Mis hijos asisten ah está escuela y nunca eh tenido problemas con su estudio mis hijos aman está escuela y asus maestros No tengo queja alguna por el contrario mis hijos lloran por ir ala escuela dicen que hago trampa que no los mando cuando no hay clases ellos incluso se van enfermos y la escuela me llama que vaya por ellos que no los mandé así que los dejé descansar pero si ellos aman ir ala escuela es difícil dejarlos y entiendo algunos padres que tengan quejas sobre el bullyn pero no es algo que la escuela enseñe los niños lo aprenden en casa ellos reflejan lo que aprenden en el hogar si en el hogar hay amor y armonía será lo que ellos reflejen en su carácter pero si hay violencia ellos aran lo mismo en la escuela con otros niños los padres deben hablar con sus hijos y expresar su comportamiento escolar debe mejorar por qué aunque en la escuela los castiguen y si en casa los padres no asen nada para que ellos mejoren es difícil Aser personas de bien no es responsabilidad de la escuela educar hijos ajenos es de los padres Aser Asus hijos de buen carácter responsabilidad de la escuela es educarlos anivel profesional sus carácter se forma desde casa.

I would have given this school a 5-star rating if it werent for the behavior of the principal. Unfortunately, her attitude and lack of respect towards parentsparticularly those who don't share her backgroundwere disappointing. While I will refrain from making any assumptions, I do feel it's important for her to remember that as a principal of an elementary school, she is in a customer service role and should treat all parents with respect. A more approachable and understanding demeanor would go a long way in improving the overall experience at this school.

I would like to give 5 stars because of Ms. Christen, a Pre-K class teacher. She is a wonderful teacher I have ever encountered with as a parent. She is texting me every day while my daughter taking bus towards her home. The way she teaches and handles with her assistant Ms. J are diligent!!!

I love JRES. My kids have attended for the past 5+ years with my youngest starting in KG. The curriculum is rigorous, and the staff wonderful to deal with. They are in transition as they look for a new principal. As an involved parent, you won't have anything to worry about. It's a partnership. The teachers always welcome conversation. I trust their judgement regarding my kids. They have been thriving at Jackson Road.

I came in worries at the test scores, and some of the comments/framing of this site. I've been converted with how caring the teachers have been, and the pride, diversity and learning. I think it's been fantastic.

I like that they send home the homework for the week. My child is always responsible in bringing it back on the Friday.

I communicate regularly and freely with my child's teacher. I appreciate that they are always open to communication. They always advise how we can assist my child's development and advancement.

So far so good. My child is now entering 3rd grade; reading at a grade 4 level and is in an enrichment program. The school has a feel of community and support.

We have had nothing but positive experiences with the teachers at Jackson Road. Our daughter is in 5th grade there now. Her K, 1, 2, 3 and 4 teachers were simply the best - caring, talented, treating each student as the budding individual they are. I kept thinking we got lucky, but each year, she has had another strong, caring teacher who was instrumental to her thriving and continued love of learning. I think classroom size is an issue just about everywhere and that's the only one I would raise. I am not sure how teachers manage to teach so many kids, all with incredibly various personalities and abilities, but somehow they do, and in no way do I feel that my daughter gets shorted in the process. My only concern would be regarding an incredibly disruptive student in her class two years ago. I should have taken my concerns to the teacher and principal but didn't fully realize till going to school in April for my daughter's birthday just how much or a distraction this student was causing in class. I blame only myself for not speaking up - I would not have hesitated to talk to Ms. Macias about this. She knows the students by name and seems friendly and approachable. But as you can see, my biggest impression is from the teachers there and I can't say enough good things about them. This is also an extremely diverse school, which I love. It's the only environment my daughter has known and it represents the real world.

My son has learning difficulties. We tried parochial private school, but it simply was not equipped to attend to his needs. Jackson Road ES provided him with lots of support so he could succeed in school. The MCPS approach to children with learning difficulties is proactive and effective. His teachers were fabulous. I volunteered frequently throughout the year, and got to see their caring dedication.

Jackson Road is a very diverse school, with families coming from many different backgrounds and experiences - making this a great school to help children become truly global citizens. The assistant principal and counselor are dedicated, caring professionals who work diligently to make Jackson Road a safe and positive learning community. The small class size allows for individualized attention and much care is given to selecting teachers who can meet each child where s/he is. While family involvement is limited at this point compared to many area schools, there is a group of committed parents of young children who have re-established a PTA and are working to create opportunities for parent participation, which will undoubtedly lead to a richer and more vibrant community. All in all, JRES is much better than it's given credit for and is definitely worth considering as an educational option for your child.

My son encountered bullying, which almost caused us to pull him from the school. However, when reported,the school's response was appropriate and effective. He stayed and ended up learning and growing a lot from the experience.

My daughter attended JRES through her elementary school years and my son is a current 4th grader. They both love JRES. The teachers are, overall, FANTASTIC! The class sizes are smaller than at other nearby schools and the extra resources (because it's a title 1 school) are wonderful. I'm so happy that this is our neighborhood school.

Sending your first child to school is always emotional - then you look at ratings, scores and some of these older reviews and you get really nervous. Here's what I can tell you - Jackson Road ES is a fantastic school. Class sizes are small, teachers are enthusiastic and wonderful. The school building is newly expanded and renovated. I'm amazed at how many of the teachers know the names of children that aren't even in their classes and greet them warmly by name. I love that my daughter loves her school - she feels safe, supported and is excited to learn every day. Don't let the fact that Jackson Road is a Title I school scare you in any way - enjoy the benefits of small class sizes, additional staff and resources, free breakfast for all students and more.

Our child had a run in with a bully at the beginning of his first year. We alerted the staff and they pounced on it.

In fact, that one time "bully" is now a close friend of our child's. He feels safe at Jackson Road.

Before sending our first child to Jackson Road, we were skeptical. The ratings, reviews and test scores made Jackson Road look pretty bad on paper.

But we decided we had to go see the place for ourselves and we're glad we did. I'm not sure what was happening back in 2014, but Mrs. Macias quite literally greets us and our children with smiles and handshakes when we're there. The teachers are great and very responsive. And the PTA is making a strong comeback.

If this is your school, go check it out in person before you ship your child somewhere else (as we almost did). This has been a great experience for us.

Our child goes to Jackson Road Elementary, and we love our experience there. The teachers and staff are caring, and class sizes are small. In our experience, any issues are dealt with directly and in a timely fashion. The PTA is new (formed last year) but active. If you want to give yourself a voice, join the PTA.

Mrs. Macias has been nothing but nice, and was integral in getting the PTA started again.

I attended this school and initially was very happy that my children would be attending also. Well this is their third year at Jackson road and I'm so disappointed. The principal Mrs Macias is a horrible. She bullies the staff and children. I don't know how she is still the principal. It is my understanding that plenty of parents have complained and reported her but still she remains. I'm currently trying to get my children into another school do that they do not have to continue to experience this horrible situation they call Jackson road. Some of the teachers are great at what they do however they seem to have their hands tied when it comes to going above and beyond for these children. Several teachers have left.

We've had some great teachers. Many have left. Principal is lacking. Parents & PTA are seen as obstacles to overcome. Bullying comes from the top.

The teachers are talented and committed but the principal is bringing the school down. She BULLIES the staff and students and makes the environment very toxic. She doesn't know instruction and forces teachers to do things that are developmentally INAPPROPRIATE. There is a very high turnover rate which is never good for a school and she has an OBVIOUS DISDAIN for the special education population, students and teachers alike. It amazes me that she still holds this position.
