My kids want to attend the best school system, where they can also gain good knowledge.

If I could post the reports & photos of my son here but I can't, I wish I could but I cant...
KINDERGARDEN- Ulceration on the bus & the school brushed it off like the kids were playing.
First grade, busted eye & pushed down within the first 2 months of school, as usual acted like my son was the issue when he's the sweetest but this school runs this way, they blame both children no matter the situation... The teachers here are just glorified baby sitter that don't care what so ever..
Tgese kids need guidance, if you're not willing to care then leave the school, that's all I have to say besides I hope you all have a bad morning & one hell of a night

My daughter had a terrible experience at this school. She had mild autism but was very well behaved. Never had tantrums or meltdowns. She was treated unkindly by teachers and staff because she occasionally needed one on assistance in class but other wise was doing fine on standard curriculum. Despite the ill treatment from teachers she still went to school everyday eagerly and with a good attitude. Her I.E.P. team took her off diploma track and put her on certificate track with out my knowledge or consent and with out testing her first to see if she even qualified for it which is illegal. Long story short my daughter ended up having to get a GED after completing 12th grade in hcpss because of what this I.E.P. team did.If you have children in this school, take them out. If that is not possible due to circumstance. take a special education attorney to every I.E.P. meeting with you and have them check your childs records often to make sure no changes have made behind your back.

My 3 children have been at this school and all 3 of them have been bullied in this school ten years apart. Howard County schools in itself have a bullying problem that they are not mastering or controlling. Nothing is done to the child who is the bully. Im in the process of taking my son out of this school and no I would not recommend this school.

I loathe this school with a passion. My daughter has been picked on numerous of times and nothing has been. They are always losing paper work forcing you to have to do double the work. There is no discipline for when students do wrong and the excuse is always that they are short staffed. If a hybrid learning environment would have been created, their would still be shortages but would not be as stressful with so many days on and off. At the end of the day, the schools just wanted the money.

In grades K, 1, and 2 the teaches say to read every night. Most most math teachers send home a math packet--1 page per night. Some teachers also send home a homework journal. It is somewhat laid back, so if your child can't handle that much homework, it isn't that big of a deal, but if your child needs more homework there are options.

We haven't had a bad teacher here. The teachers are engaging and seem to enjoy their jobs.

They try, but I have volunteered in the school a lot and the 5th graders in particular seem to have a total lack of respect for adults.

The principal and other admin are very involved.

Each grade has a co-taught class that has children that may need additional help mixed with "peers." If your child is more advanced in math, starting in Kindergarten they have above grade level math classes. This has worked VERY well for my children. The children usually have language arts with their homeroom, then many children change classes for math. Each class has many groups that try to support children at different levels. I am VERY impressed with the way they teach each child at the level they need!!

We haven't had much trouble with bullying. There was one incident with kids on the bus. And I got a call from the admin because the 5th grader that was bullying went into the school and was complaining to admin that I made him feel "uncomfortable" after I asked him is name, so his mother could report the bullying that another little girl at the bus stop was telling me happened. Clearly he used that to play the victim when he was the one bullying. Besides that one incident, I haven't seen much bullying.

My kids have been at the school for 3 years now, and I have not come across any parents that don't like the school. They try to meet the kids at their level academically. For the most part, the teachers seem happy with their jobs, which leads to teachers that engage their students. I volunteer in the school in a few different capacities, so I get to see what goes on during the day. I am very happy with the school. My kids also are happy to go to school.

My daughter has had a positive experience at this school since she enrolled. The teachers she's encountered have been very helpful and have pushes her academically.

Some teachers give homework that is relevant to what has been covered in class.

I think the new principal does not have the control over the students that the past admin did.

both of my children have learning disabilities and are well supported

while they say they are doing something about bullying they really are not. the bully may be loosing recess, but that happens for maybe a day or two not very effective.

Somewhere between 3rd and 5th students go off on a track that is very aggressive and mean. Lots of 5th grade behavior issues.

Despite the negative things I said above our experience at BBES has been for the most part positive. It's a title I school with a lot of diversity. This means we have more IEP's and lower test scores, HOWEVER it also means we have more teachers, smaller class size, and more programs to help support both students and families.

My son attends Bollman Bridge and has enjoyed it very much. He is reading on grade level and his math skills are excellent. Upon reading many of these comments, I would urge parents/caregivers to not hedge their experiences on someone else's. The educational experience of each child will be different based on social, emotional and cogitative ability. This also applies to parent/caregiver as well!
