I have two children that attended this school. 1 in honors and 1 neurodivergent. If you have a child that needs in-school accommodations be ready to advocate HARD. I wish I had asked so many more questions before I pulled my kids. Admin seems to push/encourage an authoritarian discipline model. After moving to another harford county public school and seeing such a difference, I wish we would have moved sooner. With that said, my kids were generally safe, and if you have a neurotypical student, they will likely be fine. However, if you have a neurodivergent student, be ready to advocate like it's a second job. A diagnosis and letters from specialists with recommendations will not be enough.

Emmorton is an amazing school. Both of my kids are thriving there. I love the diversity and just learned today that Emmorton is the most linguistically diverse school in the county with 19 different languages being spoken at home among the student body. The teachers and administrators are excellent as well.

We have two children at Emmorton and our third will be joining next year. So happy with this school - amidst all the craziness the past couple years have brought with virtual learning, hybrid, masking, etc. the teachers and administration have continued to go out of their way to make the children feel safe and loved while maintaining our academic expectations. We relocated to Bel Air from what we were told was a "more rigorous" school system and we are hands down, much happier at Emmorton.

Emmorton Elementary is a great school with superior academics. The teacher:child ratio is great! I think it is a great challenge compared to some of the other schools. Highly recommended.

Extremely pleased and surprised by the curriculum at Emmorton Elementary. We moved to Maryland in 2013, and have seen a dramatic improvement in daughter (2nd grade). Her curiosity for learning has increased tremendously and this is in great part to tremendous nurturing and motivating environment constantly offered by teachers , principal, and staff. The challenging curriculum is in alignment with common core and seems to offer more--which is definitely a plus. Parents are constantly kept informed; school has very high standards when it comes to each child's progress and parent's involvement. Highly recommend !

My experience with Emmorton has been not as pleasant as the rest. Getting services for my son with specific learning needs has been a challenge. When asking for something specific in writing from a teacher, she deliberatley disregarded my request. Up until this, I would have said Emmorton has been great for my children. These recent events have without a doubt caused me to question the intergrity of the staff and administrators.

Emmorton is truly an outstanding elementary school. You can tell the moment you walk in the doors of this immaculate and well-maintained school that the entire staff is working for what is best for children. Whether it's the custodial or kitchen staff, the secretaries and nurse, the principal and assistant principal, or the teachers, everyone seems happy and excited to be there. Great classroom teachers, outstanding special area teachers, fabulous administrators!
