The staff is caring and dedicated to create a positive learning environment. Although the school building is old, the teachers and students create a safe and supportive community.

I have had two children attend this school, both special needs. The staff and admin were well trained, caring, and worked with us for the best for our children. Communication was always quick and reflective of current practices.

Our children went to this school with so much hope. Several years and a lot of bullying later I no longer trusted the principal or many of his staff.
All of our children were relieved to no longer attend this school.

Some teachers give homework and some give absolutely none. Its not consistent.

This school performs below state grade level across the board. Something is definitely amiss.

This school attempts to develop strong character in its students. Sadly the out of control behavior and endemic bullying overshadow and undermine the attempt.

Mr Berkowitz is good at telling people what they want to hear. Its lip service with no substance. He is not a strong leader.

Bullying is a serious problem in this school. Attempts are being made to address the issue but change is a slow process.

Since Mr. Berkowitz took over as principal at Fisher-Mitchell, things have radically improved. He genuinely cares about the students and it shows in how he works one-on-one with them. He's a terrific leader, too - the teaching staff seems so engaged, compared to how things were before Mr. B arrived. The school has a great gifted and talented program as well as programs for kids who need a little help catching up.

Both of my girls went to Fisher Mitchell. They had amazing teachers who challenged them and engaged their love of learning.

The school is full of caring adults and awesome kids. The school makes itself open and welcoming to parents.
