The current administration is abysmal. Teachers are unsupported and afraid to say anything for fear of reprisals. There is fighting daily in the lunch room which remains largely unsupervised. Bullying is a huge issue that goes largely unaddressed by the administration, affects numerous kids, and teachers are left unsupported to do the best they can. Safety plans have been drawn up with no intention of actually implementing or following them.

The current principal (Moore — in case this hopefully changes in the future) is more concerned with attendance and receiving her federal dollars than she is about supporting her staff, or protecting and educating kids.

The school board needs to take immediate action as this school is failing its students and teachers.

My family has had a wonderful experience at Meade Heights. I have a child that has graduated from the school and two other children that are currently enrolled. The teachers have been responsive to my children's needs and have been able to effectively communicate with me. Ms. Otwell is a wonderful PreK teacher and my child is thriving. Meade Heights has been a wonderful school where it seems the students needs are put first. The new principle Mrs. Foster is easy to talk to and seems very involved with the students progress at the school.

The principal is awful! She will not implement IEP's and makes excuses for everything

Posted: February 28, 2019

My daughter has an IEP and it is not being implemented. She is extremely behind her classmates because she is not being helped like she should be.

Good at some points but overall it has not been good because my daughter is suffering

Posted: April 12, 2018

This school does not work well with students with disabilities and will do there best to have the students removed.

Posted: April 12, 2018

The school has dismissed bullying cases many of times and when the victim reacts they are punished.

Posted: April 12, 2018

under the new principle Ms. Foster its the worse, we miss Ms. Galiger.

unfortunately under the new principle the school has gone down hill. She has lied on students, interfered in their learning, dismissed complaints, and has pushed more students out of the school in the little time that she has been there then any principle before. She does not show concern for these students, she seems to only be there for the power, yet refuses to use it to benefit the students.

The teachers for our Pre-K and Kindergartener communicated daily using the school homework folder, through emails, telephonically, and in person. They asked for my goals for my children at the beginning of the school year and now I can say both of my kids are reading and writing, which was on my list of goals. My Kindergartener has reached a 2nd grade reading level and we are so thankful to his teacher for helping our son exceed our goal.

Periodically the teachers give out awards for Student of the Week. My son won the award and the award stated he was being recognized for his compassion toward his fellow students and for assisting them after completing his own work in class.

I have had an excellent experiences working with the Lead Teacher and Principal.

Posted: May 25, 2017

The teachers my Pre-K and Kindergartener have are creative in their implementation of educational material. They included related school field trips, outdoor learning stations, and a combination of hands on learning stations and technology based learning (computers, tablets, smart board, etc.). They also took the time to assess my students and tailor the learning experience for them. For example challenging my kindergartener with 1st and then 2nd grade vocabulary and reading materials after he completed the kindergarten level.

They assisted me with a bullying issue my Pre-K student had on the school bus. They contacted me and the bully's parents. I received confirmation they enforced discipline according to the Student Handbook, which satisfied my concerns. My student did not continue to have issues after the school got involved and ironically the bully is now a friend, like on some after school special. I was pleased with how they handled the incidents and commend them for being protective of my son.

Overall my family has had a great experience with Meade Heights Elementary School. I am surprised they are rated as low as they are, but there are a lot of students from military families that move frequently, and I hear that can effect the schools ratings on this site. My advise would be to take a tour of the school and decide for your self. Also I will say all the poor reviews I could find are 10 years old or older, so it's likely the problems they complained about were gone by time my kids began attending.

All homework for our Pre-K and Kindergartener was due on Fridays or the last day of the week. The homework came in a packet with instructions and examples to assist parents.

I really love this school! The teachers and administrative staff at this school are just wonderful!! I have nothing but good things to say about them! They work towards educating the family as "whole". I am not sure why the ranking is so low but this school has done the most amazing job in educating my child. My daughter was reading fluently in Kindergarten thanks to the amazing teachers at this school ! I give them a perfect 10!!

Amazing administrators and staff! Really the most positive principal I've seen. My child's teacher was great too. She only attended Meade Heights for PreK before moving, but I was impressed by the school. A few of her classmates on the other hand were very rough around the edges and had a lot of discipline problems. Not the school's fault and they were really trying to help all the kids, even the challenging ones. Not sure why the school is rated so low. Low test scores maybe? Parent involvement was kind of low. The current school info is not accurate, they have staff members, art class, facilities, etc. that aren't listed.

Above all Meade Heights is a wonderful school. If what you are looking for is a school that has wonderful teachers, administrative staff and people to love your children, this is it!!! What this school doesn't have is strong parental involvement. Even though this is a school on a military post (located outside of gate however) there are only about 10% of the families military. Most of the rest of the school is low income. The principle is WONDERFUL. Mrs. Gallagher is one of the best people I have ever come across in my life. She just loves these children like each and everyone of them is her own. Being such a small school she knows every child and parent by name. Even if it was a huge school she would still probably know them by name. Every time I walk in that building I feel welcome. My 10 year old loves it. The only problem I have with Meade is the lack of parental involvement. But what the parents lack the staff makes up for.
