Bad, cheap, gross food. Also boys are mistreated and girls are respected the most by all teachers with grades and tests.

I really want to sing the praises of Southampton and absolutely would have 3+ years ago, but I just cant now. To be clear the majority of teachers are quite wonderful and fully committed to the success of their students. What this school lacks is leadership. Thus the reason for the 2 stars. The school provides students and parents a handbook of school rules, yet when these rules are broken there are little to no consequences. I have two children with very different experiences at Southampton. One child is a senior in high school, the other in 6th grade. Both of my children are and were very open about their middle school experiences. My older son enjoyed school and appreciated the then principals commitment to safety and a healthy learning environment free from repeated distractions. Now my 6th grader is having a completely different experience. The stories of student disruptions, bullying, disrespectfulness to adults and classmates. I am becoming concerned about who is in charge because it doesnt appear that admin is. My son tells me stories of the same children being disruptive and disrespectful with minimal consequences. He has stated that when these children are absent the teachers are able to focus on teaching instead of obnoxious, disrespectful behaviors. How very sad this is to hear. It would appear that certain children are essentially able to hijack a classroom. The administration at Southampton needs to strive to make the learning environment more conducive to learning and handle these behavioral issues.

I graduated from Southampton Middle just over 4 years ago, and my brother just finished his first year.
I had a great time and feel like I was well educated. I enjoyed most of my classes all three years. Kelly Guthrie (my counselor at the time), Melissa McKay (my assistant principal at the time), and countless teachers were godsends in making my time absolutely amazing.
My brother looks to be having the same luck, even having the same counselor and assistant principle!
The only thing I don't like is that they split ELA into a writing and reading class. I know my brother and my parents didn't appreciate his reading teacher. That was unfortunate, but hopefully his last two years will be enjoyable!
There is a bullying issue, but it isn't widespread. There's only so much the school can do when the parents are those to blame.

Excellent school.
We are a military family that moves often. This is the best yet. We wish that we didnt have to leave. The teachers and principal go out of their way to help each child. My son has ADHD and requires some additional help and instruction. The staff worked very hard to meet his needs.

Administration and teachers are very lovingly, take care of students, and good, this is reflected in the students.

The school is great. My son, 6th grader, loves going there. It's the first time I saw him getting up early without an alarm. I am excited.

My son learn to be more responsible and clear cut on making decision

Most of the character are developing from family and surrounding where the kid grows up. The school provide enough education and encouragement to helping develop the children. The rest of the result depends on the children and their parents.

The teacher are very reasonable. They put much effort to ensure my child has an opportunity to understand the subject.

Decent homework assignment. My son is happy with the amount of homework that he has everyday although he is not a hard work student.

This school doesn't do anything for their graduating class of 8th graders. No graduation, just a dance that has a dress code of no formal wear and no limos. Really? They're excited about graduating. Let them have the fun they deserve. This school has had bomb threats and i heard about it from my child before the school contacted parents. I'm very unhappy with this school and it's aggravating that they don't care!!!

Students are definitely treated differently by the staff. A student issue is treated differently based on what staff thinks about the reporting student.

My son no longer feels safe at this school. He is bullied constantly and when he goes to staff about the problems he is having, he is either told he's making it up or is blamed for causing the issue. In other words, victim blaming. It is at the point he is hoping we move just so he doesn't have to go back to this school next year.

Both my children attend this school, 6th and 8th grade. Overall, we are very satisfied with the attention of teachers, how well organized the school is and most importantly the education both of my children are receiving.

I recently went to Southampton and I thought it was a decent school. The teachers do their job well and the classrooms are clean and organized. The Unified Arts programs they offer are hands on and intruiging. They conduct monthly fire drills and the principal is kind but also uses dicipline if needed. However, there is a big bullying problem. I can tell the school is trying to put an end to this, but their efforts are in vain. Over all, Southampton Middle is a good school, and I learned a lot there.
