So the children that are not getting a special award or certificate but passed are not invited for the ceremony and will get their certificate in class. This is so wrong all students should be recognized for the work they have done through out the school year and passed moving up to high school i am beside myself i just can't believe it. I have had a grandchild that went to this school during Covid and they still had a ceremony/graduation outside with the Principle and we took pictures. How do you think the students feel that some are having a ceremony and some are not because they aren't good enough this is a milestone for these children.
Unbelievable Marley Middle School you should be ashamed of yourself. What highly Educated Person Decided this???

The administration at this school is shockingly horrible, ineffective, and disengaged. Most of the teachers we've encountered are doing their best. It feels like the principal and assistant principal are doing everything they can to make the school a locked down miserable experience. If your child needs special education services good luck.

The administration at the school are the worst. They are out of thr building more than in thr building. If your looking to meet tht Principal good luck. You are not on her level. This school is out if control and the school board does nothing to help. They rely on thr principal to do the job and that is impossible le if you don't k wo what is happening in your school.

Hello. I am a student at Marley middle. My experience is bad. Right now, Im in the 7th grade, and I also attended last year too.
1. Teachers
Some of the teachers are nice. When it comes to discipline, its only 1 star for me. Some of them yell at the kids, some of them dont want to teach at all, and some of them are good teachers. Classes are also boring. I mean, of course, theyre educational, but yeahhh Teachers dont really try to provide any kind of fun for their students. Not the ones Ive had at least.
2. Students
Students? Students Daily, students mention fighting, use of drugs, and even gossip about each other. This school is very diverse, and not every student is bad. But most are. Most of the time I hear them say the n word or r slur, r slur upsets me most as I have a special needs sister. Even Unity day, the students watch the presentation but they dont seem to learn anything from it. You know?
3. Classes
Class options are good, but I just have one concern. *The quality of teaching* When teachers teach, students are often not interested in the topic. Im going to mention gym. When students sweat, theres no running AC. The gym is wide, but there isnt an AC. For some people, the sports they teach arent fun either. And you know *that time of the month?* They should provide another sport that isnt too intense, at least, for people who are currently going through that time.
4. Lunch food
I had to bring this one in, because the food here isnt that great. I have seen many students find hair in their food, food is low quality. Chefs, do better. Its basically the same menu every week. I thought we were diverse, but okay.
That is all for my review. I dont recommend this school. Unless your child likes drama I guess. But I dont. A school is built for education, not drama. Parents, please dont send your child here. Youd probably regret it.

Hello, I am a student at Marley Middle of 2021-2022 and I would like to say the school has changed alot. It is much better then some schools I have been to. It also has classes like, art, sewing, digital art, cooking, music, PE, Spanish, French, singing, dance, band, ect. It has come a long way from what I can see in some of these reviews. Also as you can see those reviews are from around 2013-16. The school is also very diverse and anti bias. It is amazing from my standards and if you where to not take your child here just because of the old reviews I hope you reconsider with mine.

Unfair balance between students and teachers so overall the school does not show honesty whatsoever.

The teachers do not know how to control classes and the principal lets the students fight, don't come here at all!

All students are treated different if the teacher don't like the student they will lie on them

This school is terrible. They do not help your child. My child was bullied they did nothing to stop it. When he defended himself he got suspended. The principal is unprofessional doesn't make time to talk to parents. That school has lied to me on so many different occasions and if the teachers lie on the student the administrator s lie also you cant trust no one. I would never recommend that school for anyone !!!!

This is the worse school I have ever worked with. I am sitting in the office now getting my sons transfer papers and the office staff is agitating a student that is already upset. There is an epidemic of kids that cut themselves and administration does nothing to bullys but then punishes the child that is bullied after they have had enough. There is a few good teachers that want to make learning exciting but the rest of them need a new profession because they are letting down our kids :(

I currently have a seventh and sixth grader at this school. Last year we had problems with my son being bullied. He was punched twice. Once for getting the answer right when the other child didn't. I don't think the staff handled it properly. I think that they brush some of it under the rug. I am hoping that this will be a better year. Other staff there including guidance counselors I am extremely pleased with and they are very willing to help. My sixth grader is ADHD and severe anxiety so I foresee this year I will really need the counselors help. From what my son tells me there is a lot of fighting in the classrooms and it is disruptive. My oldest daughter went there around eight years ago and she said there was a lot of fighting back then as well. Mostly with the boys. I think the school could improve upon somethings. Last I checked there was zero tolerance when it comes to bullying in Anne Arundel county. I think part of the problem comes from when they redistrict and changed what areas feed into Marley Middle.

I have a 6th grader at Marley this year and have had a great experience with the school and staff. Not only do the teachers help the students they have been proactive in problem areas, with after school help on Tues and Thur. This is my second child to go through Marley and so far I have been very pleased with my child's education. Between the parent conect and after school progams, it is hard not to succeed.

I agree that the staff do NOTHING but sit back and watch kids FIGHT violently in the hallwalls, bully each other and act like animals. The teachers don't help students that need extra attention with classwork. My child has been going there for 3 years now and it hasn't gotten any better. It's really a shame how bad the staff is.
