Honestly one of the worst schools in the county. Fights happen almost every week and what do they do to stop? Nothing absolutely nothing they only care about their reputation and no students safety or mental health!. I was harassed, followed and verbally assaulted in this school which i reported to the admins where they said they would talk to them and fix the issue i reported the issue two times before my parents had to get involved since they didnt help me the first time, Mind you i reported to them in february and they only decided to start placing rules and fixing the issue by the end of the school year which was June clearly very irresponsible and horrible at treating their students who clearly didnt feel safe. I felt horrible and unsafe by going to this school why? because they didnt help me at ALL when i was clearly by HARRASED but they did they care no! only cared when my parents got involved and helping at the end of year was no help could have helped when i reported not once but TWICE in february. So please this is a horrible school theres two good teachers in this school besides that horrible extremely horrible. Leting students get harrased and lets not count leting people who fought escape? crazy. Horrible school and horrible staff members only care about their school reputation but not the students. And they had the audacity to say i had absent issues..Who wouldnt ? when this school has fights every day, threats and lets not forget me getting harrased for MONTHS and they not doing anything but simply talking believing thats going to the fix issue? thats honestly embarrassing horrible school.

As a former teacher at RHS , I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. With the majority of the students below grade level, all the admin care about is passing students along and getting bonuses by making students take tests and courses they don't even need.

Behavior problems are out of control. Students fight, do drugs, have sex, vandalize, do a lot of other inappropriate things daily on campus. The bathrooms are usually closed because of vandalism. More time, money, and focus is spent on kids who don't want to be there than kids who want to learn. These kids get left behind.

There are so many classes without certified teachers. The overall morale is so low. The principal micromanages the staff. The office sectretaries are rude to staff, parents, and students. The overall safety of the school is a daily concern. Teachers are given an impossible work load with no restroom or lunch breaks and a ridiculous amount of duties, after hour meetings, and mandatory evening and weekend events without any compensation.

There is definitely a racial division in the school and the principal tends to side with students and staff of his race.

I wouldn't be surprised if this school had to suddenly shut down because so many staff members quit.

This has to be the worst school I've ever taught at in NC.

This is a problematic school.

1. It serves as "overflow" for neighboring districts. This has resulted in an incredibly high Free and Reduced Lunch population. There's nothing inherently "worse" about these students, but they do tend to come from communities and families that have greater needs than the school has resources to support.
2. The overall majority of the students do not appear to want to be challenged in any way -- academically, intellectually, culturally, etc.
3. The school cannot retain staff. Teachers at this campus are swamped with so many non-instructional duties that they often leave after a couple of years.
4. In order to staff the school, some staff members are hired/retained who probably would not "cut it" at schools with higher academic standards.
5. The parents in this community are not very supportive. Parents rarely reached out to me about any issues other than they were not happy with a grade and wanted some "quick fix" v. having any real concern about the students' academic or intellectual development.
6. The parents in this community are hostile and combative to public education in general, the role of teachers, and the NC Standard Course of Study.
7. The leadership of the school transitions so often that ineffective policies are retained out of convenience and new policies are introduced and only last as long until a new principle is installed.

This is not a great school. There is plenty of blame to go around.

There are some great students in this school, but they are adversely affected by the lack of rigor, a strong, competitive, and nurturing academic culture. A great student will "coast" at this school and believe that this will be the norm elsewhere -- not understanding that they are simply (at this point in their development) simply a much better student than the average student at RHS, who is most likely a below-average student.

On a positive note: the school does have some staff and administration who genuinely are high quality educators and administrators. The vocational training programs are top-notch. The sports teams are very good and have excellent coaches.

My son has done very well in this school. The music program in particular is fantastic. The music teachers promote a warm and encouraging environment and provide a multitude of leadership opportunities for students who are willing to put forth the effort. The academics are on par with other school systems my kids have attended in NJ. I feel my son has progressed academically and has had a positive experience learning overall. The school staff in general I have found to be proactive and communicative (front office, teachers and principal).

Like any other school RHS is a function of what the STUDENT makes of it and puts into it. All of the staff i have interacted with are very pleasant and truly try to put the kids 1st and set them up for success. I am very pleased with my son's experience there thus far.

RHS has issues, just like every other high school in America, please look at the dates of many of these reviews, the school has come so far in a short amount of time. I currently have 2 kids, the oldest a junior, we love RHS, we love Mrs. Lassiter, the school does so much for their students! Parents must be a part of the solution, you can't sit back and expect others to raise your children, you get into this school, what you give.

Being new to the area, I was apprehensive sending my child here in 9th grade. But I saw him thrive in this school and be inspired to be the best student he can be and pursue excellence to the best of his ability. His teachers were very supportive and flexible with him, which I appreciate greatly.

Im not sure why this school has such a negative perception. We have been to several schools in the area and the education is no different here than anywhere else. My kids are the happiest they have ever been. No problems with bullying, great sports and clubs, good teachers and lots of academic opportunities. My kids most recently attended a private school in the area and they actually thanked me for moving them out of there and putting them in public school. Best thing we ever did.

This is likely the 2cd worst HS in wake county. The academic results are abysmal. The fact that there are 3 other significantly high performing HS close by shows that wcpss does not use socioeconomic integration effectively. People buying hone in Rolesville either have their kids in private schools or charters or dont have other options. Builders have told me homes are not selling as a result of how poor schools are in Rolesville. Pretty sad as it was a nice place to live and still is if you dont have kids.

This is my daughters 2nd year at the school and we have had a good experience. It is easy for my daughter to talk to her counselor about any issues. It is easy to email teachers and I have even gotten emails from a teacher just to let me know how well my daughter was doing in class. We had a minor issue with one of the teachers but even then setting up a meeting with her, was timely and effective. The principal Mrs. Lassiter is even easy to reach if needed and though she's tough and keeps the kids in order, she's a kind person to speak to. I feel that you get what you pour out into the school. I have enjoyed it and so has my daughter.

The student body is the worst part of the school. There are constant fights and disrespect towards teachers and the kids generally do not seem to care about school. There are some kids who care of course and do well.

As a new teacher at Rolesville High School (RHS), I feel that I can give an accurate depiction of the school's few strengths and many weaknesses. The only speck of joy at RHS, is the fact that the majority of the teachers truly care about the students.

The primary problems at RHS are the majority of the students and the school's administration. First, the vast majority of the students at RHS are disrespectful to teachers and do not come to school to learn. When the students do disrespect teachers, the administrators usually give the students light punishments, which do not decrease the occurrences of these behaviors. Fights (which usually occur multiple times a week), drugs, and gang violence are norms at Rolesville, however, the administrators do little to remove and give consequences to the students who participate in these activities, causing an unsafe environment for both the staff and students of the school.

The poor administration and unmotivated students at RHS, might explain why the school's test scores are so low. Due to the the administration and discipline problems at RHS, the students do not receive a high-quality education and most of the teachers do not feel supported.

I will most likely be leaving RHS this year due to the school's unruly students and inexperienced administrators.

The school is of course new (less than 3 years old) and it is working very well for our daughter who transferred in last year as a Junior.

My one complaint is that we, as parents, seem to get very little notification or advanced warning of events and/or important school meetings. I find communication very poor and unorganized overall.

I believe this could be improved easily with greater focus and outreach effort from the administration.

Our daughter has attended RHS since her junior year, she's now a senior. Overall, we are happy with Rolesville High. She feels safe, has good relationships with her friends, teachers and her senior counselor. Our only complaint is with the school principal who is rather lacking in communicating with parents - we have missed events due to finding out about them too late and/or not being notified at all. School is brand new and in a very pretty rural setting. Students have four 90 minute classes per day (block schedule) as opposed to seven shorter classes. Students are permitted to leave campus for lunch, but the 40 minute lunch slot makes it hard to leave and get back in time. Overall, we have been happy and do recommend Rolesville High.

Our daughter is taking all honors courses and she definitely has a good amount of homework. One class more than others - but she is able to balance her homework with her family/friend life.
