This school provides an excellent base of education for current students. The teachers exceed expectations and push the students to excel in the classroom.

So far so good! My child is excelling and has no serious issues with any teachers or other students. The children are safe, and the area is good.

Math homework is assigned every night, which I believe is good because math is so important to practice in order to learn. Minimal homework in other subjects. Reading is required every night, which is also a positive.

I'd say the teachers are above average. You'll have good and not-so-good teachers wherever you go.
Posted: June 14, 2020
They focus on good character traits and reward students for displaying them.

I havent had to deal with leadership, and that's a good thing in my book. No complaints.

I love this school and the faculty. I feel fortunate that my child is able to attend this school.
Posted: May 22, 2020
I feel like the teachers try to balance the amount of work that the children can handle along with what they need to be able reinforce what they have learned
Posted: May 22, 2020
Every single teacher we have had thus far has been engaged and genuinely expresses interest in my child

Excellent experience! The teachers and special educators are exceptional! They really care about their students and are willing to go the extra mile to help where necessary.

There is a tremendous amount of homework for Middle School students. Kids need to have time to play outside and be kids rather than having hours of homework every night!
Posted: May 18, 2020
The teachers and special educators are amazing for the most part. Everyone has bad days, but 99% of our experiences have been positive.
Posted: May 18, 2020
Special needs (SN) and non-special needs (NSN) students are paired together for certain projects. This allows the students to gain a special appreciation for one another, as well as learning things from one another that an adult could not relate to.

The Principal, Asst Principals, and Guidance are all fantastic! As a parent, it is SO nice to see them interacting with the kids rather than sitting in the front office all the time! Even with a school this large, they know the kids by name and they are outside interacting with the kids and saying goodbye every day when the buses come.

Exceptional special educators! Plenty of communication and open door policy.

The teachers, Guidance, and Asst Principals DO NOT tolerate bullying!! It is dealt with immediately and appropriately! I was SO worried about my child going to the Middle School after all of the bullying in Elementary School! We had one incident which the teacher, Guidance, and Asst Principal had already jumped on, contacted the kids parents, and suspended the kid! I could not be more pleased with how they handled things!

I moved my family so that my children could attend the best school in the county, only to find out that the "best" school is based only on the higher performing students, because the higher maintenance (therefore lower-performing) students are forced into alternative options.
Posted: January 14, 2019
There is no standard expectation. Students should be reviewing and strengthening their skills at home.
Posted: January 14, 2019
There are a few who are exceptional, but my experience with the children is that teachers choose the county (lowest paying in region) because it's easy, because any student not fitting the norm is out.
Posted: January 14, 2019
Few teachers or administration members I've dealt with demonstrated the character I would want my children to see as an example, and I've had to make too many excuses for the teachers' and guidance counselor's lack of integrity and follow through.
Posted: January 14, 2019
I had high hopes with a new principal, but his focus on the high performers rather than the students requiring the most attention.
Posted: January 14, 2019
The schools are not supportive of students that do not fit the standard. If the student isn't low-maintenance, the school employs fault-finding tactics and bullying to emphasize and intensify the students' challenges, preventing any chance of success. In the end the student is simply forced out.

I seen people get bully. Even if itÂ’s through words. My friend was bullied and she told no one because she was afraid to. She started to harm herself and her friends saw the cuts and she told them what was happening and said not to tell someone but the friend went to a trusted adult and she got helped. Even through she got help 2 months later she started to cut herself again and cover it up. that meant she was still getting bullied. After 3 months after she cut herself (like the last week of school) she told her friends. See, bullying can happen without anyone knowing and she was at the point that her almost committed suicide. But the bully just got a talking to. I think I it isnÂ’t just the school but the parents too. IÂ’m not saying that all parents do this but some parents let it fly and not do anything to prevent their children to stop bullying others. The school does help a little with bullying but could improve itÂ’s always because when I was at that school I was bored doing the same thing for stop bullying week and stop paying attention to it. I was concerned about my friend and IÂ’m still concern. So I hope this helps give you ideas to improve your school.(P.S. the story happen around 2 years ago.)

There is no leadership at the school. The leadership comes from the central office.

The principal let students group up on a special needs child.
Posted: March 26, 2018
Would not recommend this school to anyone with a special needs child. This school will not provide what they need for an effective education or social support because of their budget. They will be bullied by staff and students, made to feel like a social outcast, and like they belong on the wrong side of the tracks.

My daughter currently attends Fallston Middle and to date her experience has been well. The communications coming home from the school are consistent and clear. The teachers demonstrate care and general concern for the students grades and well being. The only cause for concern I have is that the school shares an entrance with the High School- should an emergency occur or if an early dismissal is needed for a scheduled drs./dentist appointment, you are at the mercy of the bus schedule occurring at the high school and will not be able to leave until they clear out.
