My daughter attended Dunloggin Middle School from August 2024 until August 20, 2026, when she was removed from the school because we moved out of the county. During her time there, my daughter was attacked, and she was suspended from school for defending herself when she was jumped. The school has experienced a great deal of conflict, yet there is no conflict-resolution team in place to address and resolve these matters. In my experience, the administration has made bullying seem excusable rather than taking appropriate action to address it. My child was also exposed to pornography that was accessed on a school-owned device and shown to the students by another child. I was made aware of the incident after receiving a phone call. To experience all of this at one of Maryland’s best school districts confirms that the annual tuition fee of $14,520 is unreasonable and simply not worth it.

Dunloggin Middle School is overcrowded. There are fights regularly in the hallways. Last year one of the girls bathrooms was out of order all school year. There are mice. My daughter had close to no homework for three years in a row. It is not a good school, period.

For decades, this school has been known for bullying. I just don’t understand why or how, frankly. The school is way too crowded to adequately deal with that many kids at that age in such a relatively small setting.
If your kid has anxiety or learning differences, he/ she will get eaten alive. Avoid at all costs.

Mediocre at best. Teachers are rarely helpful to students, and are often sexist.

This school is an absolute zoo. There are several fights daily happening in the outdoor area. Kids are vaping and having inappropriate behaviors going on in the bathrooms. Much drama is happening and the principal can’t seem to handle the school. Teachers seem frustrated. There are groups of problem kids and then you pay loads of money to purchase a home in Ellicott City only to be disappointed by the school environment! Horrible

We bought a house in Ellicott City because of the great reputation the schools have. The kids started at Northfield Elementary which was great and then were redistricted to Northfield Elementary School, which we were also very pleased with. This is not the case with Dunloggin Middle School which sits 50 yards from Northfield. There are two buses of students that are disrupting the entire school. There are fights everyday in the hallway and vaping in the bathrooms. Teachers in non-GT classes are spending a disproportionate amount of time on discipline. It seems to be an absolute zoo that we did not sign up for. We are thinking that we should have moved to Catonsville where you can but way more house for your money and then send the kids to private school where the teachers and administration are in control.

This school is more peaceful, it’s also diverse and the people here are mostly smart and nice. People don’t give others pretty privilege unlike some other schools, and rumours are usually never spread unlike the many schools I’ve went to.

In my grade, there has been a major problem with some of the students' behavior. 1/10 of the students are disrespectful towards the teachers, which isn't because of the school. The teachers are great, and the student progress is outstanding(for those who care about education). 9.5/10 school!

The principal is new and not in charge of anything. The school runs her, not the opposite.

If you have bright kids, don't send them here. I can't stress enough how bad it has been for our 6th-grader.

Posted: May 6, 2019

Homework is assigned online. It is difficult for students to keep track of all of their homework assignments, since so many things are assigned at once.

Posted: May 6, 2019

The 6th-grade advanced math program is a travesty. The teachers are administrators, not concerned with learning so much as going through the motions. We are pulling our son out of this school as a result.

Posted: May 6, 2019

The school breaks kids' psyches down and tosses them away.

Posted: February 28, 2019

Good approach, not to much work. Only reason people complain is because they try to take everything on at once and get overwhelmed instead of breaking it into chunks and planning.

Posted: February 28, 2019

Majority of teachers are kind and helpful.

Posted: February 28, 2019

They don't do anything to make kids like that, but they reward kids who do act like that.

Posted: February 28, 2019

This school often gives activities encouraging kids to be leaders.

Posted: February 28, 2019

Teachers show no bias when grading the work of students and are willing to give their favorite student a failing grade if required.

Posted: February 28, 2019

School helps with bullying if they are come to with it. Otherwise bullying is ignored.

Posted: February 28, 2019

It is a good school, with good teachers, but in my time it was filled with bad students.

We moved from North over here; and my son enjoys the school a lot, and I have found the staff and especially the young principal very helpful, coordinating and courteous. And I believe the Principal along with the vice principal does have vision for the school and the student success. We the parents must appreciate that and also help to achieve the determined goals. The school teacher are skilled and wonderful people.

My daughter was cursed at and humiliated by a student counselor here and NOTHING has been done about this abuser to date. She still works there! The principal is obviously more concerned about her precious reputation and paycheck than the justice that should and will be served to this absolutely horrible counselor that has no right to yell or curse at any student for any reason whatsoever. I am being honest in this attempt to steer you and your children away from this abomination of a school. My child did nothing to deserve this abuse and this is exactly why abuser get away with their crimes. I am outraged !!!
