly parents need to be more actively involved in their child's education, it is not just the teacher or the priniciples responsiblility. If we are not going to be part of the solution to make things "supposedly" better (I think they are doing a great job), lets not be a part of the problem. Great job students, teachers, staff, and principle; Chruch Creek Elementary Rocks!
