Hello, i am a 7th grade student who goes to lakeview middle school. In my 2 years of going here i have experienced not only unfair treatment from students but also from staff and administration. It's like with every incident that happens, they find someone to blame, regaurdless if they did it, or if they were a bystander. The admin does not treat people fairly and constantly show favorites, and i have heard some admin talking bad about 2 students. Which is completely unprofessional. The teachers rarely care about you and most do not put effort to make sure you understand, or check up on you. Overall i would go anywhere besides lakeview.

I go here and the environment is calm and very nice. We have the best teachers here and we face no discrimination. I love Lakeview and hope it stays thriving!

This school sucks! My first frieday of 6th grade there was a gun brought to school… all people like to do is get high everyday in the bathroom then continue to skip class with other people then when principals see them roaming and see that they are CLEARLY high they just tell them to get back to work. The teachers don’t care about your well being or education. The lunch food is DISGUSTING!! They served us spoiled milk for 3 months STRAIGHT! They don’t check expiration dates. The school is full with rich, spoiled, mean, self obsorbed kids. If your not rich your not good enough for anyone. THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!!

While Overall Park Hill SD is rated well Lakeview Middle School is not and for good reason. When my son went to Graden the staff was amazing and he did extremely well. I have a pretty introverted, quiet kid with Anxiety/ADD who is on a 504. When he made the transition from elementary school I reached out prior to school starting to change his plan because I knew transitions were going to be hard and the middle school schedule would be a challenge. The guy doing it refused to do anything because they wait until after the 1st quarter to evaluate 6th grade learning plans which makes absolutely no sense. So, a few weeks into school my usually easy-going son is not doing well, super overwhelmed stimming again (we had it completely stopped at Graden- he only does this when he has severe anxiety) and then one day they made all the kids send emails to parents (without explaining their ridiculous 80/20 grading which means grades are deceiving and may look like they are failing when they are not- pretty dangerous when you do not know a kids home life but ok) where he thought he was failing a class and basically made it clear he now felt stupid. When I had a fit about this and his 504 the coordinator did nothing but "talk" to teachers and after 2 weeks we made the decision to pull him from Lakeview because his self esteem was rapidly declining. The 504 coordinator did not even call us until a month AFTER we had already pulled him 2-3 months after school started to revise his plan. The topping on the cake was that some kids brought a gun to school and the kids were not taken to a safe location- my son spent an extended period of time sitting in an open area (lunchroom) with kids told to stay put while they locked the school down and "handled it" and they were told not to call parents when they had no idea what was going on. We also had issues getting anything out of the admin staff- completely unresponsive and unhelpful any time we had to deal with them. All of this was obviously shocking after having such a great experience at Graden - I would never recommend this school and will not be sending my student back in middle school specifically because of how poorly run this school is.

The school is amazing school. Tons of great students and people. They don’t push weird agendas on students. Teachers stay private and don’t share their private life in the class room.

Lots of ways for students to be involved. Highly engaging curriculum. Teachers do a great job of preparing students for high school. School communication has been top notch. Leadership, including the principals, have been great to work with over the past few years my kids have attended there. Parent involvement could improve since it seems as though a lot rests on a few to get things done to help the school. Front office staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

My family moved to Parkville to be within this school district and specific schools. Our son enjoys his teachers and the school itself is very nice. We are pleased with the rotating class offerings and have found the teachers / staff to be responsive in a timely manner. Academically, our son has higher test scores than he did in his previous school district and we find it helpful to be informed of his grades (in real time) through the parent portal app.

Unorganized and ran by a horrible principal. Cares nothing for the actual education of children. Simply wants to look good in the eye of the public. Don't bring your kids here.

The teachers give us all homework so we can be successful. They hold everyone accountable and they make sure we know what we need to do. It is the student's fault if they don't complete their homework.

Posted: November 5, 2019

All of the teachers here at the school are really nice. They are all helpful and they care about the students. They make sure you know how to do things in school.

Posted: November 5, 2019

The students at Lakeview Middle School have a really strong character. We all respect one another and we show integrity. Everyone is friendly and we don't have a lot of bullying.

Posted: November 5, 2019

At Lakeview, we have a student council that helps make decisions at the school. We also have a bunch of student lead activities.

Posted: November 5, 2019

We have a whole team dedicated to people who have learning differences. We help and respect people with special needs. They have the same classes as us. I once had a couple of people with learning differences in my class.

Posted: November 5, 2019

Our school does not have a lot of bullying. If there is bullying the school handles it quickly and efficiently. I have never personally been bullied at this school.

Posted: November 5, 2019

I love this school! I have great friends and great teachers. The staff and students are extremely kind and helpful.

This school sucks I hate it I want to move back to platte city

Posted: May 22, 2015

Posted: May 22, 2015

They give homework but don't use it against the overall grade so if student doesn't complete no big deal. Not held accountable

Posted: May 22, 2015

Entire class punished for 2-3 students being disruptive. Students making up stories about others on several occasions but never reprimanded.

Posted: May 22, 2015

My family move around and this has been the worst school experience EVER! This school is so unorganized. No welcome package at all. Lack of communication between school/parent. Homework grades not included into overall grade so basically homework means nothing. My kids were supposed to go here for 2 years - we relocated just to get them out! Don't be fooled by the high test scores. Academically school has great scores but on a personal level lacks everywhere!!!!!
