This school is the worst school I've ever seen in my life it's very unsafe and I do not recommend anyone to send their kids there. The bullying and harassment is out of control and all they do is sweep it under the rug and ignore it, the school board does not help the situation they just make it worse.

Im a student here and this school is honestly terrible the teachers are rude they do anything to get people in trouble and there are a few teachers specifically who are extremely rude plus the dress code is top of the line sexist there are few teachers who are actually cool the students are bullys and the good ones are very few honestly I was fine with my image until I went to this school I am now very insecure and the education is fine until you dont understand the assignment or anything like that then your in trouble because no one is willing to help most of the time

If you are doing bad in this school, they will help make you better academically. If you are doing well, they will not help make you better

those are character traits that developed at home before going to Middle school. If they don't have the traits before going, they will not obtain them while in school.

My son had to deal with his own bully as the school won't do anything about it.

The school works for the best interest of the students. Empower, Inspire, Achieve Together!

I graduated from this school in June 2016. I was there 6th, 7th, and 8th and my experience was awesome. Teachers were fun and cool, Despite the reputation and the location, it was awesome. Now there were a few fights every now and then, but what school doesn't have fights? I switched schools a lot and this school by far was my favorite. My teachers and friends were like family. I was living with another family member at the time and I considered this school more of a home. Despite these "State Ratings" it was a wonderful school. I recommend sending your child/children to this school :)

Back to school night was very open, honest and full of expectation . I am not sure how to respond to this question, in it's entirety, as my grandson has been in attendance for 4 weeks.

My grandson started at EMS in August 2015. He graduated from Deerfield, which is just next door. He loves it. The swimming pool he can't wait to get in. Looking forward to a great days of education.

My experience here as a teacher has been wonderful! My students are intelligent, energetic, and zesty! The teachers care about students and reach out to families regularly, to form the community partnership needed for a child's success. Many opportunities are available for students to grow and challenge themselves if they take advantage!

I have two children in Edgewood Middle School. Both having a wonderful experience and enjoying their teachers. I have only had one issue in all their years thus far which was handled swiftly and efficiently by a vice principal. I am confident in their safety as well as being prepared for testing. My children have both scored advanced in reading and math and do well grade-wise. I am so tired of hearing people bash this school. The old reputation of Edgewood being a bad school is long gone. People moving out of the area to avoid this school are ridiculous. Stay put, enjoy a great school! Edgewood High School is next which is even better!

It is such a great school if you are seeking math support, visual arts, music, and science. We might not have the all newest supplies but it is a wonderful place for the subjects listed.

I have "graduated" from Edgewood Middle School the 2013-2014 school year. Going into this school, my once easy to earn A's were slightly tougher. Being an immature 6th grader, I didn't give my all and was more focused on my social life.By the next year, I began improving and taking on new challenges, with the encouragement of my teachers and, blocking out the students who didn't share my ambition. By 8th grade, I accomplished a huge turn around since starting middle school. Through-out the year it felt more natural to get help when I needed it only, I preferred getting it during my independent time so I wouldn't have the unnecessary negative comments from classmates. I also joined the Helping Hands program working with the special needs children. It was an experience I am proud of and glad to have. The students were very sweet and hard workers. Although a lot of student drama occurred during the year , during our "social" we all came together and enjoyed the company of friends and teachers. Overall, my experience at Edgewood Middle School was pretty decent and I will miss parts of it.

My children now in 7tth and 8th grade attend this school and came from Baltimore City Public Schools. The MSA scores for this school are unacceptable and the teachers seem to give minimum homework, which I believe causes a lack of preparation for the students to pass the MSA successfully and have a score to be proud. The teachers except for a few seem not to communicate about the child's progress unless you as the parent stay on top of the teacher about your child. If your child fails, it seems acceptable at that school. I don't get a sense that this school cares about the children receiving an education that will proprel the children for a future at anything more than a community college. What happen to preparing our students to be successful at four year colleges both in state and out of state and not limiting our children to community colleges or just graduating high school. I wish this school cared more about ensuring these children truly receiving an excellent education and one to compete with all the other schools as these kids compete for Magnet schools and such. This school seems that average is good enough and excellent is only for a select few.

Edgewood Middle is a mixed bag, My daughter excels there. But my son who is special needs his experience is completely different than my daughters. IEP's are not implemented and if you try to enforce them you come against resistance. I believe the principal sets the tone of the school and the IEP teams reflect the principals philosophy. Good Luck to any Parent who has a child with special needs!
