I'm going into 7th grade and 6th grade felt very welcoming to me. The 7th and 8th graders were nice and they all just minded their own business. Also I liked the teachers. The counselor was also the most welcoming and I loved it. Whenever I had a problem with learning the teachers would explain it and help me out. Even on tests. I recommend this middle school!

This school has done a poor job of supporting and protecting our child. They have a serious bullying problem which they pretend to be helpful with and will meet with you and talk about how seriously they take things but the reality is that they don't really do anything about the problem. After numerous incidents in over a year and several meetings we finally called the police. The officer asked if we had filled out the bulling form/incident report, at this point the staff acknowledged the existence of the form and informed us that we could have found it anytime online. This was precisely the type of thing we had been asking them about but they had kept from us because these forms when submitted count against their record.
I do think the teachers are good and have tried to support our child but the administration is not up to par.

Rosa Parks has a wonderful group of students and teachers. The entire facility has always supported the kids and the kids enjoy and respect the faculty. Rosa Parks is a very safe school in a safe town.

I'm currently in 7th grade and I really like Rosa Parks, the Teachers are great and they really care about the students whether they show it with strictness or eternal kindness and forgiveness. there is a fair amount of homework but it really depends on what class you are in. Gum is allowed in school depending on the teacher and that is the same with anything like stress toys, or food, and I have even seen a kid bring in a few legos to help him on a test. Lunch is a bit too short being only 30 minutes and the food there is usually pretty bad, but still edible. However when it comes to friend groups there are really nice, welcoming friend groups, and there are very mean friend groups that don't care if they get in trouble, they will do whatever they want. I can't speak for the other grades but a big thing in 7th grade is fighting, there are a lot of fights in my grade and I have heard about a few in 8th grade. There are tons of different after-school activities for your enjoyment like a book club, sports, plays, school reporters, morning broadcasters, Rubix cube club, and lots more. This school is full of people who care about you and will try their best to make sure that you have an enjoyable time at school, even if there are others putting you down.
The school itself is very clean, there are custodians that keep the building tidy and the setup is great, there is an elevator in case you get injured, there are vending machines in case you get hungry, and the bathrooms are actually really clean. Our principal and vice-principal are amazing and very on top of everything, our principal comes on to the morning announcements when there is something bothering students but she never calls anyone out, and our vice principal is also very friendly, he is as well attentive and ready to address any misbehavior and reward any extremely good behaviors.

Most of the teachers are amazing! However some have bigoted views. The food is typical American public school-- gross. I would definitely recommend packing lunch or just eating after school instead. The lunch period is 30 minutes and students are not allowed to use their phones. Students are also able to eat where they want or visit teachers. The school does have a dress code but some teachers don't care and others will enforce it strictly. The student environment varies from supportive and kind to groups full of literal bullies. It depends on who you surround yourself with. Most of the curriculum is very well done, but the science department is rather lacking except for one of the 7th grade teachers. The environment is pretty clean as well with nice janitors. Eating in the cafeteria is a nightmare though with food thrown around everywhere. Teachers give a fair amount of homework, if you use your free time at school like in TAP (homeroom) wisely then you will have about 3-4 assignments but if you don't then on some days you might have homework in every class.
Overall, compared to other public schools in the area this school does a decent job.

IÂ’m a student at RPMS, the teachers are fantastic and they care fully about the students. The staff is very interested in making sure all students are kind and accepting. In our TAP (homeroom) we will get lessons informing us of situations in the school with chances for us all to discuss our thoughts. It is a welcoming, inclusive environment, and every single teacher in the school tries their hardest to help us learn and grow as people. There is drama, of course, but everyone in the school is there to help. I canÂ’t say enough about the teachers, they care so much and it shows.

This is Mom. Principal Sanders is amazing. The teachers work hard to teach the students to be responsible - getting stricter on late assignments with each year. Teachers are good and care.

This school is the best middle school ever! I'm currently in the 7th grade and I have to move but I really don't want to! This school is like a home, for example if your homeless or don't have food they give you food on Friday for the weekend. No one gets bullied or picked on, and the teachers are AMAZING. If your ever sad or angry about something they will directly notice, they've got your back. They also support LGBTQ+ (so do I) there is all types of clubs, and you can even create your own club, but you'll of course have to ask the principal. I really recommend for you or your child to attend this school because I don't think you'll find a better school.

Homework is not posted anywhere. The children are told in class only. They offer online tools and the teachers do not use them. My son has two tests today and nothing is listed on the calendar.

Posted: April 26, 2019

Teachers are not as involved as they should. For instance, there is a writing contest by the Montgomery County Libraries. This school's English teacher did not inform the kids about it until the day before the submissions were due. She actually pulled my son aside and told him he should submit something...due tomorrow. I went online and read about this contest and discovered you had to be "registered to enter" months previously, so encouraging him at that point was a waste of time. Real pathetic if you ask me.

Leadership is told of issues, like teachers not responding to emails or posting to sanctioned tools and nothing improves. I had to "insist" on a parent teacher conference, as the teacher kept blowing me off.

Posted: April 26, 2019

The tool teaches one way...common core. Although the parent handbook states it will employ different tactics to get the point across that does not seem to be true.

I see the rating for the school, but I do not understand it. If this is the best out there, then I feel really sorry for the schools that are rated lower.
