Our experience with this school is great the teachers are very knowledgeable and supportive. Being new to the middle school Al staff and teachers helped our child to a smooth transition.

Staff don’t do ANYTHING absolutely nothing, counselors don’t solve anything and most of the time are out or in meetings. Principal and assistant principal couldn’t care less of the problems that happen within the school for example bullying. Counselors and the front desk ladies have an attitude and don’t help AT ALL. This schools hygiene is absolutely DISGUSTING, they have rats, roaches, flies, and smells that linger in the halls. They don’t resolve anything and suspend and give wrongful detention for no reason at all. Overall this school is AWFUL, the staff, the counselors, the principal, the assistant principal, the students everyone in that school are terrible people. STAY AWAY.

It would've been a great school if they focused on the safety. I know there isn't a lot going on in middle school and it is very understandable that it's a rough and difficult time for some students, especially with puberty, but from my time here at Wood, it seems like it was much more difficult and different. I had more negative experiences than positives and while there are some nice clubs that can get SSL hours, the school isn't doing much on getting safety issues done with police like fighting, assaults, etc. I felt uncomfortable at the school and while the high school (Rockville) is better, please don't expect much for your kid while they are at Wood. Some teachers are great, but most of them as other reviews have stated have left or moved to different schools. There are most likely some good teachers right now at the school, but it's hard to tell. I don't personally recommend this school and even if you are zoned for it, these three years will most likely be very rough.

Terrible school when I went here. In fact, I feel like it has gotten into a worse state as a school in general. As an alum, I saw many negative safety issues that weren't being covered, especially when a boy brought a fake gun to the school during club activities after the school day. Most of the good teachers at the school had left or moved to other schools around the county, and safety at the school has been getting increasingly worse over time. It's cleary many parents at the RHS cluster have mixed and negative experiences with Wood as a whole, but there isn't much going on at the school either/ There a few clubs and sports for your child to play in, but it is very limited as of now, and it is better to wait until freshman year at Rockville. Otherwise, good luck if your kid will be attending this school

Kids feel safe and like they are learning and having fun. Some of the new policies on devices and Chromebooks have really helped. Most families I know share their kids had a great year this year.

Don't come to this school. The kids run and play everyday. There are no consequences for foul language or disrespectful behavior. The admin sit on their hands and hope problems will just go away. if you are a teacher looking for a job, don't apply here. It's terrible. They will find ways to shift blame unto you instead of disciplining students. We have people in leadership positions who receive 6 figure salaries. It's all a waste of tax payer money.

At this school I have learned a lot of good things in the past year, even my map scores has increased a lot from elementary school. But I also learned about some not so great things like some bad words. Also mostly everyone is cussing and fighting each other everyday. The only thing that the school does when their is a fight is suspend the students that are involved for a week. On the other hand, their is some bullying in my grade But I know that the teachers are trying their best to stop the fighting, bullying, and cussing. However, I believe that education does come from home too.

this school fell off so hard. if you're thinking of moving and bringing your child here, i urge you to reconsider. the administration here has almost nothing, with a girl being jumped at the nearby safeway and the school stating that they wouldnt take action because it was outside of school ground. when i went, what ended up happening when people got in fights, even if it was their eighth, they would be back in about a week. they love to encourage students to stop propping troublemakers up, but the truth is no one is doing that but the administration, who instead of taking action send emails, make up mottos, and have someone who got jumped sit with the person who attacked them and talk it out. when i went, there was a girl who wore work boots to school to stomp someone out. the week after? i saw the girl who brought workboots. the girl who got attacked came back with stiches.

basically, i dont know how its like now, but i know for a fact it is no more different than when i went. major safety issues, but i never got in any fights so. take it how you will, its only a matter of time before a member of staff is assaulted or a student dies in a fight

This is absolutely the worst school I have ever attended, there are absolutely no responsible adults at this school. Drugs, sex and illegal activity are well known. The culture is horrible many people I know are not mentally healthy. This school does not provide a learning environment at all. Things are thrown in class and the security guards flirt with female students. Dangerous and not a place of education. The community is trying to keep the property value up by sending students to Richard Montgomery, which does not seem like a healthy place either. This school will soon fall apart entirely. Beware.

This school is so much fun, I learn very well here and have made many friends in less than a year. The teachers are supportive, kind, and caring, and overall an amazing school. I have so much fun here every day and am always excited to come back Mondays. The building is clean and nice and we have everything we need here like books, pencils, paper, a gym, and more. I do recommend coming to this school. Just like any middle school, there are kids who are unkind, but 90% of the kids are very sweet. I have gotten nothing but support and kindness going here. I am only in 7th grade but I am loving it here so far and I am happy I still get a year here. :)))

Middle school is hard. Socially, it might be the toughest time in a child's life. Every school has its good and bad points, but Wood has far more 'good' than 'bad.' Some of the teachers are absolutely wonderful - kids can hardly wait to get to their classes! Others are heartless and/or just terrible teachers. We averaged one 'bad' teacher per year. The student body is typical - some cliques and bullies - but 90% of the kids have great hearts and do their best to get by without intentionally hurting anyone. The extracurricular activities are numerous and varied. They have 'morning show' and opportunities to study with teachers during lunch time. Tons of intramural sports, a spring musical, and 'teacher of the year' directing band and orchestra. There are Promethean boards in every room. Administrators are great listeners and quick to deal with any issues - and secretaries greet visitors with a welcoming smile. Best of all, everyone from Wood goes directly to Rockville - so these kids go to school together for 7 years a strong chance to build lifelong friendships. Recommended.
