The school teachers use an app called ClassDoJo in order to communicate with parents. The MH PTA is very strong and supportive. Bus drivers are always on time, and breakfast is for free no matter the income. Lunch is $2.55 with no Gov support etc., which is very inexpensive, teacher/student ratio is very low as well. No complaints on my end.

I cannot love this school enough! The teachers, the Principal, the PTA... It's all very community oriented. During the pandemic, the teachers we had were NEVER unhappy, frustrated, mad, nothing. They ALWAYS had smiles a d STILL loved what they did. I am so impressed and I will never leave.

My child is a kindergartner at MH. The experience has been outstanding with teachers and staff that have helped my kid to excel at reading and math ahead of the state/district standards. I have loved that she is part of a neighborhood school that is diverse and more reflective of Rockville as a whole. Don't follow just the test scores. Visit, talk with staff, teachers, and parents before deciding.

This depends on the grade; in earlier grades I thought it was too much (across the county, not just this school). In later years it has been an appropriate amount.

Meadow Hall is a school with a large number of ESOL children and sadly that often brings down ratings. Both my children were at the school from 2008 through 2016. We loved the diversity, their class sizes were small (18-26 per class with a teacher and a teaching student intern), and they received individualized attention. Teachers love the school and it shows. Please do not be scared by ratings... Talk to parents, teachers, and administrators before you decide!

I wonder what the this website factors in when rating each school. I almost didn't send my daughter to MH based on their low rating and I'm glad we decided to take a chance. Last year (kindergarten) my daughter had a fantastic very invovled teacher, that put all my worries to rest. I actually brought up to her in one meeting the rating of the school on this website. She didn't speak to the rating as she didn't know what they took into consideration, but spoke about the school. She said MH is one of the better schools she has worked at, she said take a look at the tenure of not only the teachers but the staff. She said the admin and teachers get a long great where other schools thats not the case. I was concerned about the number of ESOL students and how that would impact my daughter's education. THey have teachers that come in and assist those students. I was impressed by how fast the ESOL students learned to read, some even at a faster and higher rate then my daughter. I volunteered in her class once every 2 weeks. Class size is small. The school gets a lot of money due to the special needs program and there is free breakfast which is great, so I wonder if that may figure into their rating. Doesn't make sense, but neither does the low rating of this school. First grade is going pretty well this year and I'm going to be sending my 2 other kids here. My daughter continues to score above average in math and reading and I have MH to thank for that. I know that all the real estate website use this site for school ratings. Please take the time to do your reseach on potential schools and don't rely on this site, as the ratings are skewed.

We were also quite weary at first, based on the same overall rating score of "4". Both of our kids go to this school and are absolutely happy with everything and everyone. This school seems to really have the resources to pay attention to each student individually and encourage them accordingly, Our son was immediately picked for a special reading group after he showed more than average reading ability in Kindergarten. At the same time we thought our daughter, was very slow to pick up reading and writing in preschool, yet after 3 months in Kindergarten she started to excel and and is almost as good as her brother in 1st grade . The biggest plus in this school is the fact that they can afford to keep the class sizes under 20, so every kid gets the attention they deserve. The principal and his office does a great job with being involved and always trying to improve things. It feels like this school is a great big family where everyone knows everyone. Of course there is always room to get better but every school has that, even the ones with the higher academic scores!

We had a few concerns about the school based on it's current (4 star) "rating." Indeed, the test scores indicate that the school does not perform on the same level as other Montgomery County, or even Maryland, schools. Upon closer examination, we believe this is more a result other factors (free lunch, demographics, etc.) vice the education. Some might have a slower start, but the kids all do well in middle and high schools. As for our experience, it couldn't have been better. The teacher(s) was fantastic, the principal was very involved, and our kid excelled. In the end, ignore the "stars" and see what people say about this school. It's a 10 in my book.

I used to go here in Kindergarten. I only stayed for a year and I missed it when I moved. I'm in highschool now and I haven't forgotten about this school.

My oldest son just finished his first year of kindergarten at Meadow Hall. We love this neighborhood school- he had a small class, a wonderful teacher, and learned so much this year. He's very excited to start first grade in the fall.

Both of my children attended this school. This is an excellent school academically, and the teachers are outstanding. The principal is very caring.

Meadow Hall is the best school in the area for special education students. My son made so much progress and is well integrated with typical kids, while receiving all services he needs. Staff is competent and dedicated and the Principal is great!
