My child was dangerously unmonitored on unsafe playground equipment and sustained life altering injuries following a push by another student off the equipment which was over 6 feet tall. The administration suppressed my child's account of the incident. Following the incident she was provided no counseling and I was told by the health center that she was fine to go back to class. I consider this school to be dangerously unsafe.

Excellent school and community. The kids are thriving and have plenty of enrichment opportunities. The communication with parents is great and there are lots of ways to contribute and stay involved. I am so glad we moved to this neighborhood

Nice team, friendly, always want to help and solve any questions. They teach children well. Good manners are instilled in children. I really love this school. I have something to compare with.

Westbrook has been a wonderful place for our child who began zoom kindergarten in Fall 2020. The teachers are eager to engage, communicative, and partners in all they do. Mrs. Faerber (the school counselor) is innovative in her approaches, always willing to lend an ear, and engages deeply with each student. Mrs. Cox is also communicative, warm, and is delighted to see the kids each day.
Overall, our child and many others find the school safe, friendly, fun, and a real community. We couldn't imagine going to any other elementary school!

My daughter entered the school last year in 4th grade and loves it. Great, caring teachers. Lots of parental involvement.

The administration is appalling. Classes are overcrowded. Our teacher was nice, but heard horror stories about other teachers in the same grade. Overly officious in their communications about fire trucks and then no communication about more serious events.

Black students are being suspended 18% of the time at this school when the state average is 7%, moreover Black students only represent 2% of the student population at this school so why the blatant discrimination against Black students? The superintendent should take a close review and provide equity training for the administration and staff. This is appalling, scandalous and completely unacceptable!

Great school. It has been amazing to see what has been done by the school to make sure kids are learning and socializing effectively, during this pandemic.

Worst school for children with disabilities. The so called SESS program is terrible with no clear approach to help the children. Parents have zero say when it comes to MoCo and WBES. The school is going to do whatever they want with your child despite any concerns a parent may have. There's no such thing as a team approach at this school. It's you against them. Always!

There is no consistency with homework assignments for the students. One week you may get 5 homework items, and the next week zero.
Posted: December 3, 2019
Teachers are put into roles they are not properly trained and qualified for. Working outside of their scope is evident with the lack of knowledge, and lack of consistency among all. There is a huge deficit of resources for children with special needs, and when questioned, the answer is always "we don't have the staff."

This school has taught my child anger and aggression as a result of being bullied, and forced into situations that are inappropriate for his disabilities.

The school principal is a joke. She barely has a clue what's going on in the school, and relies heavily on other entities within the school to pick up her slack.

My child has been at this school for 2 years, with multiple learning disabilities. He has regressed so significantly due to the lack of resources, lack of consistency, and lack of a appropriate individualized education plan. My child does have an IEP in place, but the school team makes changes to meet their own needs (whether staffing or resource driven), rather than focusing on the child's needs.

Bullying forms are not responded to, addressed, or investigated in a timely manner. Once someone actually does follow through on a complaint, no action is taken. For example, a child who has bullied another with multiple complaints filed, still remains in the same classroom with the opportunity to continue bullying daily.
