We absolutely love Mast Landing School! The teachers are well educated, diverse, and experienced. We have lived in other states where the education system has been highly regarded, but Mast landing sets itself apart. Our kids have thrived at Mast Landing and we are extremely thankful for all of the teachers and staff!

I was always amazed at how much the kids were learning at school. They teachers are learning some amazing skills at differentiating learning across many levels. There are also math and literacy strategists that teach the teachers so the teachers are becoming the best teachers they can be.

I like how they begin building the habit of having homework, but it's a small amount and not too intense.

Both my children have learned by leaps and bounds at this school. I loved watching them lose themselves in books, perform in drama productions, run for student council, put on economics fairs, run fundraising drives for charity, make Keynote presentations, learn about science and history, play multiple instruments and sing in harmony, make pottery, and learn new ways of computing and conceptualizing math problems. When any question or doubt arose about my child at school, the teachers and staff worked with me to address it. The feeling in the school building every time I walked in was of positive engagement. Love this school!

It's hit or miss with finding a teacher who is compatible with the students. Only some of the teachers respond to having parent volunteer. I think that there is a lot of value in having volunteers in the classroom for math and literacy, even science units for that matter. Parental involvement should be encouraged and for the most part is, but not the case with some teaching staff.
Some of the 3rd grade teachers have lacked professionalism when managing difficult children, to the extent that the child felt bullied and singled out. Instead of addressing the symptoms, they chose to ridicule the child in front of others. Unprofessional conduct to say the least. An average score was given based on the past four years of experience, not this year.

MLS provides an atmosphere where children are valued for their unique qualities. There is a strong feeling of community, teamwork and tolerance.

Mast Landing is a creative and innovative schools. Teachers are some of the best I have encountered. Their work with the kids, the parents and the community is fantastic. My children have all had a wonderful experience here.
