But in todays world, there is no longer a competitive advantage in knowing more than the person next to you because knowledge has become a commodity available to all with a swipe of a finger. Now, adults need to be able to ask great questions, critically analyze information, form independent opinions, collaborate, and communicate effectively. These are the skills essential for both career and citizenship. Yet developing these are precisely where our schools fall so short. As we churn out millions of kids each year from an education system that teaches and tests them on narrow aspects of content retention that any smartphone can handle, we set them up for failure, unhappiness, and social discontent.

My daughter was ill prepared for BAHS. She watched quite a few movies inc class- she's a whiz w/ remote controls now. After her third year in BAHS she is doing well ( no thanks to poor study habits aqquired at Troy Howard) Teachers are good overall.Principal needs to stay in Camden. Maine needs to get back to a more traditional teaching format.Rote memorization works well for most of the world.Liberalism has failed our children.ML
