Love this school! Couldn’t be happier. Has a “small community” feel despite being in the suburbs.

Child is starting 3rd grade next year;, have had a wonderful experience since K! Excellent staff, had nothing but amazing teachers who see your child and care, wonderful support staff/counselors and specials teachers. Principal is visible, involved, and communicates thoroughly. Fun and spirited learning environment. Culture is warm and inviting. Class size is appropriate and children are challenged with going their best. My child has excelled in reading, math, and science. She was taught cursive -which we are thrilled with. They have extracurricular “clubs” on Wednesday that your child can choose during school to boost their exposure to other activities including sewing, chess, yoga, coding etc. Lots of diversity , children speaking multiple languages which is great for all children to learn about other cultures. Kids zone after school program is great. They have resource officers who are always on site and also get to know the kids. Security is excellent. Front desk staff are friendly and get to know you.
PTA is incredibly active and welcoming, lots of fun programs , family involvement and enrichment activities, Monthly “all pro dad” before school activities where parent figures/children can opt to meet in a group and talk about character traits and foster meaningful relationship growth/conversations.

Honestly I have no idea why the rating is so low - it does not reflect the school experience we have had at all.

They have some amazing teachers. I have had multiple children all attend Liberty Oaks and all did very well. Mr. McCoy does stand out as one of the best 5th grade teachers, all my kids were in his class. They loved every single teacher every year.

My daughter was in Kindergarten last year, I guess we were not lucky with the teacher. At the beginning we were really worried about our daughter’s behavior after school. She came home aggressive, sad, she didn’t use to express much her feeling with words yet at the time. After few months she started telling us that her teacher was mean and even mentioned that the teacher was a “bullie”. She also suffered bullying from a classmate and I don’t know if teacher/school handled the situation very well. Anyways, we moved 2 months before the end of the school year and she went to a new school. We could see the difference in our daughter. She came home saying she loved her teacher. The school sent us a letter saying how much kindergartners can come home stressed and upset because of the amount of hours they stay at school helping parents to understand kindergartners feelings. This is what a school should do. At Liberty Oaks the drop off and pick up was a mess and staff really cold and not motivated. At the new school the staff is happy and the system is very well organized! Now that I have another experience to compare I can say: Liberty Oaks don’t care much about kids emotions, they focus on academics! Another child we know from our daughter’s classroom at Liberty Oaks also moved and she told her parents that the new teacher let her be “goofy”. So it seems to me kids has to be a “robot” in classroom. We are talking about kindergartners! We had a terrible experience. We also have other friends with kids at Liberty Oaks saying how cold they are and how much they lack at communication and empathy toward families and kids. We are living in positive education generation, I didn’t feel that!

Ron McCoy is THE best teacher, hands-down. His energy is incredible, and he holds each and every one of his students accountable for their learning and behavior. Teaching style is very creative and kids are enthusiastic to be in his class.

The principal doesn't make her teachers follow 504 plans. They have singled my son out numerous times and I have caught them in several lies and then they try to apologize and cover it up saying it was a misunderstanding with his counselor. He has attended this school for 3 years and now I'm am pulling him and my other son and enrolling them in a different school. Horrible way to treat their students and parents, and Dr. Slaughter is very unprofessional and rude.

Not a huge fan of the math core they teach. My son is advanced in math, however having to learn their terminology and new way of math set him back for the first half of the year I felt. Now that he understands the way the school does it, he does great. We love the teachers, and the district overall. They really customize teaching for each individual student.

Liberty Oaks teachers are very involved with students and parents. I am continuously surprised by the skills and subjects my childs is learning. Our principal cares about the students and is involved in the classroom.

My son has attended this school from K-5. He's enjoyed his experience and so have I for the most part. The building is nice and up to date. Can be real crazy though during the morning drop offs with all the parents dropping off their child for school, so my son and I decided to have him take the bus. He likes it better because he gets to talk with his friends on the way to school and we don't have to fight traffic just to get him to school:))
