Great teachers and great school. The learning environment is very immersive and the facilities are great. The school was a blue ribbon winner from the Department of Education

I realize that if I don't rate highly, my review will likely be dismissed. But my review is highly critical of the school and serves as a warning for those who are moving to the area in hopes of joining the IB or going to a "great" school. I am class of 2022 RMIB, and my case is a unique one; I entered the IB as one of 23 in 11th grade rather than testing into it like the other 120 or so IB graduates this year. RM is largely represented by its IB population and their academic achievements and merits, despite making up only a fifth of the school. They dominate extracurriculars and exclude those who aren't a part of IB. While you could argue that IB students are inherently "smarter," and as a result, are a part of more extracurriculars, getting into the academic extracurriculars as a regular student is daunting, shameful, and demotivating. I speak from experience as the only leader of the school's science club to have entered IB in 11th grade -- the rest entered in 9th. That experience could be an entire review of its own, but upon entering IB, it was much easier to gain access to leadership positions and get help from those around me; I was given credit for what I did instead of being ignored. There are also other disparities that must be addressed. Teachers in non-IB are significantly less passionate about their work and mistreat students while their IB counterparts are more trained, passionate, experienced, and better paid. The non-IB population is diverse while the IB population is not. The IB encourages students to think in global terms only for them to be blind to the disparity and inequality within their own school. It seems as though within RM, there is its own "achievement gap" that hasn't been addressed by the countless SMOBs produced by the IB program. When thrust into the position of leadership and expected to be leaders, students will be motivated to live up to that expectation. However, for those who aren't, seeking leadership in a school dominated by elite students is traumatizing.
However, there are many other opportunities as a resident of the RM cluster that should be recognized. The Montgomery College Early College program is a great way to get a head start on college credits while being surrounded by a community of students from all over the county who share similar interests. The Edison program helps in developing technical skills, and even staying in the regular program allows more flexibility of schedules (more college credit).

We had three children go through RM and while all our kids had different strengths and weaknesses, the school was a good experience for all of them. All three could have done the IB program but were happier taking the same rigorous AP classes that are offered at all schools around the county. They found their teachers engaging, we found administration supportive, and they all enjoyed the wide variety of extra-curricular activities that were offered with good support by the school and parent community. We felt that the school community very much reflected the diverse community in the county. All schools have issues but based on experience, when there was an issue, the school staff was ready to take it on

The IB program is one of the best. Challenges students and prepares them for college.

Terrible experience for both my children. Bullying, gangs, drugs... The past year has been a relief thanks to the virtual classes. Most teachers don't care about their jobs. One teacher harassed my child about abusing drugs, confusing him with someone else.
Some teachers don't even grade the student's work. The administration's solution was to withdraw my child from the class with no credit for work done. This was done without my permission. Now the same thing is happening again with another teacher.
This school pretends to be a great community, but it is toxic to the core. If given the choice I would not send my children here. Beware.

Great experience. My daughter graduated in 2019 and did very well. She was in the IB programme and was accepted to 7/8 schools. Performing well in university. She was well prepared. Teachers were top notch and supportive. Good administrative staff as well.

Nor really great. my son was bullied and no serious attention for student that are not attending IB program or playing sport. he was very happy with school and friend when he was in middle school but his high school experience is so terrible that he does not want to go to college.

if your student is not in IB or AP, they barely give homework to student. if they do, it's something very basic. I felt like my son was still going to a middle school.

Some of them are good but do not do any extra effort especially for student who do not have English as first language. some teachers could complain for no reason

Rampant drug use, child was bullied, extremely negative and dangerous experience. Unless your child is in the IB program do not send them here.
