HORRIBLE. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL.
Bullying is downplayed by the administration and teachers.
There is extreme favoritism for the children of the PTO board.

Currently, the teacher seems to be ok. Things change quickly with teachers though.

It seems there is no structure with how things are handled with kids. Everything is about investigation and not communicating to the parents. I have to continue to visit the school unannounced to get information.

No one seems to be a leader. No one informs the parents of anything except parties, when your child messes up and cleaning up. They ignore the fact that your child has been kicked in the stomach. Will not call for that.

They don't let you know and seem to cover over it. Counselor doesn't care about it, just wants to add your kid to a mentor program.

Child never seems to know how to do their homework and we are asked not to help them because they want them to know a different way.

Starting in kindergarten, they send home a small assignment each night to get the kids into practice of doing homework.

Ive been really impressed with everything at the school from the new principal to the teachers to the active PTA.

Over 8 yrs. at this school. On surface, seems like a nice school, however, most initiatives and programs are superficial in nature and resume building-- not necessarily beneficial to students. Low staff morale and high turnover. Pervasive atmosphere of fear at this school. Little Art and Music here-- school administration does little to initiate or provide real opportunities for creativity. Weak parent community and no parent partnership with school principal. In fact, she does everything she can to discourage parent involvement. If you are considering this school-- please look further into the school!!! Interview parents from this school, look at the turnover, ask if staff ever attend events outside of school day (they don't!) Several staff members are not even friendly or nice to the children. Few strong teachers here. School attracts mediocre employees. The low morale here has negatively impacted the entire environment at this school. If I had to do it over again, I would look into moving into Stonegate and/or Cloverly ES areas.

Westover Elementary has been our community school for 8 years. Both of my children have attended, my youngest completing 5th grade this year. The administration is not overly friendly or approachable. Some teachers were very strong, others extremely weak. It seems teacher turnover is high in the school. Strong teachers make all the difference - I just wish the school could attract and keep more of them.

Teacher and staff involvement here is high. Focus on reading, math and critical thinking skills.
