This school district is the worst in the Jackson County area. Not only do they care more about legacy students, it common to see athletes getting away with more stuff rather than your average A+ student. Half the teachers coach sports and have heavy favoritism, letting those athletic students get away with disrupting behaviors. The bullying issue in the district in general is disgustingly upsetting. My daughter went here from kindergarten up until her senior year, she was bullied relentlessly by kids she had grown up with!! The principal of both the Middle School and Highschool refused to take any sort of action against bullying and the GUIDANCE COUNSELOR!! told my daughter she gets made fun of because of the way she dresses outside of school (she is into makeup and gothic fashion) which i think is completely unfair. This school claims in advocates for uniqueness and for being yourself but wont do ANYTHING for my daughter. She got in trouble for getting into a fight with one of the boys bullying her and here we are with a week long suspension all because my daughter was trying to stick up for herself. NEVER SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!

Academically they cannot compete with other school districts. They just do not have the course offerings. A lot of emphasis is placed on sports over academics. If you are an average student or high achieving, you will be fine. Otherwise, you will struggle and be left to figure it out for yourself.

this was a fantastic school when randy McLain was the principal. Once Mr McClain retired the school went downhill quickly. The principal and the Vice Principal do not care about the bullying situation that we have at our school they act like they don't want to be bothered. The only thing this school cares about is sports it's not the kids who are being bullied trying to make it through school so that they can get into college. My daughter has been bullied and this school district does not care. The kids are able to do whatever they want to with no consequences. I Agree with many of the other parents this is a beautiful city to live in but I would not send my children to this school if I had another choice. I have a daughter that will graduate next year I will move my other two children into another school district. The school district should be ashamed. please find another school district for your children.

I have 2 daughters that attended the Oak Grove High School. My oldest daughter graduated early and was punished for being intelligent and motivated. The principal and school board would not let her attend her senior prom or walk with her class at graduation. In which I think is ridiculous. Money is the motive. If the kids graduate early, the school loses money because they don t attend the rest of the year. Another problem with the school is bullying. My daughter was bullied by a girl and eventually a fist fight ensued. When I went to speak with the principal about it, he just wanted to sweep in under the rug. My daughter and her bully were suspended, but he bullying didn't stop when they returned. The principal didn't want to deal with it, so I had to take my daughter out of the school. I would not recommend the high school. It's a shame because the elementary and middle schools are great.

I don't feel like oak grove has the type of sportsmanship that it needs during high school sports. but i also think that oak grove is a nice place to live in.
